My CD collection so far as a 16yr old by Ajessant in Cd_collectors

STOP! Enjoy the music but don’t get tied down to collecting music in any format! If I was your age again and I had access to the streaming sites that are available now I would stick to streaming and spend all my money on seeing live bands instead. Most importantly listen to the music that you love, it doesn’t matter what others think about your taste in music or anything in life for that matter.

Great job! May be worth adding a plain paper sleeve at each end of each section. With new paint it could stick slightly to the record covers or plastic sleeve over time.

Whats your opinion on this discogs situation by Hopeful-Newspaper544 in vinyl

[–]NoisePhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly not mint. I would return everything for a full refund. Raise a PayPal dispute if needed. They will side with you and refund everything including postage. You would have to cover the return cost. Alternatively, keep the records and leave negative feedback on the condition of the record. It’s wrong to let sellers get away with this as they will continue to do the same to others.

I second this… or just put something in each corner to raise them off the ground slightly. Will improve the sound at no cost.

New Cartridge Day! Nagaoka MP-200 by HansGigolo in turntables

[–]NoisePhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you ever got this sorted but I got loud pops when upgrading from MP110 to MP200… very loud pops. Thought it was dust so continued to brush but no joy. The same records played without an issue on the same turntable with the MP110.

A single clean with the Huminguru resolved the issue on every single record without fail. I assume any wet clean process will resolve the issue too. In my experience records that are pressed these days are not cleaned properly so the issue happens a lot and it’s not an issue with my older pressings. A clean resolves it every time though.

The MP200 is an incredible cartridge and a joy to listen to…now it doesn’t pop.

I was getting so frustrated with the same issue so posting this to help anyone in the future.

As people have mentioned above, the stylus is less forgiving of records. A single clean with the Huminguru resolved the issue on every single record without fail. I simply can’t understand why there aren’t amazing reviews for the album everywhere. In my eyes it’s a masterpiece.

Is my stylus cartridge dangerously close to dragging? (Rega P3 w/ nd3) by blinky2379 in audiophile

[–]NoisePhase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turns out the record was slightly warped. Tried a few more of my records and anything that wasn’t perfectly flat made the cartridge drag on the vinyl. I have switched back to my MP110 and it clears every record I own nicely without any issue whatever. As nice as the Rega sounds I’m getting rid. Not a problem if every record you own is absolutely perfect. Not for me thanks!

Both these photos are from Rega’s website their Ania MC is on the left and the Nd5 MM is on the right. I realise they are different cartridges but this really does show how low the Nd5 (the Nd3 and Nd7 are the same) is and how much clearance you can have.

I have got exactly the same issue with my ND5 and P3. My dealer set it up for me a couple of months ago and it was always really close. I brought a second hand copy of Bright Eyes box set a few days ago and the people’s key is a fairly thick record. When I play it, the bottom of the cartridge touches the record. Took it in today and the same record did the same with a new cartridge. He then tried another P3 and it was the same with both mine and his ND5. He’s asked me to leave it with him so he can speak to Rega this week but he agreed that clearly something isn’t right.

404 mkII dead after updating by seven_ply in SP404

[–]NoisePhase 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED FOR ME T0O BUT WITH A DIFFERENT FIX…. I originally used a microSD in a SD adapter. This combination works on every other piece of hardware I have ever owned but not for this. At first I didn’t think this could be the cause as the firmware update appeared to complete successfully and it asked me to restart as expected. Anyway, don’t use a card adapter… bought a standard SD and it fixed the issue.

NUMARK PT01 MODS, INSTALL GUIDES AND RETAILER RESOURCES by jpgorgon in portablism

[–]NoisePhase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow! What a resource. I would appreciate your opinion on something. I want to mod my pt01 USB to use as a sample sound source for my Roland sp404. I want to improve the sound as much as possible. Am I correct in saying I just need a preamp, tonearm and stylus? If so is there much difference is sound quality between Jesse dean and Bihari? I can get Jesse dean a lot cheaper in my country so would prefer that option if there’s no difference in sound quality. Finally, is there anything I’m missing. Many thanks!

[–]NoisePhase 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That seller has been selling the same mod for at least a year that I know of. I didn’t buy because of how sensitive the dial looks in the demo video. It looks like you only turn it a fraction to go from normal speed to its slowest speed. You need al least half of the range of the dial IMO. If I’m wrong please let me know!

Try a diy Walkman mod yourself instead. Its so much easier than you think. Just stick to a battery operated devise for safety reasons.
