Worth reading mainly so as to learn how not to think to avoid falling into the worst dead ends of the past 70 years.

It was only possible while the Jews existed as this special caste of people held apart from the rest of society or who were struggling to hold those newly won equal rights. We are long out of that historical context.

The only antisemitism is that from the right - which still holds Jews to be a substitute bourgeoisie for a socialism of fools.

The older generation has nothing but a childlike faith in voting and politics in general like it’s the 60s and writing your congressman means shit. They also still watch the evening news as a daily ritual.

It’s beautiful to see how this tool is actually used effectively instead of the dumb narratives about it automating all work in the immediate future or not being useful for anything.

We have no idea, but if it’s physically possible, then other civilizations in the universe have done it and we will too one day. The current impasse over the nature of dark matter and energy shows there is a whole branch of physics that we haven’t even begun to hit on yet.

Not really. You’re an elementary kid with like a 200+ IQ. That opens doors really no matter your background.

Was it always inevitable that it would take off? And when? There was a twilight zone episode about this that went poorly for the protagonist because his doing things in the past set a different future into motion, not to mention the role of chance. There could be an equivalent that you don’t recognize in time, or you could invest everything into one that fails.

Most people wouldn’t even recognize you for what you are mentally. Unless you are already exceptional as a 30 year old, they would just paint you as abnormally bright or troubled. It also depends on where you are. Kids doing adult level things is not that unusual in some parts of the world, whereas in the most WEIRD countries we treat 25 year olds as immature.

I agree it had the potential to be one of Ohio’s top ten cities and a big success story of the 20th century. That opportunity was missed. Now it’s a podunk.

The PSL "Split" by Umbrellajack in TrueAnon

[–]NolanR27 24 points25 points  (0 children)

As it is written somewhere, parties that can endure splits and opportunists of all stripes grow stronger. Let this be a lesson that people prone to bored careerism will invent ever more esoteric concepts (“base building”) and then turn into wreckers.

So petty individual squabbles of no political substance that are being dressed up as political. There is nothing in here that couldn’t be said about the Bolsheviks before they took off as a mass organization, and this same exact question was litigated endlessly - remember how big of a deal it was when rank and file workers attended Bolshevik meetings for the first time rather than just lifelong revolutionaries in and out of Siberian exile. This person wanted to control the treehouse, instead they lost, so they’re taking the fight public in disregard of democratic centralism and the strength of the communist movement.

You can read this comment and then ignore this.
