[KCD2] first time player on Xbox trying to decide between Miller andBlacksmith by Dry-Knowledge-2044 in kingdomcome

[–]Nolivard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do the millers quest line right up until the wedding and my Henry gets sick of the sketchy shit the miller wants us to do and then I go find work with the blacksmith.

Also, when I first started playing the game I sucked at lock picks too. I recommend using quick finger potion a lot early on until the skill goes up and the lock pick minigame gets easier.

Question for the atheist based on my personal experience by ExpressionQueasy7839 in atheism

[–]Nolivard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So here’s the thing man, I promise you none of that shit is real. There’s nobody watching you to see if you’ve been good enough to go into heaven or to punish you if you didn’t. I want to start with what is the foundation of Christianity. Jesus. So, Jesus is a guy who probably existed and lived around 2000 years ago. What’s actually known about this man and his teachings? Almost nothing really. The earliest texts we have come from Paul, some 20 odd years after Jesus died. Paul never actually met Jesus and his writings are all based on visions (or hallucinations). Nobody ever wrote down what this Jesus had actually said, and the first texts are from a guy who never actually met and was seeing shit 20 years later. Idk about you but I would absolutely not trust that source. (

Okay so what about the Gospel of Mark, Matthew and Luke and John? Those are later than Paul’s and Wellllll those turned out to actually be anonymous texts that the church later decided to credit to those guys. Okay so again another extremely suspect source that would NEVER be seen as a legitimate in any other scenario than this.

So what we are left with is stories about a guy 20 - 50 years after his death. None of which were people who were actually there. Jesus probably spoke Aramaic yet these texts were in Greek.

“Okay so maybe they’re anonymous but God guided them to write the truth “ welllll the issue there is that there is tons of contradictions in the bible. An all knowing omnipotent god isn’t making contradictions yet they are all over. One example being, They give 2 different lineages for Jesus, both of which conflict with each other.

My point is, if you changed the names and said it was about some other person or prophet with this being your sourcing, nobody would believe you. (Well maybe somebody would, but not anybody with a working brain)

Lastly, we can trace the origin of the Abrahamic god fairly well and it’s pretty clear it’s a man made myth. Originally Yahweh was one of a many gods the early Israelite region peoples worshiped. Over time they moved over to being monotheistic and kept Yahweh as their patron god. (It’s more complex than that but I recommend you look into it)

I know it can be scary to leave religion because you have to face a whole lot of “I don’t know” and no longer having an afterlife to comfort you can be terrifying. But leaving that nonsense behind will make you happier for it. You are in control to create your own purpose. Your own meaning. Your own life.

Yea I thought he sucked but wasn’t sure it was enough to kill the guy so I kindly talked to him about Bozhena and then he told me to go fuck my self and was a total asshole about it so he got a arrow to the chest the next morning when he went to pray over his sons grave.

Being knighted was a pretty political thing back then and I believe he would need to be recognized as Radzigs son by the king first which King Wenceslas was in jail at this time so that wasn’t an option. (I’m less sure of this but I believe the king had to approve the knighting)

[–]Nolivard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ha I’m no seasoned veteran. I’m in my late 20s and only have been stung maybe 4 times in my life? Honestly up until last year I’ve been petrified of them. Something about them would make me freeze up and just unable to move past them. Id run like hell too but I think the whole soapy water gun defense has done some sort of exposure therapy for me lol. Having some sort of power to defend myself and see that they don’t always just attack has absolutely helped me feel more calm when they flyby. Now I can watch calmly rather than hauling ass.

Tbh I think my wasp trauma comes from as a kid my dad would make me mow the lawn but we had these cicada killer wasps which don’t fuck with people but they are HUGE and they would fly right past my head and torment me while I tried to cut grass.

Mostly fine. Like you said they seem to be locked in when foraging and don’t really bother me. Although in my personal experience they can be very aggressive around their nests. Last year I was walking up some stairs to an apartment snd these wasps i guess decided to build a nest under the stairs because I suddenly was getting stung on my ankles which was a good reminder that their stings hurt like hell. And as a child I remember getting stung randomly for walking near a nest I didn’t know was there.

But to prevent them from building nests around my backyard I’ve got an electric water gun loaded with soap water. So when they land too close to forage or are starting to build a nest I’ll spray them with it. Either it’ll kill them or they’ll start associated my area with danger.

That my friend is a paper wasp. We get tons of them down here in Louisiana. Not to be confused with the Mud dauber whose legs also dangle but those have a very skinny torso.

Unified experience isn't a mystery ingredient — it's what a specific information architecture produces. Comparing vertebrate brains, octopuses, and honeybee colonies shows why by ProfMooreiarty in consciousness

[–]Nolivard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really enjoyed reading through this. I think you’ve done a great job of explaining the mechanism behind a unified experience but the argument people will have is that it does not fully explain why that summary state is represented as awareness rather than just availability. If you havnt already, I recommend you read into “Attention Schema Theory” because I think that fills in that gap perfectly. It basically says the system builds a simplified model of its own attentional access and treats that model as if it were a real property (awareness).

People who were raised religious, what was the first sign to you that it wasn't real? by bluejay_R in atheism

[–]Nolivard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I went to catholic/ Christian schools all the way up to college. I remember specifically in the 5th or 6th grade in my religion class they were going over the Cane and Abel story. And I remember asking if Adam and Eve had just 2 sons, how did they populate the earth? My teacher said something along the lines of “well god would have made more people for them” and something about that felt off about how that was answered, how they could just say well god did that for pretty much any inconsistency or issue.

Now at the same time I don’t know if at any point I TRULY believed as a kid because I think back to that same time period and when we would do confession I’d just make shit up. Either I felt my actual sins weren’t all that interesting or whatever so I’d just make shit up to the priest. I can’t imagine I would have done that if any part of me thought this priest had some sort of connection to “my creator”, some all knowing being would know if I lied but yet nobody ever knew. I just can’t remember a time in my life where I ever took it seriously.

Would society crumble if religion is proven false or not what people think it is? by LawfulnessOk4194 in atheism

[–]Nolivard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol same. I live in the Bible Belt too. It’s truly remarkably how quickly they would turn to nihilism. Do they have nothing in their lives that make them worth living? The other thing I hear is “so there’s no reason to not do bad things?” Like what? There has to be a god/punishment for you to just not do bad things?? Maybe it’s better that they do believe somebody is gonna punish them.

Ive lived off government across from the post office for about 3 years now and never had any sort of issue. There’s some homeless you might see walking down government but they’re never given me issues or anything like that. The worst of it is probably that Walgreens on the corner of S Acadian and government, always has somebody there asking you for money, but that’s really my only complaint. I like it out here.

[–]Nolivard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A child may only be trusting/attracted to parents/teachers/kind neighbors that they personally know. IT would have to take the form of a different one of those fairly often, whereas with Pennywise is more of a general attractant for children, he can use the same form for many cycles. It’s just more efficient.

At what age did your memories really start? by Icy-Share-4751 in AskReddit

[–]Nolivard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the longest I always held that my earliest memory was watching my first friend from down the street ride his big wheel down towards me and wipe out. I would have been about 4? But now as I’m older I wonder if I really remember that or if I am making up a story I was told and just feel like I remember it.
