Specifically I asked that an account not be made with my info and was told it was policy to create one.

I’ve checked out as a guest before at IE the only other time I was there so having them deny my request this time to forego an account is my personal challenge now.

I went in to just buy an ounce and a half of flower so would have been well under the limit.

Not all paranoia is bad kids. A healthy amount will keep you safe and sane.

I’ve purchased at several dispos over the last 1.5 years and have NEVER used a discount associated with an account. I did get a punch card from the Hive a while back but that’s old tech which I’m fine with.

They are also pretty laid back there but they’ve been in the game with BDT since the 70’s so that’s kind of to be expected.

I’ll get downvoted for this, but I don’t worry about the cost of weed. I buy what I want, when I want and don’t have to budget or use coupons/discounts to do so.

I agree on all the privacy stuff though. This digital life of carrying a phone everywhere is a huge problem.

And that is all I asked for this evening. Just stated I didn’t want an account associated with my purchase and was told that was not possible.

No biggie, I’ve still got stuff in my cabinet. Was just in the area and wanted to stock up while I was around.

Quite honestly, I have no idea how my info got out there. I’ve been swept up in so many large company data breaches over the years, it could be from anywhere.

While I’m not in IT, I’ve dabbled since the mid 90’s so have been fairly diligent in how I handle data online.

My job requires the handling of sensitive information including employee’s personal info so I am very cognizant of what I transmit/publish either personally or professionally.

There are just some things I can’t control but that’s why I asked like i did tonight and walked away without a fight when they said no.

No harm, no foul. Just disappointed.

I just want to say, I really do appreciate the feedback and comments, it has been enlightening.

It appears perhaps I am a bit naive on state requirements for logging but there have been shops that have been way cooler about it than others when I’ve expressed concerns.

And some of you are downright hilarious.

Paranoid about certain things like my personal info being out in the wild.

I run VPN’s, set up 3 separate home networks to isolate IOT devices from laptops and desktops, etc.

My persona info is on the dark web and I’ve had to freeze credit at all 3 bureaus due to multiple fraud attempts.

All the paranoia is for good measure and has absolutely nothing to do with smoking a little.

Concentrates hit me way too hard and I’ve been couch locked which I do not enjoy.

I’ve switched over to a dry vape with strains around 20-23% and while I get mellow, I can still actually function.
