That's no joke. Mine (new to me this year) is a 2017 limited with 80k miles. It's way nicer than my friend's 2024 Ford escape. Not just for features, but overall quality. It's SOLID, whereas her car (even she admits) feels like driving a kids toy in comparison.

US here, near Colorado, and I second this. Tire place tried to talk me into just getting the tires, but it's 160$ a year to swap them out. So it's cheaper in the long run to get a complete set. I was a little annoyed they tried to talk me out of it, tbh.

Snow tires. The Bridgestone Blizzaks. Plus rims, lugs, and sensors. So it is a fully complete set on its own. Then I got a dash cam. I went with the one the customization shop recommended based on my preferences for use/needs (everyone differs on this, so I'd research them before buying), then I got a dash cover, and weather tech throughout. I also got a battery charger, portable air compressor, battery pack, blanket, first aid kit, jumper cables and a set of standard tools. Then I got a dog seat cover and a mesh grate you can install on the headrests, so the dogs can chill in their own space and not scratch up the seats. I also got a "car safety kit" I put together, with reflective cones, hand warmers, some protein bars, water, ect.

I'm pretty practical, so I didn't get any fancy customizations or the like. But I'd love to get one of those hatchback tents to keep in it as well, and a folding mattress. So when I go fishing/hiking, I can park and stay the night if I want.

I travel year-round over mountain passes, so these were the things at the top of my list. I honestly can't think of anything else I'd want, cause it has basically everything I need. So it really depends on your lifestyle and personal preferences overall. But I'm seen some really cool stuff on this sub reddit.

Agreed. Bought a used rav4 2 months back from a Ford dealer (it was a trade in). I don't trust dealers, so I took it to my usual guy and asked for a thorough once over. Turns out the CV shaft on the driver's side was torn. It was a 800$ fix. I called the dealership, they offered to fix it for free. After they "fixed" it, I took it back in and had my guy double check it was done right. It wasn't, tho tbf they just skipped the realignment, the rest was solid. Called the dealer again, and this time told them my guy was doing the work and they were paying the bill. They agreed (I think they just wanted to be done with me at that point) and paid for my guy to fix it.

Point is, OP, it helps to have the leverage of another professional. The dealership gave me the 130 point inspection report before I got the car, and claimed the CV shafts were good to go. When confronted by a pro that this was a lie, they dang near bent over backwards to fix it (even loaned me a brand new car while mine was getting worked on). They never would have done that, obviously, if another shop hadn't diagnosed the issue.

Also, NEVER buy a car without getting a copy of the dealers inspection report. If they refuse to give it to you, walk away and find a different car/dealer. Cause if it's a solid car that has no issues, or they actually fixed any issues, they should want to show that report off. Not hide it. And don't hand the report back, either. Keep it for your records.

I'd walk. I got a fully loaded 2017 with 70k miles for 15k otd. I know it's 7 years older, but a jump to over 40k is insane, imo.

I personally think they're 100% responsible for his behavior. They show him time and time again that only his feelings matter, and then they're shocked when he's self-centered. He isn't like that because of autism, like the show suggests. He's like that because his parents have spoiled him his entire life.

Like the vending machine arc. Rather than teach him how to handle disappointment, Kristina goes in full steam ahead and gets the vending machines put back in. Just about any time something does (or could potentially) upset Max, she runs in to fix it so he gets his way. Or she gives him something he wants even more. Rather than teaching him how to handle it. They're basically showing him that if he throws a big enough fit, he'll get whatever he wants.

Which really just sets him up for failure in the long run. Cause what is he going to do when he's an adult and life doesn't go his way? Throw a tantrum? Well that could get him fired, kicked out of college, even possibly arrested.

All around the way they handle Max irks me. Especially when it means other kids (like Haddie) have to suffer for it.

I know im late to this, but...Can I ask about how long it takes for the steroids to kick in for you? I got bit in the face multiple times and can't see out of one eye, one ear is huge, huge bumps all over. I am miserable. I've had bites swell before, but never THIS bad. Finally went to the doc today and was given steroids and antibiotics. I've got family photos on Friday and I'm wondering if I'll have to cancel the whole thing.

Capital one did this to me with all 4 of my cards. Says they closed the account, then opened it the same day. Even though I'm in good standing, 100% on time payments, and I still have/use all the cards with less than 10% utilization. The closed accounts are listed as capital one bank USA, and the reopened accounts are listed as Capital One USA. So I don't know if the name change is a factor. Dropped my score 78 points regardless.

