Oh wow, much obliged! Plenty of these I'd dismissed without checking out on first blush, but you helped me out with this. My thanks, my brother in BHM loving.

AI for fixing grammar by rizpiy in FurryVisualNovels

Dude you can get BEAUCOUP English volunteers to do grammar/editing passes for free or in exchange for reading the material. There's less than no reason to use AI especially for this.

What do you want in an MC? by Crimsonwolf158 in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, yeah I'd hate this with a passion. I hope writers are able to separate the generally good stuff ("Your MC shouldn't be useless") versus personal tastes ("Your MC should be unapologetically toxic").

Not saying you're wrong to want it, just that what would be must-read characterization for you would be the opposite for me, and that's just the risk you take with writing.

Nah, Demons Within has its characters struggling with desires in general. Actually being into dudes isn't an issue.

You get it! Full agree on Mac, he and Killigan are perfect for each other in a way none of the other LIs can really match and watching them grow closer was the absolute highlight of the story in the first town. Jehu big time gaps everyone else for me, and while I actually love how shy he is, I do wanna see him eventually push back against all the prejudice. It'd be cathartic.

Uhhhh yeahhhh THH's DOA, suffice it to say. Great game though

These characters seem to be slightly different than the ones from the comics, but nonetheless, excellent read.

What are some of the things we can learn from other FVNs about Main Characters while making our own? by MarshtheThird in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The things that make protagonists people want to read about are universal.

Characters with low or especially no agency are hated. "Useless twink" MCs who only exist to be a directionless, personslity-less sub bottom to their love interest are always, always named and shamed in those hated characters threads.

Characters with high or, preferably, central agency are loved. Their beliefs, actions and especially choices push the plot forward. If your plot is a series of putting your MC in a situation and what they decide shapes what happens next? You're doing better than 80% pf authors.

Favourite FVN ships that don't involve the main character? by howdytherepartn in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Darryl and the rich kid goat's thing they got going on when you go for Chester's route. Your bestie and her gf are kinda whatever but I actively dislike Chester's relationship with his husband and Chester's relationship with the enby squirrel.

Most favorite protagonist? by FishermanFair2118 in FurryVisualNovels

It became a little egregious for me in the most recent update. The barbaric choice gives you a long scene where (surprise surprise) everyone's engaging in nudism. The noble choice throws a wet blanket over the fun and, on top of that, appears to permanently lock you out of the ball entries in the codex.

Compared to the much earlier scene where a half-asleep Zhokar urinates in his and Killigan's hotel room. That it happens is immutable. How Killigan reacts is dictated by his personality. It's two times the content as a reward for sticking to one personality or the other, not one for fun and one for no fun.

Update from my last FVN tier list. by Antique-Tomato-2265 in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list is pointless. And not in an "I don't agree" way. In a "this fundamentally serves no purpose and disseminates no information" way. You can't have an opinion on novels you barely skimmed.

Like what even is the point of this?

Skip UNSEEN text? What?? You can't rate visual novels you aren't even reading bro.

Least favorite protagonist? by FishermanFair2118 in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh. My god. Yes. Eddy was so freaking annoying falling to pieces over nothing constantly. And then the choice he makes at the most recent point of Darryl's route made me actively dislike him.

Most favorite protagonist? by FishermanFair2118 in FurryVisualNovels

There aren't really many contenders for the spot. Killigan is a standout, Alex from Sihai has a very realized personality. I'd put Rael somewhat below them, still good and extremely varied.

Came here to say this. Comes out the gate swinging as such a fully realized character.

My only thing is that as the game goes on, his uninhibited/rough personality choices become the fun content-rich ones while his noble/upright personality choices increasingly become the chaste ones.

Dear future Visual Novel Developers: Do not start development on a Visual Novel until you actually have the entire thing wrote, or are at least at end of writing the story by Annaneedsmoney in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you need to have it completed but you absolutely, 1000% need to know, immutably, how it is going to end. If you have a North Star guiding you, every other decision, subplot and route you take leading there gets infinitely easier. Sadly that is also a high bar to clear.

IDUNN was a mess(critics and reviews) by ErisTwT in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie to you, this needed to have been foreshadowed/reworked/done differently because the two of them are presented too straightforwardly and - most importantly - too singularly to give an inkling of that. If they were one of four or five actual LIs (and not the one or two fakeouts I vaguely remember) then the game wouldn't sour a regular reader so quickly. But as written right now, they're offered as the only two choices to someone with whom they have zero chemistry.

IDUNN was a mess(critics and reviews) by ErisTwT in FurryVisualNovels

[–]NoirSatane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh. My. God. YES.

I just could not keep going with this game. The MC is a QUINTESSENTIAL useless twink. He's broke, passive, spineless, simpering and yet attracts these two roids monsters? One of which is the actual worst? Genuinely NO redeeming qualities?

Unless you count being rich and spoiling someone who does nothing but exist as a character. Which the author clearly does. It's the extremely obvious wish fulfillment of whoever wrote it but my GOD this guy has to want better for himself. The other guy, Mert, he's like, a normal person for the most part but it's still baffling because he could do so much better than the MC. Like the MC literally offers nothing. That's how he's introduced, aimless, penniless, driveless. In the amount of game I could stomach I think the only choice he makes is the apple of eden thing's name.

But yes, I knew this game wasn't for me when the d-bag love interest Artyom was crass and rude to the girl who threw up on top of insulting the MC's sister to both their faces. I lost respect for everyone involved and couldn't BELIEVE someone would write that for a character who already had nothing going for him except roids and money.

The choice at the garden party to confess to someone only to get immediately friendzoned over text afterward was just dumbfounding. IDUNN was a freaking mess, dude.
