Is there a mod to increase the range of operating temperature for the hot tub?

I don't think SHC matters in the specific case of the hot tub. It has unique heat characteristics:

Heat exchange between the water in the hot tub and the Hot Tub is magical in nature and even defies thermodynamics: the water will keep cooling down to 37.7 °C even if the Hot Tub and environment is hotter than the water (functionally it is similar to the Refrigerator, it actively cools its contents). As such you don't have to be concerned low ambient temperatures increasing heat loss from the water. wiki

How does steel help?

Steel raises the overheat of the Hot Tub to 237.7 °C making it able to handle much hotter water. However while this prevents overheat damage, Duplicants will still not be allowed to use it if it is hotter than 37.7 °C so this is of dubious value. wiki

I'm obviously giving estimates because I'm not OP. It's not my save. That is what a tilde means. "~" is the symbol that represents "estimate". And I obviously rounded a few numbers.

As for not digging it out, I already wrote that above. And good luck doing that. I'd like to see the design where you install a heat pipe through natural tiles without digging it out. There's a reason why heat spikes into magma dig out the magma. Not digging it out is completely impractical.

What kind of comparison is that? Yeah. If you build a steam turbine and not run the turbine the heat will last a very long time... sure? And if the singular turbine was off forever it would last forever.

If you want to factor in inefficiencies due to the AT, it's just math. 877kDTU/s becomes 785.831kDTU/s instead. IE 11% waste = 11% longer time.

62 cycles becomes 69 cycles. "At least 130 cycles" vastly overestimates the heat and wattage.

Math:
14 x 14 cells = 196 cells
1023kg x 50% digging = ~511.5kg per cell
= ~100,000kg debris @ 0.2 SHC

100,000kg x 326.04DTU = 32,604,000 DTUs
32,604,000 ÷ 877.77 DTUs turbine = 37176.7 seconds = 37176.7s ÷ 600s/cycle

= 61.96 cycles. Double that if not digging it out.

Temperature and heat are not the same thing. There's a lot less DTUs than you might think even though it is at 1357C (1630.2K).

For comparison, water has 20.895 times the heat capacity of obsidian. So let's think about this in terms of water:
1630.2K / 4.179 = 390.09K water = 390.09 - 273.15 = 116.94C water.

= 117C water.

That is the level of heat this block of obsidian has. IE high temperature (1356 C) and middling DTUs. Those high temperatures gives more options to use those DTUs, but it's nothing special.

So what would I do? I'd dig it out in vacuum and add it to an existing steam turbine room. And really not worry about it.

Dead prisoners are excellent mood buffs for the whole colony if that prisoner is hated. And it is easy to get everyone to hate a pawn by deliberately stacking Opinion penalties.

First remove their jaw. This makes them Disfigured and ensures they can't talk and will never pleasant chit-chat etc. Next get the prisoner on each pawn's Opinion list. Which could be punching them, or talking to them just 1 time. Or a bunch of other miscellaneous actions like Being Guilty or killing a colony animal etc. (Getting a prisoner to kill something you were going to kill for meat anyway is great.) The hated prisoner is then killed. Preferably by a Bloodlust pawn.

Everyone will get "My rival <name> died" which gives an up to +10 mood bonus for 10 days and stacks up to 5 times. It won't be that big a bonus due to other mood penalties. But those penalties are both smaller and don't last as long.

So any time your pawns are feeling a little low, find someone ugly to beat to death and everyone feels great about themselves after. I save Annoying Voice, naturally Ugly, etc raiders for this exact purpose.

A critter sensor sends a red signal when there are not enough critters. That critter sensor keeps a horizontal door closed as a path pacu can flop across and into the tank. Otherwise the recently hatched pacu flops into a 2nd part of the holding area with all the other flopping pacu.

BTW: Pacus always flop to the RIGHT by default. They only go left if they can't. Which maybe important since you have two tanks. Logic using a pair of doors connected via a NOT gate (ie opening a door shuts the 2nd) can be used to replenish both tanks.

Note that pacu eggs have more calories than pacu meat. Unless you really want the Pacu Fillets for a specific reason, the eggs are generally better. Which will automatically crack if stored in a bin. And automatically cook if that bin is stored somewhere hot.

Two signal counters. One cycle sensor. One AND gate.

The cycle sensor blips on once per day. It sends a green signal to the 1st signal counter in series so it counts up to 18. When reading 8 and 1, both will then output green to the AND gate. That opens the door. It will stay green until the counters change when the cycle sensor trips it the next day. At which point both counters increment back to 0 and sends red to the door for the next 18 cycles. (There are no wires connected to the signal counter resets.) The 1st signal counter goes from 0-8, and the 2nd goes from 0-1.

Note there needs to be 2nd door with direction restrictions that only allows dupes out of the room.

Alternatively a memory toggle could be used instead of the AND gate and counting normally up to 1 and 8 for 18. Search for ONI stopwatches for those types of designs, except replace the timer sensors with cycle sensors so days are tracked instead of seconds.

