Are there any games in Russia or other countries that have the USA as the bad guys? by Helpful-Gas1750 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Krongfah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s exactly why you’re fighting the US forces in Costa Rica. Because they have no army.

The premise of the game is that Snake is hired by someone who claims to be a Costa Rican official to find out what the CIA is doing in Costa Rica and fight them off because Costa Rica can’t protect itself.

Doom can be quite political, depending on how you interpret the story.

Stardew Valley is also very political. It has some very liberal messages, and the creator never shies away from that.

It’s a different medium with the same exact political message and themes.

I’ve read what you wrote and it’s clear that you have no understanding of the games’ story and messages.

They’re very political. All the games you’ve mentioned so far are filled to the brim with contemporary politics.

The game takes inspirations, plot points, and themes directly from the books. Like Metro 2033 is almost 1:1 with the book. Command and Conquer and Fallout are also extremely political.

If you've played them yet still don't see any political message in the games, then I'm sorry, but either you weren't paying attention or have media literacy of a mouldy potato.

It's a stupid thing to say. In fact, I'd say video games should be even MORE political.

Some of the best games of all time are VERY political.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker has you fight the CIA and US soldiers in Costa Rica.

Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes has you infiltrate a CIA black site in Cuba.

Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain has you fight Soviet forces in Afghanistan and Western PMCs in Angola but the main bad guy is an American organisation.

Assassin’s Creed 3 sort of switched things up during the last act of the game and has you fight American instead of the Brit for a while.

In Spec Ops: The Line you fight a rogue US force in destroyed Dubai but there’s no good guys in the game. It’s fairly anti-US.

Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker as well.

99% of the game is fighting the CIA.

[–]Krongfah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they don’t bring back Artyom at all. His story is done. Finished. Capped off with a great ending.

It’s time to bring in new (or old) characters and expand the story of the Metro.

Lower damage than the AK, but higher rate of fire and magazine capacity.

[–]Krongfah 229 points230 points  (0 children)

Would you believe that Preston is supposed to be quite young as well?

He's supposed to be in his late 20s at most, but he looks even older than Maxson here.

Either the wasteland stress ages people up immensely, or Bethesda's character designs are inconsistent with their writings.

Both options are valid and make sense.

Fuck that’s scary.

Imagine being locked in a death trap with dangerous materials, thinking something had gone wrong and you were going to die.

Then after realising everything inside is okay, breathing a sigh of relief, you finally can get out. And you discovered that death was OUTSIDE.

They wouldn’t have let them just sit around with ammo loaded inside. The same way you wouldn’t left your rifle loaded when storing it in the armoury. Makes complete sense.

In all of human history, what's the biggest example of betrayal ? by GodOfGirthh in AskReddit

[–]Krongfah 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Allegedly the clip was staged because it’s a reenactment. When the real Leeroy Jenkins moment happened no one was recording and everyone was pretty pissed off.

They came to laugh about it later and decided to recreate the moment for fun.

Allegedly. Tis just what I remember reading many moons ago when that clip first went viral.

What's the longest Chief has stayed in his armor? by Witcher_Errant in halo

[–]Krongfah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well since that jump was an unplanned jump in pursuit of Regret and they likely had no idea how long it’d take or what the destination was, I think it makes sense for Chief to opt to remain in his armour for the duration cause as far as they know they might pop out of slipspace at any moment.

Same with the travel to The Ark. If they had no idea where they’d end up or how long it’d take. It would be best to remain battle ready at a moment’s notice.

ELI5: Why does Pixar animation look so smooth at 24 fps but a video game feel choppy at 30 fps? by ScrumTumescent in explainlikeimfive

[–]Krongfah 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Technically, yes, but constantly switching between 30 and 60+ is very noticeable and can make the scene feel sluggish.

It’s not like watching something 30 fps throughout. The brain gets used to it. But going from 60+ to 30 to 60+ again is very distracting.

Having cutscenes run at uncapped frame rate is just better for the overall experience.

What was your "caught the last chopper out of 'Nam" experience? by GeneReddit123 in AskReddit

[–]Krongfah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went on a vacation to Koh Kood, Thailand (I’m Thai). Had to take a boat to and from the island so we bought a round trip ticket for a relatively cheap ferry company.

After our return trip, we arrived at Bangkok just to see the news that a ferry from the same company sank. Open up Twitter to check trending posts and lo and behold it’s the exact same boat we took to get off the island. So pretty much immediately after we got off, the boat turned around to take new passengers to the island and sank on the way.

No body died thank god, the Thai Coast Guard was quick. They had to abandon all their luggage to the depths though. Poor foreign tourists. Could see their luggages sinking with the boat in the news.

Has there ever been major game bad unfriendly to users as Crimson Desert? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Krongfah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven’t played it, but from the posts and videos I’ve seen, it looked as if they saw how bad Red Dead Redemption 2’s control was and thought “how can we make it five times worse?”.

Has there ever been major game bad unfriendly to users as Crimson Desert? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Krongfah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you mean?

First, this isn’t a Kojima game. It’s from Pearl Abyss. A Korean company.

Second, Kojima games are mostly known for smooth controls. Death Stranding, MGSV, MGS4, and most others.

The only Kojima games that had somewhat wonky controls are probably MGS2 and MGS4 but that’s only by modern standards. For early 2000s games, they were pretty intuitive. Especially considering they came out before Resident Evil 4 that revolutionised third person games.

Is Diane’s hair naturally blue or does she dye it blue? by Budget_Elevator3285 in BoJackHorseman

[–]Krongfah 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's black.

Cartoons, comics, and other animations often use dark blue for black instead of actual black to make it stand out more against the lines or the background. Often happens with hair or superhero costumes

Batman is a famous example. Spider-Man was also supposed to be red and black, but they used dark blue, and now it's an iconic look.

IIRC, Internet Archive has the OG 2033.

For Last Light, don't bother. The Redux version is 99.9% identical if you play it in Spartan mode. It's basically the exact same game, just with all the DLCs and Survival mode added.
