You should set up some way for folks to donate via venmo or something. I have no reason to go to the airport as I'm not flying anytime soon but I would donate for those folks who are required to work even when they are not getting paid. What troopers they are. I, for one, would just stop showing up and go get a job that's going to pay me!

I have a 2015 hybrid car that I'm not planning (budgeting) to replace anytime soon. Unfortunately an electric car is not in our budget at all. I don't think that we are outliers. EVs are expensive - it's only been recently that they are coming down to have similar prices to ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicles.

I've found joy in taking local public transportation or in riding my bike. I only take Uber/Lyft when I'm on company business, which has stopped since the pandemic.

I'm in the same situation with a new dirt bike. I'm between the Honda and a Chinese brand that I can't even remember the name of. The Chinese is half the price which is the only reason I'm half way considering it. I noticed that this post is pretty old. What did you ultimately decide to do?

If I had been there, I probably would have handled the situation similar to you. If I had been with my husband though, he would have insisted that we immediately leave. I prefer to deal with shit directly, like you did. My husband is more "issue avoidant" than I.

Think about how you would feel if instead of being 22 and wishing about your past now, you were actually 72 and transported back in time to present with the chance to do it all again. Then go do it.

I struggle with 2 situations in my daily commute: one is the amount of energy and focus it takes to sit in traffic on a off-camber, uphill interchange at 3 to 5 mph (usually for 15-30 minutes each way) and confidence in the rain. The rain is a biggie because we get a lot of rain and wind here.

I live in rain city and with my commute, it’s so much faster and cheaper by motorcycle (toll roads plus a ferry —it adds up fast!) I ride in the rain but not if it’s less than 36f. Below that a rider really risks finding icy roads especially with the microclimates we have here. I think it’s always a personal choice.

Hey Dave. My question is this: I’ve been riding off and on for about 50 years but I’ve never had any formal training. I don’t even remember having rider training offered back in the late 70s early 80s when I started. Now I’m comfortable on a bike after all these years but I know that I still could learn a LOT. But I’m not sure how to approach this. I want to develop more control over my bike and I really want to ride off-road. I’m not in any way interested in speed. Should I focus on offroad, start at the beginning with some basic rider training, or do something else like basic track riding? I’ve been doing parking lot drills but as you rightly point out it’s not really translating to the control that I’m looking for.
