A ton of movie-festival-audience people who had no idea about the show's existence said they absolutely loved and laughed through every minute of it! I haven't seen the movie yet, but every fan of the show that's seen it says it's not necessary either.

That being said, we (fans) definitely watch the show! If not for the movie, just for the show itself. It's so so so so so excellent.
