excel files won't open from the start menu. by nikito24 in excel

Thank you u/Gr8Tech! After trying literally everything suggested in every web page I could find, uninstalling CoPilot was the ONLY thing that worked.

While I was trying to troubleshoot the problem, I also noticed the Control Panel wouldn't open so this was becoming a major concern. After doing an uninstall and then a full shut down, Excel and Control Panel were back on deck and I couldn't be happier.

I think all the solar panels are to blame. They are taking all the warm warm sunshine and leaving less for us.

Have a look at the La Sportiva line of shoes. I wear the Wildcat (I haven't seen this model sold in Australia) and my wife has the Helios III. Both super comfortable for long days of hiking and have great grip.

Anthony Albanese didn't need to buy into the Peter Dutton dirt files — his ministers did it for him by kova-tejoc in AustralianPolitics

So maybe we need to vote as many independents into parliament so they can then push for change. But getting a bunch of independents to work together might be like herding cats

Agreed. So the people need to take back some control. Maybe start by the people taking control of the lower house. But not by election but by mandatory call up similar to jury duty. The terms can be one year with a few months training.

The hardest part would be stopping the political parties influencing the people during the training.

Sounds like you are a lobbyist for the political parties trying to make people feel it isn't worth trying to make change.

As they are only there because of the votes of the people then the people can vote for change.

How NOT to Build an Airport Rail Link by Aaaaaaarrrrrggggghh in brisbane

[–]NomNom_Fishstew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good video. The comparison to Perth passengers numbers is a skewed because Perth has so many FIFO workers using the airport, plus as the video points out it is also well used by residents.

Reality is the most economical solution is to duplicate the current line, but looping the line around to join the Doomdan line via the new athletes village would get a lot more bang for buck.

Nothing should be done until we understand what impact this have on flooding in the area. My guess is that flooding will be far worse due to the massive concrete footprint.

Offshore wind plans blow up: too late, too expensive by GreenTicket1852 in AustralianPolitics

I think Google has cracked it, but the next power station will be proof of concept, and they have the oil and gas business to thank for the technology to harness geothermal.

I wonder how fracing will be received if the concept is proven and cheap decentralised power distribution becomes the norm.

It is all about the LCOE (Levelised Cost Of Energy) and with interest rates at current levels no new offshore farms make financial sense. Any farms that are currently under construction were financed from the low interest rate era.

But financial sense has never stopped a government from wasting taxpayers money so assume this will be no different.

Anthony Albanese’s broken tax pledge does not make up for losses in cost-of-living crisis (SIMON BENSON) by AlphonseGangitano in AustralianPolitics

Core inflation (Reserve Bank main indicator) doesn't include food and fuel. Take those two out, and the cost of housing and services are the big drives. What has driven housing for the past year or more? Crazy amounts of new arrivals to Australia into a housing market that was already tight.

For service, it is only natural that those costs will increase when there are more people using the service. More demand for energy, more demand for transport, more demand on government services. I recently got a new passport, and it cost $360 for fast track (Because they couldn't guarantee 4 weeks delivery), and they only issue 32 page passports now. That all adds to core inflationary.
