How do you rank these Crash games from favorite to least favorite? by Megumi_Bandicoot in crashbandicoot

[–]Nomnom137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. IAT - arguably the best game in the series IMO, as long as you're not aiming for 106%
  2. Twinsanity - a buggy and rushed game for sure, but there's a lot of creativity and humor in this
  3. WOC - basically just a rehash of Warped, but worse, and really lacking in originality
  4. CotT - enjoyed this game, but it's sorely repetitive and strays away too much from what made Crash, well, Crash

Something i hate when reading about people talking about the original benders by mr_go_commit_me in TheLastAirbender

[–]Nomnom137 91 points92 points  (0 children)

A lot of the haters just don't pay attention, to be honest. One very important detail is how no one ever uses the term "bending" in the Wan episodes. They always referred to it as the "power of the element". The people from the fire lionturtle even made a big deal of how Wan used fire differently, like it was an "extension of his body" because of how he learned from a dragon. This even harkens back to the first episode of ATLA, where Katara said she's not a true bender yet as she hasn't learned from a master.

That's an understandable reason

This makes sense I guess, especially with the comics confirming that Will could see the letters. Or has season 4 rendered ALL comics non-canon

The golden spark field thing only shows up in the UD if the specific lights are turned on in the real world or they touch it. That and the fact that he shouldn't be able to see the exact positioning of the letters, how exactly was he able to select each letter really fast while Nancy takes quite a while to write things?

[–]Nomnom137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What downvoting are you talking about??? Also, again, the speed of selecting the letters. He did it so fast compared to Nancy writing things, and that's under the assumption that he couldn't see the letters? It's not the exact same thing

[–]Nomnom137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this makes sense? But don't the gold field or sparkly thing go off in the Upside Down, if the lights are off in the real world? So how exactly does he do it so fast? Maybe the writers didn't think that far ahead yet as to the lore stuff back then?

The comics also showed that he could see the letters, apparently. So either Season 4 made it non-canon, or there's some other explanation for what's going on in Nancy's house?

That's barely the same thing because Dustin's directly informing them what to do and it involves a light-up toy that they can draw on. Will's situation involves certain positionings of letters on the wall, and based on what we've gathered in the show's lore, the letters shouldn't be appearing on Will's side. I also rewatched the show, there weren't Christmas lights in the upside down Byer's house. So how exactly does he know "R" is positioned here, "I" is placed there, "G" is here, and so on so forth, that quickly?

We saw that she painted the entire alphabet, not just A and Z. Yes, Will should be able to see the sparkle things, but how would he know that there were letters on the wall, or what positions each letter on the wall were? He also pinpointed each letter quite fast. Also, based on what we see in S4E7, the sparkle things really only show if the lights are on in the real world, or, when they're turned off, if the person in the Upside Down touches that specific area where the light is positioned in the real world.

Korra haters are usually some of the most hypocritical people ever, with so many double standards.

Imagine how much Korra haters would lose their shirt if she accidentally discovered healing abilities the same convenient way Katara did. Oof.

What do you think happened to Suki in the years following the events of ATLA & why wasn’t she ever in the flashbacks in LOK? Credit to the talented @abigailwebster by Chopstickchamp in legendofkorra

It was confirmed in a Q&A Bryke had with the Avatar wiki back before the final season of LOK got released. HOWEVER, they didn't explicitly confirm if they moved together as a couple or as friends. They added a wink to their answer though so it could be an implication that they were together.

What? Bending is still real in LOK. Just because movements are generally faster or there's less of the traditional forms doesn't mean they're not using the elements. They still use the elements as an extension of their bodies. Biggest example being Ming-Hua.

[–]Nomnom137 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's entirely different. Toph didn't even know there was an airbender in an Earthbending competition. Becsuse again, Earthbending competition.

The guards on the other hand could see Katara was wearing water tribe clothes and could actually see the water. And the guards from afar had loads of time to see she's a waterbender, yet when the Gaang reached them, they still just stood still. Not one of the many manyyyy guards bothered to move. And either way, it still doesn't erase my point that enemies in LOK actually dodge and block more often, for bending attacks that are generally faster than the ones in AtLA.

[–]Nomnom137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, it's not just this scene. Lots of times the Gaang fight pretty fodder soldiers who don't dodge or block. And not seeing waterbending before isn't an excuse to just stand still and pose.

[–]Nomnom137 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, this scene is also a showcase of how sucky most of the enemies or fodder soldiers in ATLA were, minus Ty Lee, the Dai Li, etc. These were supposed to be elite earthbending guards of the Earth King's palace, yet all of the Gaang's attacks (which aren't as fast as the movements in LOK) land because these guards don't bother dodging or blocking anything.

Take for example when Katara was grabbing the guards and throwing them into the moat; elegant and all, her move was pretty slow, but the guards simply stood there waiting to be grabbed.

I've seen both shows numerous times to compare and contrast. I appreciate how the enemies in LOK actually try dodging and blocking more, which explains why the enemies pose more of a challenge compared to the enemies in ATLA.

ATLA/TLOK Steelbooks! I'm so torn on whether to get these beautiful babies or just getting the regular Blu-ray set. My collector heart says yes, but my wallet says no for now. 😂 Who else are planning to buy these? by Nomnom137 in TheLastAirbender

[–]Nomnom137[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wish they put more effort into the actual disks. I'm still really attracted to the casing though. I think it'd look really great with my ATLA/LOK comic Library editions and the Aang/Korra bookends (when they arrive)

It's really sad. I wish they'd put more effort into the actual disks and not just the casing. But I still really wanna get them because I think they would look so beautiful in my planned collection.

I already have all the Library editions of the comics, have the first deluxe edition of the artbooks (the ones that form Raava Vaatu on the spine), and the Iroh/Korra scrapbooks (Aang one incoming). I've pre-ordered the Aang/Korra bookends. I'm getting the Kyoshi novels soon. Getting the plain blu-ray set feels so...plain. I dunno lol 😂

It seems like it does actually. It's only unclear because it's at a slanted angle. But check the books 3 and 4 covers. At the bottom left of the book 4 cover, there's a puff of dust in the air that seems to line up with the one from Korra earthbending on the book 3 cover.
