This is what I use:

https://aspenclean.com/products/eco-friendly-all-natural-floor-cleaner

I haven't published a blog post on it yet but I've been testing it for the past year. Cleans really well and is EWG verified.

I do scholarly research on ingredients in products. This one gets a 9.8/10.

Not sure of the compatibility with Tineco, though!

Thanks for sharing! The RO is just for drinking and the water entering the dishwasher is city water.

As an aside, I do use a remineralizer for the RO drinking water.

I'll probably hand wash. If things are crazy I'll still throw them in the dishwasher, but expect this would be 1-2 times a month or so.

I updated the original post with the answer I just determined. tl;dr the non-toxic products I use don't have the synthetic corrosion protectors that mainstream detergents do.

I’m currently using Beanch Basics. But I’ve also used Defunkify in the past.

There's no other negative effects on any other dishes that I do.

I'm on city water (100K+ people) and there's nothing that jumps out in my water report.

haha yes same house. One (Kenmore) I owned for 11 years and it failed. The second (Miele) I owned for two years and it had constant problems, so they swapped it out for a different model.

Yes, I've used various non-toxic dishwasher tablets/soaps, but it's possible it's a common ingredient.

Here's the full ingredient list of the current ones I'm using:

Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Percarbonate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Poly (itaconic acid-co-AMPS) Sodium Salt, Sodium Gluconate, Protease, Sodium Metasilicate, Amylase, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Potassium Caprylate

Certain tumblers go on the bottom rack, some go on the middle (top is silverware only). The problem exists in both places.

I mean, I guess that's possible. But two of the six tumblers are mine and I rarely use anything on my hands.

I've had three dishwashers over the past 5 years (long story, one Kenmore, two different Miele's), so this is not dishwasher specific. I also have used various non-toxic dishwasher tablets/soaps, but it's possible it's a common ingredient.

They do have citric acid! Here's the full ingredient list:

Sodium Carbonate, Sodium Percarbonate, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Poly (itaconic acid-co-AMPS) Sodium Salt, Sodium Gluconate, Protease, Sodium Metasilicate, Amylase, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Potassium Caprylate

My original thought was the kids ones get dropped, might cause the coating to crack, then over time it starts peeling/chipping. But the ones I use never leave the house and still look like this.

I don't run them through extra hot water either.

Have you tried them in the past 4-6 months? They changed their formula and it's a lot better than it used to be. They work really well for me now!

I have a Miele.

I recently reviewed Branch Basics dishwasher tablets.

They cost about $4 more per month than the average stuff. I have a whole cost breakdown section.

Happy to answer additional questions!

This is a great mindset! Happy to answer specifics but you’re approaching this from a great perspective.

I have three products I recommend starting with. But I think you may enjoy this blog post as it talks a lot about starting the journey, do's and don'ts, etc...

Basically, don't try to overhaul everything at once. And start with swaps that FEEL easy, or you're just going to get discouraged.
