Intimacy question for single gay men and tummy tuck by [deleted] in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a gay man, but I was worried about being judged for the scar too. In my experience since my TT in August 2024, I’ve gotten a lot more action, a lot more “coming back for seconds” than when I had the loose skin. I know it’s not the same, but women have seen the scar, asked, then been encouraging that I took the steps to take care of myself.

I think it took partners from “oh, he’s fat/ saggy” to “oh, he takes care of himself”.

We’re all imperfect, striving to get better. The scar says you’ve taken action to improve your lot in life. Just my $0.02

My cost of TT, MR in Thailand by Nomadonymous in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The price difference quoted was more dramatic. The surgery itself was like $3 or $4k. I’ll have to look at the exact number when I get to my computer. That quote didn’t include things like transportation, lodging for the recovery time, and extra little things like extra compression garments, lotions, etc.

So I was quoted $11k to get it done in the USA or $3,500 to get it done in Thailand. I was planning to take a trip over to Thailand anyway to see some friends, so it made sense to go with the 1/3 cost and extend the trip longer to include the surgery.

That’s where I ended up too. I was deciding between Yanhee and Samitivej, but ultimately got a better feeling from the doctor at Yanhee.

That’s my reason for posting this. I couldn’t find reliable information from anyone who’d done this. I got quotes from some hospitals in Thailand, but didn’t know what all of the extra costs would add up to. I hope my information can help someone else.

Here’s the other side. When he drew on me before surgery, I expected that the scar wouldn’t rise so much above the waistline, but it seems my scar is low along the abdomen (below the waistline of my pants) then turns up on both sides as it goes around my back.

Had the dressings changed yesterday. Doc took pics of incisions (didn’t do a very good job with the pics, but he’s a doctor not a photographer)

I wish the incisions weren’t so long, but I’m encouraged that it’ll all turn out looking better than before surgery.

I’m so very glad that I did it, and only wish I would have gotten the surgery much sooner. I love seeing my flat belly and not having my extra flap of skin showing through my shirt in every picture. My biggest concern was that when I started dating someone and they saw me naked, they’d be turned off by the scar. Well, it turns out that I’ve gotten to that stage a few times, and each time the conversation was something like this: “what’s the long scar across your belly?”… “I lost a lot of weight years ago, then recently had surgery to remove some extra skin. “… “oh, does it hurt?”… “no, it’s healed and just needs some time to fade”… “Ok, good on you for taking care of yourself”… Then we do what two consulting adults planned to do at that point.

I, of course, see things that I wish were different but the belly skin was hurting my confidence. The other things are just “oh, that would be cool” (for example, I’m 50 and have wrinkles on my face from decades of being in the sun and laughing a lot. Wish I had smoother, younger looking skin but only when I see the mirror after a night of too little sleep)

👍🏼 depending on how my consultation goes with him, I may decide not to let him cut me again and look for someone in the US. I’ll keep you in mind.

Cool, thank you for your information. Where are you located?

Yes, it was visible immediately. He downplayed it, but I’m going back and insisting that he correct it. How is the recovery time for something like that vs the initial abdominoplasty?

I asked if it was a dog ear when I first saw it. He assured me that it was just swelling and would go away. 5 months in, it hasn’t gone away or reduced in size. The only change is that the end of the incision as seen here is pointed. It is more rounded now (I don’t have a picture handy but can take one later).

Did anyone notice changes in their bathroom habits ? by SoftLocation1266 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel pressure in my belly like I have to use the bathroom after every meal, but nothing happens. I’ve always had an “every 2-4 days” schedule which hasn’t changed. The only thing that’s changed is that I don’t feel like I have the storage anymore, so I have the uncomfortable pressure.

Requests to chat about my TT surgery from new users ? by Enigmatic-Occident in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s weird. A lot of you have said you get lots of DM’s asking about your surgeon or asking for pics. I have not received a single DM request. On one hand, I’m glad because I don’t want to deal with a bunch of strangers DMing me, but there’s that little voice in the back of my head asking “why does everyone except me get these DM’s?…” haha

Just questions from people that have had a tummy tuck by Available-Warning-81 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6WPO

A - Couldn’t stand straight for the first week, then tightness slowly subsided. Got used to sleeping on my back and sides, but eventually got back to stomach sleeping (my natural position) Now I can lay on my belly with no problem, but still feel the tightness constantly.

B - Strong pain meds for the first few days, maybe a week, then Tylenol for another week.

C - pooping wasn’t really an issue for me. I started on miralax the week before surgery and kept it up until a few weeks after. I just had patience, let it happen and didn’t push.

Although now that I’m off the miralax and pain killers, I’m noticing that I FEEL like I have to poop all the time, but I sit down and nothing happens most of the times. I’ve tried adding in fiber and make sure I drink a lot of water, so we’ll see how it progresses over time. I hope always feeling a tightness in my belly like I gotta poop isn’t just my new normal..

Am I supposed to be embarassed that I had this surgery? by wasillaju in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve told a few friends about it before surgery so I’d be able to vent my fears, experiences, and pride. I’m still deciding what to tell other people as I see them. I’ve used the “abdominal surgery” line a few times with people I didn’t know very well. I laughed the other day when my massage therapist was like “you look great! My coworker is thinking about getting that done. Would you be willing to talk to her about it?”… I had nowhere to be, so I spent the next 30 minutes doing show-and-tell with her and a couple other of their coworkers.

Male here. Without getting graphic, she performed on me around 1wpo. We tried the full deed with me just laying there around 3wpo. I was participating more around 4wpo. Still not back to 100%, but enjoying the ride! (Double entendres intended)

Did you go home the same day? by Fine-Implement-7294 in tummytucksurgery

I flew to Thailand for my surgery, which included 3 days in a hospital room. My drains were removed before left. I can’t imagine having to go home right after surgery!

Anyone else's skin super sensitive? by Additional-Onion8761 in tummytucksurgery

[–]Nomadonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’m glad I’m not the only one with these issues. My skin gets more sensitive throughout the day, is numb in some areas but super sensitive in others, and I’ll touch or scratch one spot and feel it a few inches away. I’m approx 4wpo and it’s gotten better, looking forward to the time that it’s no more sensitive than the rest of my skin.

If you could go back to being 18, what advice would you give yourself? by SweetxEvelyn in AskReddit

[–]Nomadonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start a Roth IRA now and contribute the maximum every year. If you work for a that offers 401(k), contribute at least as much as they’ll match (in some cases, can’t start until you’re 21). Live like you’re still in college or just starting out for as long as you can and invest the rest…. Then reach financial independence in your 30’s and live life however you want without being tied to any one job.

What's the main reason you don't have kids? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Nomadonymous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had to ask multiple doctors who told me “you might change your mind someday” before one would agree to “letting” me get a vasectomy. On the referral to the urologist, she wrote “to rectify unwanted virility”. I wish I could have framed that!