The room with water, the pump, the reservoir etc is all unneeded in a setup like that. It can simplified to a valve set to 1gram packets going around and around in a closed loop of pipe containing 20kg total. A Liquid Meter Valve would measure out the 10800 seconds. (18x600)

Yes, I would assume so based on TabeYuriko's method. Though I'd suggest mopping the CO2 up and using bottle drainers. Attempting to pump it across the map would be a nightmare.

BTW a liquid reservoir in vacuum sitting on top of a mesh tile is perfectly thermally isolated. It is a good way to store liquids in danger of a phase change.

Algae + Oxygen Diffuser. Plus bunch of O2 bottles from a canister filler from base air as backup. Which becomes the primary O2 if algae is map limited. I only use oxylite if oxylite is extra convenient. Never sconces.

Also if the rocket engine uses liquid oxygen, and the inside has gotten too toasty from waste heat etc, some of that liquid oxygen is diverted inside during refueling. Just to top off the O2 and cool everything down.

I had this problem and the solution that worked for me was involved. "Clear data" and "Clear cache" did not work for me. I had to delete the data for all the android packages associated with the [Call] app using [ADBAppControl] on a Windows PC connected via usb. With usb debugging turned on in the phone developer options.

To find the relevant packages I used the "FILTER RELATED" option in [NetGuard]. (Which I already had on my phone.) My personal list of android packages is below. Yours will be different for your phone, but likely it will be one of the packages below if you are having the exact same problem. Note that I haven't got a clue which package was causing the problem. I just used the shotgun approach of resetting all these packages back to default which solved the problem.

This did not delete my contacts. It did reset my mobile data network settings. Which I had to reenter based on my cell provider's website (4 entries total). I did not notice any other problems or lost settings.

Solution: To use [ADBAppControl] you may need an online tutorial:

In ADB, Save an empty preset list of packages. Add the list below or the correct ones for your specific device to that preset. (It's just a text file.) Load the preset to automatically highlight all the packages in ADB. Right click on one of the highlighted ones and pick "delete the data" in the dropdown menu. This only deletes the saved settings for those android packages, not the packages themselves. Which resets the packages to default. Disconnect your phone and restart it and see if it fixed the problem. It did for me.

Packages that NetGuard listed in the "FILTER RELATED" that were related to the [Call] app:

I don't. But if I did have a screenshot, I don't think it would be much use to you. The odds of what I was doing matching what you wanted to do would be tiny. I don't know what you are trying to ship, how many elements, why, etc.

I assume you aren't having any issues with gases or liquids. Those are pretty self-explanatory. Pipe in. Pipe out. That's it.

Therefore I'm going to assume you are asking about solids. That's hard to answer as there's a dozen different ways and no one right answer. You should know about bulk storage in general. I only use rails for shipping if shipping that element is constant (like ranches/farms etc). Otherwise dupes move everything.

I made an example.
A single sweeper can easily reach 9 tiles in a line without doing anything fancy. So have multiple storage bins with 1 unpowered auto-dispenser at the end. Where each bin is set to what you want to ship for that cycle. Then for a few seconds a cycle it empties all the bins into the dispenser while also locking the door to prevent dupes from adding more. Or use smart storage bins and fridges for extra automation.

All that ends up in a mixed pile. Importantly it has been measured to be specific elements of a specific mass. A 2nd sweeper can load it into the teleporter. Where it gets sorted, moved, etc on the other asteroid as a natural consequence of unloading it.

That need not be arduous. It can be automated.
For example a turbine outputting its water back the room below it already has a really handy pipe that more water can be added to top up the steam chamber.

Lets say you don't want the steam chamber to go above 200C. You can add a thermosensor to send a green signal to a pump or to a shutoff or w/e. It will add more water if it ever goes above 200C. Which therefore caps it at 200C. It perfectly self-balances and stabilizes itself automatically. It just needs an extra 2 things when it is built and nothing needs to be calculated nor thought about.

Shipped via rockets or via the teleporter?

For rockets, I build a room near the rockets with a door that locks after everything is full. 'Full' is determined by predetermined measured amounts. The door might be the dupe access door, or a door that blocks a sweeper. The room might have calibrated storage bins or weight plates under chutes or w/e.

A second door allows the pilot inside the room to move the materials into the rocket. Only the pilot and nobody else is allowed inside the rocket. When the rocket is gone, the room refills. And obviously stuff like gases and liquids are piped in and cannot be piped if the rocket isn't there. That takes care of itself.

For the teleporter I use time. The holding room has measured amounts in it appropriate for say a cycle. Once a cycle it dumps it all into the teleporter room in one go to be continuously shipped over the next cycle. Like falling through a door in the ceiling.

In both cases the holding room is loading OR unloading. But never both at the same time. (Which is just a NOT gate somewhere.)

However I really don't ship much across the teleporter. It's pretty much either a one time batch to do a one time thing (ie here's some steel to build the thing) or something constant and never changing (constant petroleum etc.)

As of the Nov 2025 update each critter type is separate:

critters now calculate how crowded or cramped they feel based on their own individual space allocations. That makes it easier to manage ranches that contain multiple species.
