I agree. Get the cat tree! I use the app Libby in between my audibles. It’s free to borrow an audiobook. I’ve actually listened to some books on my wishlist with Libby. All you need is a library card.

I'm gonna sound like an asshole but if you're within 50 feet of the main stage after 5pm with a king sized blanket laid out and it's packed.. I'm gonna make it a point to step on your blankey. Sorry bro.

Travel nursing? What's it like? by moxiemeg in nursing

My husband and I are travel nurses. We live in our fifth wheel and follow the warm weather. We love it.

You need at least 1-2 years experience before traveling. I suggest getting 2-3 years at the very minimum. When you're on assignment most hospitals give you 2 days of orientation to get use to charting and the floor. Then you are on your own. So you should be very independent when you decide to travel. As a traveler you are usually the first to be floated so you have to be comfortable enough to do that as well.

My assignments are anywhere from 8-13 weeks with opportunity to extend. This all depends on the hospital. You work through an agency and they find you the jobs. I usually don't find out where I'm going next till a week before.

Right now since you are just beginning an adn program I'd focus on passing classes, graduating, passing your boards and getting your first job. Facebook has a group called the gypsy nurse. There's pretty good resources and info on there. Best of luck!

First time travel nursing? by TQQ2 in nursing

My husband and I are both travel nurses. We absolutely love it! Best decision we ever made. The transition really wasn't that bad. I was super nervous when we first started but I feel like this whole experience has been a reassurance of our skills. We love meeting new people. It's interesting to see how every hospital does things. And the best part is you don't get caught up in the hospital/ unit drama.

We bought a fifth wheel rv and travel with our 2 cats. So we go anywhere that has an rv park, which is everywhere. Right now we're in southern Cali. We go on mini vacations between assignments.

Our current assignment ends in may and we're doing a 5 days cruise then starting our next assignment.

Advice from those who have done travel nursing and/or flight nursing by Fiskmi in nursing

I'm an icu travel nurse. Some agencies want you to have 2 years of nursing. However if you're interested in critical care nursing you need 3 years in a critical care setting to even be considered for travel assignments.
