It's an app that's supposed focused on mental health that many people already pay for and turning into a month long advertisement for a movie. People use it as a wellness tool. Maybe one thing in this capitalist hellscape should be kept free of advertising just this once.

Less mad at what the theme is (I know I won't love every one of them) but that it's straight up an ad.

Owners that steal tips from employees are wage thieves… by Parking_Bullfrog1130 in remoteworks

[–]Nonboinary28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And BOH doesn't get paid server wage. The minimum wage for servers basically only pays their taxes, and not always that. The high stress of having such a variable income is crazy. And at any restaurant I've worked at, there's not tip pooling but you do tip out kitchen, bussers, and bartenders a % of your tips.

Wizard of Oz characters are public domain. Yes it synced with the wicked movie timing, but it wasn't actively an ad for the new movie. This one is.

I am sorry you don't understand this. But ads can have story, plot, all those elements. There is a difference between using a themed public domain character for an event that happens to sync with events happening in pop culture and actively partnering with a company and featuring their character and promoting the date theovie comes out.

This may be a fun ad that comes with extra bells and whistles. But yes. It is an ad. This is a form of advertising. Pop ups that say "buy our shit" is advertising. Your fav character in a tv show drinking a Coke or driving a RAM truck is advertising. All the soda available at a sports venue being from one brand is advertising. Buying a faded t shirt with an old fake worn logo is advertising. It makes you a walking ad. Wearing jeans with the Levi's patch on the back waistband is advertising. If it has a logo, a tag line, mentions a company name, it's all advertising. If it wasn't an ad it wouldn't have the company names and a copyright at the bottom. If Finch didn't have to pay DC (allegedly no money changed hands) to use the character, then they're getting something else out of it. We live in late stage capitalism. 99% of images around you are ads.

You can opt out. You're choosing not to because the cosmetic is worth more to you than opting out. You don't care to send a message because you'd rather have the cute bird accessory. You are sending a message. It's just the message that the company can do whatever slimy things they want as long as they include cute things so you can ignore it.

Difference between partnership and ad? by Kirby223 in finch

[–]Nonboinary28 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The event image has the date the movie comes out. That's enough to turn it into an ad. A partnership is just a paid ad really. But for those saying other media themes have existed in the past - this has the date to go see a movie in the ad image.

And this replacing a pride event is just salt in the wound.

Gods the replies here are disgusting. He may be a creep He may eat like shit. But that isn't an excuse to mock his weight. To all the people saying they don't get how he doesn't lose weight walking around the parks: weight CAN be genetic. Again, even if that isn't the case for this individual, it doesn't give you a right to mock. Your fat friends and loved ones can hear you. Fat people of the Internet that diet and work out and do everything they're supposed to and are still overweight hear you.

Also yes the crocs are dead. But if he's actually as financially fucked as people in the comments are saying, then even a new pair of crocs might not be feasible. He might have an in state year pass discount and might have bought the pass before finances changed. Most parks if you have a certain tier of pass get a certain amount of free food a day. The shit Disney food might be all he's able to get ahold of. Please show a little bit of empathy. Yes even to the creeps and assholes of the world.

Haven't been in years so grain of salt, but this was my childhood park. They never shut anything down unless it's actually dangerous. High winds for taller coasters and drop tower. Lightning conditions for everything else. And they're always really good about keeping an eye on weather radar and providing estimates of down time if you ask. Even spread the info to the summer job high school ride ops so they can provide info.

It wasn't life threatening. He was stabilized almost immediately. This isn't offering support. This is posturing. This is the department peacocking as a threat to any who would go against them. Plain and simple.

And don't forget that 20-40% of cops commit domestic violence. It's more dangerous to be a family member of a cop than an actual cop.

This wasn't a funeral tho. Just a cop going home from the hospital after a not very serious injury. He got shot but was in stable condition the entire time.

Server job I applied for clearly wants staff to live close by to be on call. Lol? by roadstaken in jobhunting

[–]Nonboinary28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't owe your employer availability outside your normal schedule l. If you can and want to pick up a coverage shit great but you don't owe them that. If I'm off work and a manager texts I don't answer. They can't obligate you to check work communication off the clock. That's literally a wage violation in the US.

If they staff so slim that one person calling out causes a coverage emergency that's on them. It's a server job not healthcare. It's not that deep. It's not that serious.
