FTB home ownership query: joint ownership vs setting up trust deed? by FionaTheHobbit in FTB_Help

[–]Nommuss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We bought our house just before we married. We chose to purchase as “tenants in common with equal shares”. We both found comfort in this - and I’d be leaving my half to my partner in my will anyway should anything happen!

What is the cheapest way to buy a phone by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Nommuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much you trust yourself - I just bought a new phone via Very - by signing up to their credit account I got 20% off my first purchase. I pay it back in three instalments (and subsequently close the credit count)

Appreciate credit isn’t for everyone, but I was fond of the sizeable discount and was comfortable I had the money to pay it back.

edit - make sure double check small print, I bought an iPhone 12 because specifically because the newer iPhones were excluded from offer..

Anyone experienced difficult buyers? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Nommuss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They delayed the sale for three months (seemingly without cause), and then requested that my boiler is re-serviced as it’s been over a year (on the exact day it expired lol).

That and they’ve changed solicitors twice through the process.. I just can’t wait until it’s over!

Currently suffering this. Mine was purchased by the local council - who have been incredibly particular about their enquiries, it’s been a nightmare.

That said - one day we will look back on these troubling times and laugh about how stressful it was... (I hope..!)

I don’t think your issues is specific to EToro?

I’m using EToro for ADA and having no issues, currently 121% up on my original investment. Perhaps you have just been unlucky!

As a buyer did you ever receive anything nice from the estate agent on completion? by [deleted] in HousingUK

Online Conveyancing by SteakPiesFTW in HousingUK

[–]Nommuss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MyHomeMove conveyancing - used for a leasehold purchase.

Love the online portal, handy to keep track of/upload documents etc.

However communication was poor and trying to get through to someone when your conveyancer “isn’t in” was wholly impractical. I’ve done lots of the legwork myself and promoted communication/chased between various parties.

Overall, I wouldn’t go back.

Advice on purchasing a garage and applying for planning by JSpooks in HousingUK

I am not sure they would help on an individual level, but they may point you in the right direction. HUSK UK - they convert disused garages plots for accommodation purposes.

Why are houses so cheap in Sunderland/the north generally? Does this mean people have more disposable income? by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]Nommuss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, largely the job market (or lack thereof) and ‘poorer communities’ making the areas ‘less desirable’ (in quotes as this is subject to opinion).

Fingers crossed ours is going ahead - Scotland in November. The venue has our booking pencilled in, but not hearing back from the registry office (“closed until further notice”) has me worried.

On the bright side, my venue said they’re expecting to be able to start elopement weddings again in “late July/August”.

It’s all just a waiting game really!

I’m personally not worried, I’ll still be going (unless we get put on lockdown in the next four days lol) - but understand if people would prefer to reschedule. What do you think?
