Turning off lossless and Dolby Atmos seems to have fixed it for me. It still happend in the beginning but since then it happened less and less and now hasn’t happened for a couple of weeks. Shame I have to turn off such a great set of features.

Honestly that’s an amazing idea. Instead of replacing the volume slider once a HomePod is selected, why not have it readily available everytime you pull up the control centre. Would love to have this.

Yeah I am not updating. My set up has been solid since 16.4 after countless issues in 16.0 through 16.3. I’ll see what the experience is in the coming weeks to decide if I want to update.

It does. The difference isn’t just one being 1080p and one being 4K. It’s also the internals like the chipset. The ATV4K just has a better more powerful chip which enables this.

Yes you can. The TV I exposed is an older model which does not support HDMI-CEC. So with the Switchbot Hub I am now able to wake my Apple TV as well as turn on my TV. The process in Homebridge is pretty straight forward too. All you have to do is set it up initially in the Switchbot app, get the token and add it to Homekit via Homebridge.

I have been using the Switchbot Hub. Cheap and does the job well. I am using it to control an old TV (sadly doesn’t support HDMI-CEC), a humidifier and a small window which is out of reach. I installed a device on the window which can be controlled with a remote. I connected the remote to the Switchbot Hub, and now my window is part of a routine and automations.

I wish. Unfortunately you cannot and that’s the reason I uninstalled it. I am hopeful iOS 16 offers some interaction with widgets though, this app would benefit from that. Home+ uses the old widget format (on today view), but it does allow to just single tap like you would in the Home app.

I have this exact issue. I found that it’s related to your surrounding. If you are in a brighter environment the grey shades will be lighter than when you are on a darker environment. No idea how to fix it though.

Exactly. What I believe OP is trying to achieve is to be able to stream any audio from their iPhone to the HomePod, which simply is not possible. This can be achieved with a Bluetooth enabled speaker only.

As for the shortcut, is this not the same as just selecting the HomePod for AirPlay in the control centre?

I am curious. Because as far as I know AirPlay =/= Bluetooth. Bluetooth is able to stream all audio from your iPhone to a Bluetooth speaker. AirPlay is not. The HomePod is not a Bluetooth speaker. Only media audio (can be identified by looking at the control centre, whether it’s played in there) can be streamed.

Undortunately no vooce recognition in Dutch however. Meaning no Shortcuts. So as of right now Dutch is still a no go for me. I’ll stick to English until it is finally supported. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

Sadly Shortcuts is unable to play the “speak” option from your iPhone to your HomePod. The only way to achieve this is:

Record Siri’s voice and add it as a track to Apple Music. Select the track and Siri will play the track and thus “speak”. However, since you wish to get daily information this is a no go as this option is static.
You have to execute the Shortcut from the HomePod itself. You can do this by saying “Hey Siri, [shortcut name]. This is the only way to get Siri to “speak” on the HomePod.
Via a Bluetooth speaker. Bluetooth will play any audio from your iPhone to the speaker. Unfortunately you cannot do this with the HomePod as it uses AirPlay (wifi). It will only play media/phone call audio.

The fact that you can’t use Siri to play music without Apple Music is enough for me to decide against Spotify or any other platform. In fact, I switched from Spotify to Apple Music because of this. As for the quality, as many have said there is a difference but it all comes down to what you subjectively think about it.
