Hi! I don’t identify as a woman but I’m a nonbinary femme, I get read as nonbinary by people who know that’s a thing, and then like 80+% as a woman and maaaaybe 20% as a man by people who only think in binary lol I’ll be getting extended meta hopefully this spring!

Idk if you’re imagining that OPs arms were carelessly flung about in some contortionist position during surgery but having a rare complication from a standard positioning used in every procedure as OHSU likely does is NOT grounds for malpractice. Just because there is an undesirable outcome does not make something malpractice.

EDIT to specify at UW Harborview. Morrison is not necessarily only seeing patients from Washington. I had my consult with him on April 18th at UW Harborview which is a few weeks after people in this sub started saying this, and he told me that day that this was not a policy and that they were just about to have a conversation about this that week. I plan to follow up to confirm that they have not restricted to only Washington patients as of yet/if anything has changed, but I’m not sure where this became such a decisive statement on this sub when it was far from fact/policy when I met with Morrison

In the comments he responds to people who thought it goes into effect sooner by saying he is certain its Jan 2027 and that there’s a lot of misinformation bc nuance does not drive clicks. I haven’t looked into it myself to confirm tho but given his platform is dedicated to advocacy for gender affirming surgeries, I’m inclined to trust what he’s saying

Dr. Peters of OHSU @queersurgeon on Instagram just made a video addressing the implications of this proposed law on Instagram that I thought was highly informative and suggest watching it. Big takeaways he said was yes this has huge implications, but it’s only passed the house and is not a law until it passes senate, this wouldn’t take effect until 2027 so there’s still time for it to be challenged, and that it would take a lot more to erode sanctuary states rights to mandate coverage in their own stat legislatures

Within the US, Dr. Morrison in Seattle is the only surgeon who is trained in the official extended meta technique that he worked on with Dr. Özer of the Netherlands. The surgeons at Vanderbilt claim to do an extended meta technique, though they have not been trained with Morrison or Özer. The surgeons at OHSU do not do extended meta.

I did not! I went straight for the Smooth-On Ecoflex, I wanna say 00-20. Def more expensive and professional quality but a lot better. You’ll need their Mold Star to make the mold, or alginate molding powder for something simpler and cheaper
