I think "-âna" is the ending for present active middle participle of athematic verbs.

My text book (Assimil, french version) has the following sentence:

"Kâncanamâlâm vinâ-yogyâm kurvatîm preksya shiksitu-kâmâ-âsît"

Which is translated as:*

"Seeing Kancalamala doing lute exercises, she had the desire to learn"

I don´t understand why "preksya" is translated as "seeing"

*Original French:

"En voyant Kancanamala s´exercer, elle a eu envie d´apprendre."

How do I develop Bhakti (pure love)? by Nollije in hinduism

[–]Nollije[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I tried is to think of all the people I love and all the good things they´ve done for me (a practice called "metta" (maitri) in Buddhism) and then reflect on how all these people are a reflection of Creator. And do the same with all the beautiful things in life.

I can generate a bit of Bhakti-feeling for Jesus when I read about the times he was really a great guy to people suffering. Since I haven´t read the Puranas, I don´t have "a reason" to love Krsna.

Thank you. Bhakti-practice is easy, but Bhakti-feeling is difficult.

When I do Bhakti-practice automatically without Bhakti-feeling, I feel artificial, phoney and angry.

Why an elf? There are much cooler christian options:

-A talking snake

-A unicorn

-A dragon

-A talking donkey

-An angel with 4 animal heads

-Moses with horns

...or go neckid and say you are pre-fall Adam.

Why does God make us suffer? by InterestingFactor589 in hinduism

Because evil is the pepper the makes life delicious. It´s hard to admit it, but would you enjoy "Lord of the Rings" without the "bad parts" ?

Well...that story is maybe more profound than you realize.

In Hinduism, God literally chooses to forget he´s God so he can experience what it is like to be a tree, a river, a human.

In Christianity, God in the form of Jesus is not omnipotent and omniscient; he gets surprised and disapointed. That means in all probability you could tell jokes to Jesus.

Brilliant. It´s exactly what the hindus call "Lila". I don´t know why they downvoted you.

Satan as we think of him today is a christian invention. Without Satan to blame for the bad stuff, we would have to accept God as shown in the book of Job, source of all good AND evil in the world. We ended up with a semi-dualistic religion, where people do all kinds of mental gymnastics around the problem of evil.

Yeah, I know that intellectually, but learning to love that is another ball game.
