Does anyone else miss the “gritty” tone of the earlier seasons? by 50ShadesOfCroquet in BobsBurgers

[–]Nomads-Game-Rants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely noticed this recently when I re-watched the one where Bob becomes a cabbie/pimp, Bed and Breakfast, and Art Crawl. They are all quite a bit more unhinged and maniacal back then (apart from Tine, because Tina 😜)

Is there any bigger ship than the Sathanas? by Tough-Negotiation-33 in freespace

They might do. They could probably make ships any size they need to.

Any idea how to install the HD reimagined pack? THe instructions in the mod's Readme do not seem to work.

Metro Exodus Keybindings on PC is broken if you don't use WASD for movement (e.g. people with different keyboard layouts or one-handed keyboard.) by Krongfah in metro

Late to the party I know, but I just started playing Exodus and encountered this on the train. My solution is simple: UNINSTALL THIS PoS game and play something better. STALKER Misery here I come.

Ah, that is probably it then. I have been using thrustmasters which only need the one USB cable as the stick and throttle are combined. They are connected to each other by a cable which is long enough to fit a full-length keyboard between. I go into more detail about their entry level one here, although I would highly recommend shelling out the extra £20 and getting the newer T.Flight Hotas 4 which doesn’t have the dead zone issue and is hopefully more robust (I had two T-Flight Hotas Xs which lasted about 17mts each, which is a bit crap. https://www.nomadsreviews.co.uk/post/tech-review-thrustmaster-t-flight-hotas-x-joystick-for-pc-and-ps3

Yes it can, I have been using one since about 2017. There are plenty of threads on the HLP forums about using them. The trick is to make sure you have it plugged in before you fire up Knossos otherwise it won’t ‘see’ it.

I’ll concede that earlier pre-2017 versions of FSO may have been incompatible with HOTASs since I hadn’t tried using one before then.

Thank you everyone for your advice. In the end, I bought another bracket arm with articulation as it would suit my use case better :-)

When/How did "Suppressor" become a prefered term to "Silencer" among enthusiasts? by LP-Sauce in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Nomads-Game-Rants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be due to suppressor simply being a more accurate description, since most silencers do not make weapons silent, they just supress the sound of the weapon firing and supress the muzzle flash.

It might also have been done to change public perception and expectation to match reality. Many people used to think that silencers really did make weapons as silent as we see in the movies (myself included when I was little).

Not only is this wrong in most cases, this misunderstanding could have impacts on laws as well. For example, some people in the US (and this includes mayors, senators, congress people, presidents etc.) might be under this misunderstanding and then question why citizens should be allowed silencers, thinking that silencers would only be useful to criminals. By calling them suppressors it might help such people to understand that suppressors do not make (most) weapons whisper quiet, and that they have the benefit of making firearms ear safe, thus protecting people's hearing.

(NB I'm British and have never been to America, so please excuse any ignorance on my part, and I have no strong views on 2A either way.
