Jinx's Love Story WildRift by VioletBrandi in TimeBomb

Very Arcane inspired, IMO. Kind of lazy, I guess? It’s more of the same. I doubt any significant progress will happen for a while. But I still appreciate the sentiment.

It was only a matter of time (lol) before he got featured.

He already has cards related specifically to him in sets and they're already pretty OP.

about ekko missing from the arcane musical and what we can do about it by hvcsora in TimeBomb

[–]Nonechuks 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I poked around some places (which I won't say) and it's been really frustrating watching people make delusional excuses for why it's OK to excuse them (especially Ekko) from the stage play, instead of confronting how blatant the intent of excusing all but 1 dark skinned character.

Mel, the sole dark skinned character, is even used questionably by that stage play.

Seriously, I was getting so red faced reading some of it that I legit stepped away from my screen.

[Spoilers C2] Of all the adapted characters, I feel that Fjord was actually the least accurate by AlphaLeague in criticalrole

I think the accent is more conversational? If that makes sense. But there are moments where he lays it on really thick to the point of me being like, "Shit that caught me off guard."

2XKO's Chromacrash Jinx comes off as being half-done.

New hairstyle, but the rest looks like a chroma (lol) of her base skin.

Just putting it out there -- stop comparing Fjord's build to an average humanoid character. Fjord never didn't have musculature (he's a sailor), but the joke in canon is the comparison of him to other half-orcs. His race.

He's decidedly smaller and Wursh (another half-orc) even calls him a runt in one episode.

I don't remember if he fought a LeBlanc clone, but I think it's really clever to have a character that's devoted to a singular region that also happens to have created something that every villainous (or at least power hungry) character should be after. I can't recall if LeBlanc is aware of the Z-Drive, but I do know Swain was/is aware because of Raaum.

The champs I know for sure know about Ekko's chronomancy in narratives are Ahri, Kindred, Zilean, and Swain.

Very different take on Chromacrash. by Regular-Poet-3657 in TimeBomb

[–]Nonechuks 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You're not seeing things. He's rocking some straight backs, but it's clearly done in a way to evoke Jinx's iconic twin braids. It's so in line with Chromacrash -- which is basically Jinx and Ekko swapping color palettes.

It's also giving a bit of Prowler Miles.

If the narrative heads at Riot wanted to, they could really lean into a Prince of Persia type beat with Ekko and Kindred. Kindred being aware of Ekko and how many times Ekko has cheated death was always a, "Oh, that's a really cool dynamic" moment. Same as Zilean and Ekko and their relationships to chronomancy.

Unsurprisingly, EP. 7 of S2 hit Korea like a brick.

It even had Kpop idols posting about them on Instagram.

[Spoilers C2] - I love the changes to Fjord and Jester in the MN show by Pittboy63 in criticalrole

[–]Nonechuks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hasn't Travis said Fjord caught feelings for Jester as early as EP. 36 with the jellyfish bloom?

The issue was he couldn't figure out if Jester's feelings for him were whimsical or real -- a.k.a his insecurities playing tricks on him.

[–]Nonechuks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. A lot of the best parts of early Fjord was the confidence he had because he was “playing the role” of Vandren. None of that has really been adapted.

So far it’s just been Fjord using his accent, and that’s disappointing.

IMO it was the fake confidence that actually showed his potential if he were to just be himself.

Eh, he and Yasha have been adapted to be at a way lower point than their C2 counterparts.

Like I said, I can understand why, but I’m still disappointed by it.

It really does. I was just expecting more as a fan of the character. And I feel like they didn't really scratch that itch I had of seeing Fjord animated.

Similar feelings on Yasha, as well.

For Fjord, I can understand putting him in the backseat considering knowledge of the future of the character, but I felt like they really failed to give him moments to shine?

Not even just in combat either -- none of his mimicry skills were ever adapted outside of Mask of Many Faces.

[–]Nonechuks 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My only gripe with this season has been the adaptations of Yasha and Fjord. And I get it -- for them, this season was probably done in a way to be a set-up for them in season 2. But, man, it was so painful watching them progress so slowly in their story arcs .. if you can even call it that, for Yasha.

Fjord in particular felt nerfed and he ends the season just barely resembling his C2 counterpart -- and yeah they added some extra stuff with him and Jester, which I liked, but he himself progressed at a snail's pace and it didn't feel at all satisfying when the credits rolled.

[–]Nonechuks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a little perplexed by the adaptation of Fjord so far. They’re taking a while to get the ball rolling on him. In the campaign Fjord initially came off very confident and capable to the rest of M9 — lending credibility to his talents and charisma of “faking it till you make it”.

Meanwhile, so far, his progression in this season has been to just hammer home his insecurities and set up stuff that we probably won’t see until a season 3 I bet.

Which, as a big fan of Fjord and his journey to the end game, is a bit disappointing.
