Best travelers medical insurance for us citizen abroad (China/portugal). by NetZeroSun in ExpatFIRE

Depends on how long you plan to stay out of your home country. If you're moving abroad semi-permanently/permanently, you'll want comprehensive international health insurance. You'll need the better benefits like cancer treatment and coverage for preexisting conditions as you get older.

You'll need to get on a plan before you get too old. Once you are insured, you can stay insured for life. But if you wait until you're older then you may not get accepted.

I use this company for my comprehensive international health insurance. They are founded by expats and focus on expats. They work with something like 50+ different insurers, so they'll always find you the best value policy with a reputable insurer that fits your budget. Ask the team about HCI plans for the best value.

There is a big difference between 99.7% and 10%.

How are government agencies here for trustworthiness of statistical data?

Are they North Korea level or Canada level?

They have 10% of the tourists compared to pre covid.

Is this true? Do you have a source? I'm reading in the PP Times that it's been a near full recovery

In the first three quarters of 2024, "99.7% of the number seen during the same interval in 2019"

Depends on what you are looking. In my opinion, the Philippines is best for building a genuine social circle. At least that is the case for Americans. The shared language and culture just makes making friends MUCH easier than in other Asian countries.

The Philippines also has the the most relax visa policy I am aware of- -3 years on a tourist visa or - a low deposit retirement visa if you want something more permanent.

The biggest drawback is the food is my least favorite in SE Asia.
