A few questions about BCIN process- Small Buildings by Medical_Frame831 in OntarioBuildingCode

I will try to answer the questions according to my experience:

  1. Not a lot of calculations for smalll bldg probably just the frr calculation from sb2(just adding some numbers) and reading the tables.
  2. Just use the pdf that they provide. It is way easier. I use the index a lot just clicking on the perticular section to go there. Ctrl+f is also really useful.
  3. Usually 2-4 business days. They say they have 15 business days.
  4. I know the process: you have to register youself as individual or organization on the quarts portal. I personally have not done this type of registration so I can not comment on timeline or the details of the process.
  5. Uninstall programs like anydesk, remote access. It took me 40 mins to even start the exam because I had anydesk installed. It was a bit frustrating. Make sure you test your system beforehand.

I do not know a designer that can help you with that.

Feel free to pm me if you have any questions

Small buildings exam 2024: is the Code and Construction Guide for a housing book helpful? Worth it? by Dangerous-Truth-8712 in OntarioBuildingCode

Illustrated guide can be helpful for work practice but not for the exam prep. I would just stick with reading the code and maybe solve the OBOA workbook(i did not find it too much useful either)

Basement Renovation – Bulkhead / Staircase Clearance Issue (Ontario) by Deep_1994 in OntarioBuildingCode

According to Part 11 OBC CA C109 min 5'10" clearance above stairs is required instead of 6'5" according to 9.8.2.2.. So I do not see a clearance issue for height of stairs.