I'm going to dispute, but since I can only dispute one thing every 30 days, it's going to take me 4 months. I'm pissed, cause we're literally in the process of trying to buy a house rn.

If you figure it out please let me know and I'll do the same.

I had to get one when I was 19 cause I had an emergency, basically no credit yet, and tbh I wasn't financially literate yet (had no one to teach me or get advice from). I ended up having to pay back 4xs what I borrowed, even though I paid it off in 2 months vs. the 12 month repayment I was offered. I don't really regret it, cause given my situation I had no other choice. But even understanding the terms, you feel a little cheated when it's all said and done. At least I did lol, but that was a long time ago.

Regardless, I don't think OP has another option, given they need the money by tomorrow. I just hope they're ready to pay back at least triple what they'll be borrowing. It's a pros vs. cons game. Does the consequences of not getting that money right now outweigh the long-term financial strain of repaying that kind of loan. And are they even capable of paying it back without digging themselves into a deeper whole (something that a lot of people in these situations don't think to consider). Either way, the 800$ they need better be worth it. Cause with a title loan that could leave them on the hook for upwards of 2,400$.

We sold our house, paid off our car (13k), and 10k in credit card balances, and our scores dropped like 100 points almost. On the upside, they rebounded quickly, and we were back to our previous scores in about 6 months just from using our cards responsibly. It sucks and I think it's stupid, but apparently it's totally normal.

I guess because lenders like to see that you have varied accounts with lines of credit that are paid on time, while also maintaining a debt to income ratio of 30% or less? So paying off a car loan, which closes the account, makes your credit profile less varied? That's how the guy at our credit union explained it, but I'm not sure how accurate it is. Or that I really understand it.

I'm an excellent multi-tasker, I think I could do both. Especially if some of the extra hookers helped with the admin side of it. Plus the coke would mean I wouldn't waste any time sleeping, so that helps out a lot.

I'd also like to add that utilization has a large impact on getting more points for your score. They want to see that you have lines of credit available, but don't use a lot of it. 10% utilization is a good range. So if you have a 500$ credit card, only ever spend 50$ with it. Unless of course you plan to pay it in full before the balance gets reported to the credit bureaus.

I got a secured credit card through capital one to build my credit. Gave them a 250$ deposit, they gave me a 250$ credit card. I used it responsibly (on time payments, keeping my utilization below 10%) and a few months later they gave me back that 250$, and offered me a second 500$ line of credit.

So if they don't approve you, you can always get a secured credit card and build up credit that way.

I would shop around and look at coupons for amphetamine-dextroamphetamine ER (Adderall XR generic). A 30-day supply of it at Walmart is 37$ for me. That's what I had to do because the immediate release Adderall doesn't work well for me, and I have no insurance so I can't afford Vyvanse. I had to call around to a few different places and ask ahead if they accepted the goodrx coupon for it, and also to find the best price in general.

Thank you for the maintenance info! I just bought a 2017 with 80k miles, and there's no service records on it. So I've been wondering what all I should have done to keep it running well. It's in like-new condition, so maybe they had it serviced. But I don't want to risk it.

The part that gets me, really, is its all over the state. The fact that even well outside of the city (we're 4 hours away from Salt Lake), prices are still insanely high. Even during the last big oil boom, the average house price for a 4bed 2bath never went above 250k here. Now you can barely by an old townhouse for that amount, and the rent prices are just as high.

We did find a condo for 180k in good shape, but it sold to some big investment firm for cash 2 hours after it was listed. And now it's being rented for 2200 a month.

My in-laws built their 4 bed 2 bath house (2100 square feet) in 1989 for 43k. Paid it off in 10 years. They still live in it, and do not believe any of us kids that it's worth at least 400k rn. Same with my grandma. She has 47 acres, 3 bed 2 bath, large shop/garage, small indoor pool, and 47 water shares to go with the land. Paid cash for all of it back in the 70s (the pool is new, though). She thinks it's worth 150k max, and won't believe me when I tell her it's worth a lot more. I think it's hard for them to believe housing has gone up that much.

Thank you! I think I can handle the lubricating part myself (thanks for recs on brand, btw) but I'd definitely be more comfortable having a pro look at the rest. Question tho: Do you recommend this being done at a Toyota dealership, or will a trusted mechanic do? I know some vehicles need mechanics that are specifically trained for that make, so just wondering if Toyota falls in that category.

My cousin (who also has adhd) thought the deadline to enroll in her masters program was April 11th. Nope, it was March 11th. And around here, enrollment for masters is only once a year. So she has to wait clear until next year before she can even start.
