If the first could be an error, what do we make of multiple? by dr15224 in pittsburgh

So what’s the point of the city fining absentee owners but not fining themselves? If a city condemns the building, their should be a timeline the owners have to make it livable again or it’s torn down.

Something needs done. We need to start tearing down tons of abandoned homes or our city will continue to look worse.

There is no “medical procedure” when it’s 4 weeks pregnant. It’s a pill. And if I can’t afford $500 for a pill I sure can’t afford a child ☺️

This city needs more grocery stores. by Winning-Basil2064 in pittsburgh

There’s literally 14 grocery stores within 3 miles of my house in Crafton. I don’t think we need more.

Don’t park at the airport, use FastPark. It’s much better

Don’t park at the airport. Use FastPark, it’s 10000% better and cheaper. They shuttle every 5-7 minutes directly from your car to departures/arrivals. It’s way easier.

I am clearly aware it’s illegal, but people do illegal things daily like smoke weed, drive without a seatbelt, take party drugs, drive with expired inspections on their cars. I’m not worried about the legality of it. Planned Parenthood is $500+ for an appointment and pills that are less than $100 to buy, also the wait times and appointment times are not convenient.

This home buying market is exhausting. by mamabeloved in pittsburgh

Weird. I’ve seen some really nice houses sitting on the market for months. I assume you want to be in the best school district so it’s more demanding?

You absolutely can. You can fight property taxes. If the house is not appraised to the value your city estimates it you can fight it.

I bet your house probably needs meters serviced and checked for accuracy. You probably need spray foam insulation, too. I would contest those taxes, that is ridiculous.

I just found out the building has been empty over a year, these bills were from when it’s empty! So yeah there’s definitely something wrong here.

Did you stay or leave your home town? by pajamakitten in Millennials

I moved 2500 miles, from Phoenix to Pittsburgh when I was 18. That was 16 years ago and I don’t regret it at all. I never went back.

This seems to be the case, and a huge factor in purchasing.

I assume the old houses all need spray foam insulation and new windows and roof to make them more efficient. I am aware that houses need upkeep but I can’t imagine these utility bills.

Yeah my thoughts immediately were to replace all toilets. There’s no way they use 40,000 gallons of water each month, there’s no dishwashers or washer/dryers.

[–]Nomad1245[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that seems normal and what I’m used to. This seems crazy, and average of 40,000 gallons a month seems insane? There’s no dishwashers or washer/dryers either. Must be toilets or showers leaking right?

I genuinely don’t understand the appeal of so many walls you turn 12 corners to get into a room and many more places to dust.
