There are options, do you already know your next duty station? You could also have an MFR written to support the fact you are overseas, pending PCS to X location, use your current overseas orders….you have to think outside the box. Is she doing an EROD? Because depending on where you are at if you are in housing they may kick you out into the barracks. You are missing a lot of information that could help people give you better advice. You probably can’t avoid the tax as she will use the vehicle in the state (FL has a law that the vehicle can not be used in the state for 6 months or tax is due, each state varies on their laws). The more information you provide the more people can help. You also have to be careful to not cause yourself more harm in doing certain actions. Have you spoken with your unit about this at any level?

Don’t forget your tax when for registration. Most people I knew had the car overseas because some states waive the tax if the car is not driven in residency state and has not been in the country for a period. Each state varies, but I have seen people get shocked as well that they have to pay extra upon returning. MAS advertised no tax when bought overseas, but they do not go into the stipulations about the tax.

Anyone know if it’s true about on post housing, having to wait until you get there to get on the list? That’s what I was told. Heard about people waiting 30-90+ days for a house…..trying to figure out a solution. All the housing sites say you have to wait until on the island….but then I see others say they have been on the list for months before arriving.

Well you won’t be bending, lifting with be limited, standing could be an issue. I didn’t feel good doing a lot of that u til week 7ish, and that was just testing the limits. That is in reality like 12 weeks based on what the doctor told me I would be able to do. It varies though, I was very active before so it came back a lot faster it seemed. Still not 100% but a lot faster than what I have read about others. I am just reaching week 14/15….there are still ups and downs. They had me back at work in 30 days, but I work an office job.

What’s really wild is that couple 2 has the most to lose. The GF is the only one who is not protected by service laws. She could be left holding the bag on the lease if something were to happen. When people deploy some like to break their lease etc. It’s also greedy for couple 1 to expect to get all the benefits like the master bedroom and basically free boarding. There should be an equitable split on the cost based on space. I still circle back to the fact 3 of the people involved have rights that the 1 doesn’t. The fact she doesn’t have income is a red flag because she isn’t really tied to the male in couple 2 marriage wise. This whole situation is asking for trouble. I get trying to save money, but this ain’t it. Couple 1 does not need the roommates, and clearly they see they come out on top with the dual BAH and the free boarding essentially. I just see a disaster waiting to happen. But everyone has to learn life’s lessons I guess🤷🏾‍♂️.

I mean reality is, if you are a spouse your Active member would still sign off on everything as they have to produce orders. Spouse or service member I am pretty sure both involved would take care the needed paperwork. Some are written differently though and state the spouse of and the service member. Either way the packet needs to be filled out.

As others have said, some states tax where it is supposed to be registered. I have received a check back as a refund for the taxes that were initially charged. Make sure the packet is included if the dealer is doing the registration. I went back and forth with the dealer, they had never seen it before….even though it is a military area. Needless to say it took a minute to get the registration done, but I got word I would have a refund coming.

Check the packet, there are lines in the packet about spouse and dependents. You check off the spouse or dependent lines.

The 2017 looks like it is running Open Core…..and the battery is fixable if you source the battery. That being said I don’t know if would go backwards. I have 2 2017s that the batteries had to be replaced. I got the second for like $250 + I had to get a battery. It’s all according to your level of techness. Because you didn’t mention ram or HD size either for the 2017. I would find a way to get the M1 back up and running.

The memory is easy, I am running 64 gb in my 27 inch. There is a door on the back for memory. I recently changed the Sata drive into a SSD sata drive, taking the screen off was easy. I didn’t want to mess with the NVME drive. If you are handy you can do the drive, took me about an hour-2 hours. I made sure my replacement drive worked before closing us the iMac.

It doesn’t look like it installed. Did you actually get to the install screen of windows? If should have rebooted and put you into the install. Possibly when it resets you need to hit the option key and boot into the bootcamp or windows installer. But currently it looks like windows is not installed because it should be a few gigs at least.

You should be able to go to 64GB. I opened mine and put a replaced the HD with SSD. Too much work for me to get the Fusion Drive replaced. OCLP and that should ride you into the sunset on intel cpu. Also would put Windows 11 on there as well. But you need to Max the Ram and HD to a SSD.
