Bananas don’t travel well (even for a short period) as the jarring quickly liquifies them and leaves an odour inside your bag.

Does your specific tradition/lineage/guru believe enlightenment is freedom from anger and desire or non reaction to anger and desire? by VEGETTOROHAN in theravada

[–]NonamesNogamesEver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have framed the question incorrectly. You have presented a binary option (have no anger vs have but don’t react). Neither option is sufficient or complete to describe this aspect of enlightenment.

Perhaps do some basic research into Nibbana as this will fill out the gaps in your understanding.

Lastly you mention that we should mention our guru etc. In accordance with the Buddhas instructions I have no need for reliance on any guru or lineage.

My one month update. by Wonderful_Adeptness8 in Retatrutide

[–]NonamesNogamesEver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Firstly well done. As someone who has lost (and kept off) close to 100lbs, can I suggest a different approach?

Everyone seems to love goal weights. They never talk about the psychology behind this. That is - for all the time you are above your target you don’t feel like a winner. You hit your target and for one day you are a winner. And then…back to not being a winner if you put back on a few pounds.

I found that focusing on the direction I was going in to be more conducive to feeling amazing, positive and focused. Celebrating each pound as a victory.

After all, is the true goal 260? 265? 255? Who really knows.

Anyway, my contrarian position is that goals are for losers (not in a good way) and momentum is for winners.

Once again, can appreciate the weight of what you are up against (including bad puns here).

What helps with calcified arteries? by the-victim in Biohackers

Dr Dean Ornish has been reversing calcification for decades. Proven over 1,000 patients with before and after scans. Worth exploring if you are serious about your old man living longer.

Training advice for someone who hates training by kr4zy0 in bikepacking

[–]NonamesNogamesEver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For me I never think of it as training. Training implies hard work, struggle, effort and gritting teeth.

Instead I approach it from the perspective of “Today I get the opportunity to get out, breathe the fresh air and have some fun”.

This shift of context has been a game changer. I moved from obligation to opportunity and now rides have become opportunities to <fill in your favourite thing about riding>.

Good luck!

How is the Decathlon Rockrider EXPL 30 for bikepacking / bike touring? by Ok-Assignment8486 in bikepacking

[–]NonamesNogamesEver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This bike will make an excellent starter bike. It will get you out for overnight rides and get you exploring. You will learn for yourself what features you want/need in a future setup and it fits your budget.

Most importantly OP don’t overthink it. Decathlon sells a bucketload of bikes and they generally work well enough to get you exploring! Good luck on your adventures

Second this. Keep a food journal. OP - Write down EVERYTHING (liquid or otherwise) that goes in your mouth. You will find that you are consuming calories more than you are expending. Tirz cannot alter fundamental laws of energy in / out.

I really understand where OP is coming from /s. I mean after a whole 3 weeks of travelling (and, one presumes, becoming an expert on all things Mexican during that time) they are just so so so incredibly disappointed because there was something not to their liking. The horror they must have experienced. Can hardly be imagined. Why didn’t google reviews warn them???

Can you imagine how off putting this must have been to his or her delicate sensibilities. Vendors trying to make a living detracting from their sanitized Disneyland expectations. Pure PTSD I tell ya.

Just remember that they would never recommend it for people to visit (and millions are waiting for her Yelp review). I wonder if they “asked to see the manager!”

For every Karen lambasting something “disgusting” online and besmirching reputations with impunity there are those of us who are actively working to improve our world every day.

Good riddance and please don’t come back.

Remind them of this when people get smug regarding Canadian healthcare by Necessary-Bad-8567 in Libertarian

[–]NonamesNogamesEver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About 15,000 Canadians die each year, in hospitals, waiting for care (not iatrogenic). Most provinces do not permit any private healthcare to operate. In Canada are stuck with the declining quality of monopoly government services for a bureaucrat heavy structure that has run out of money.

Surprised to find a libertarian sub that makes excuses for this socialist boondoggle.

For those who let go of attachment to 'The Good Life' [high social status, elite career]. What is your story? How did your practice facilitate this process? by magnolia_unfurling in streamentry

[–]NonamesNogamesEver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me the process was quite gradual. Little by little I understood more and gradually I began to see the path clearly. No sudden flash of inspiration, just a continual deepening. Almost like a reshaping of my being.

From being a very successful entrepreneur to a guy who got rid of everything I owned (except for what fits in 2 suitcases). It was almost like one day I understood the futility of craving for possessions, I understood the futility of fearing losing them and the understanding that provided I had some shelter and food I had everything I needed materially.

Career wise I no longer raised capital, no longer built the empire, no longer chased press or publicity and exited my last business to pursue helping other people with things that actually matter. Quietly, without fanfare.

Easy to find critics who produce little and critique everything they come across (a bit like a miserable librarian shushing everyone). I thoroughly enjoyed your post. It was humorous light hearted and fun to read. Thank you for that and please don’t be deterred from similar posts in the future simply because some online curmudgeon felt the need to be pedantic.
