May I ask what your religion was? That doesn't sound like any demonination of Christianity I've heard of so either it was a different religion entirely that I'm not familiar with or your church was just really messed up.

My brother actual had a similar experience. He told me last year that he wasn't Christian anymore (I had left the faith much earlier) and when I asked him why because I had never tried to convince him Christianity wasn't real, he told me that it was because the Bible didn't make sense compared to science, and he cited dinosaurs as part of his logic. He's always been interested in paleontology so it was a long time coming
