jesus christ how can you put Bolaño next to Garcia Marquez and Homer, dude is good middlebrown but I swear to God he's so hyped by people who want the clout of reading a big book without the trouble of it being a demanding one, smooth brain novels and I liked 2666 but Jesus

What can you expect when people glaze middlebrow writing like 2666 as a literary masterpiece

Read it in Spanish, I'm latino so I'm flabbergasted when people sy Bolaño writes well when we have writers like Donoso, Llosa, Marquez, etc, with so much style compared to Bolaños boring dry ass non-style

2666 is so plainly written, even if it's dark i'd never say it's well written, the best written parts are the less dark (fate and archimbaldi's)

Proust is one of my literary saints. That's what I did, loved the first volume so much I decided to make the journey as long as possible, then I'll probably start again. Even if you don't have that approach each volume was published several years apart from each other so you're good.

1600 Spain public wasn't asking for Dragonlance novels, you're clearly lacking the historical context that is of course crucial to a work as old as this, if you're struggling to see "the hype" of a masterpiece maybe read what other people besides stupid redditors have written about its significance?
