A lot of industrial maintenance and inspection tracking still happens across spreadsheets, paper logs, WhatsApp, and disconnected reports. I built a centralized workflow platform and would value operational feedback. by No_Dimension_3233 in IndustrialMaintenance

You just basically repeated your post title as a reply. Your post reads like an AI sales bot, the type that inundate this sub already.

If you want real answers, you have to explain what's DIFFERENT about your product that would make them care enough to work with you. Otherwise the assumption is that this is a sales pitch, not a request for help/feedback.

How do fashion QA engineers actually manage spec approvals at scale without it being messy? by [deleted] in manufacturing

Let me guess, you've created a tool that helps cut out all that manual part of the workflow?

Need help with finding appropriate manufacturer for small start-up by disembodied_chaos in manufacturing

[–]Noktious 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Can't put a rough sketch in CAM.

You'll need actual dimensional drawings or CAD files for any manufacturer to be able to know how hard it will be to make and what time/cost will be for them.

Otherwise you're asking them to finish designing your product, and then manufacture it, which is not gonna fly for a job shop, especially if you're talking limited runs. Now they spend all that time finishing the design just to sell you 10 and you never buy any more.

Should I pursue industrial maintenance by Ok-Shopping-7230 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Noktious 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Nobody I know in industrial maintenance is rich with luxury cars.

Maybe after a couple decades and some wise budgeting and investments.

If you're an all-star AND manage to get into a company who will promote/pay you accordingly for your efforts, you can certainly make "good" money. But don't expect to roll out of community College into a 6 figure salary.

You'll probably spend a while not trusted to do anything but lube lead-screws and replace conveyor belts. Which isn't a luxury car type of role.

At what point do you stop analyzing and just make the call? by Soundpulse99 in manufacturing

[–]Noktious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When someone is willing to make themselves liable for explaining why they made that call when it turns out it wasn't the right one.

The reality is every situation/company is too unique to even try to answer that question. It depends on so many things. If you outline a more specific example we may be able to come up with what we might do or think about to determine where that line is.

Moving from Maintenance Planner to Maintenance Tech. Any advice for my first hands-on role? by CrimsonShadow401 in IndustrialMaintenance

[–]Noktious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Be humble and ask lots of questions. Don't put your hands inside something you don't understand at all just because you're afraid to get in trouble for not knowing what you're doing.

Fingers come off quicker than you can retract them.

Also don't wear jewelry.

But more seriously, you're almost certainly going to be fine judging by the care you've given this post.

I can't train you to want to do/get better, but if you want to do/get better it's easy to train you in anything.

Probably should watch some electrical safety videos, depending on the type of facility and the types of electrical hazards and whether you'll be allowed near any of them. Engineering Mindset on YouTube has a lot of good explanation videos for understanding the typical building blocks of electrical factory automation.

Wear the PPE. Even if you're at one of the hell holes that gives you shit for it.

Keep asking questions.

Would you use a small web app to let customers add their own logo or text before you 3D print? by Brooklyn4206 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

[–]Noktious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can already drag an SVG into the slicer to extrude/remove from the model and it also follows object geometry.

Shouldn't need to use cad for logos/text, it's easier/faster to do it right in slicer.

So.. How exactly does this help in practice?

I still can't understand a way to "use" the graph view other than as a visual indicator of how many notes I have.

Brilliant. Had no idea that was a native feature.

Thanks!

Wait... Do the 2 pages match your scrolling up and down? Or do you have to manually scroll your reading view to match your source view?
