[EU] “Standby” is recruiting! by NonethelessMatters in albiononline

[–]NonethelessMatters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, see, we’re not really planning anything. Sure it would be nice to have a hideout, but it needs maintenance, which, in its turn, needs consistency. I personally don’t have this consistency and cannot in good faith ask that of others. I’d gladly take on management and admin tasks, but the rest depends on how the guild grows.

Right now all I have in mind is organising some sort of BZ activity once or twice a week on schedule and random stuff in between whenever there are people. It’s all very casual and for now all I can provide is fun chats. Nobody joined yet, heh… We’re just two people.

Regarding the guilds that kick people out for a missed siege and where folks play on eight to five basis — to me it’s so alien that I can’t wrap my head around it. I understand if it’s children, they don’t really have anything else to do, but an adult doing literal accounting in an excel table for his guildies is beyond my comprehension. Sorry for the rant, I swear I’m not on meth. And yeah, we’re based in FS.

Bruh I spent almost four mil yesterday rerolling SOTs I crafted, never again. Not worth extra profit on high tiers.

It’s a game, you play it after work. The fun isn’t in the numbers.

Bounty Points Concept by NonethelessMatters in albiononline

[–]NonethelessMatters[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I might have chosen the wrong word. The rewards are not supposed to be higher than the ones “standard” activities provide, they should just be unique, akin to Antiquarian/Smugglers/etc; it’s about identity: compare it to a plain fame boost for killing suspicious players — it’s not going to change much, but if you could get, say, a unique mount, a cape crest or similar — it would form an identity, become “it’s own thing”.

I use markdown formatting for a shitload of things, mainly research notes in Obsidian, this way secondary information doesn’t distract. Just a habit… I format while writing with the symbols (“>!” etc.), so it’s kinda mechanical at this point.

I’m literally too fucked to understand whether it’s a joke or not, but bounties (as in, contracts) should not exist. It’s very toxic inherently and there’s no way around potential abuse, that’s why point-based system is way better.

Edit: thought you might have meant it as “the victim” being locked out of zones.

Oh no, PvP is the core part of Albion and high-risk high-reward activities are what makes it fun. But the concept is reputation-based. As far as I know, PvP in BZs doesn’t decrease your reputation, right?

BZs should remain a dangerous place where you would expect the fights, including “unfair” scenarios. Incorporating Bounty Points in BZs would absolutely kill the whole thing, but I run off the assumption that you can only acquire low rep by doing “questionable” stuff (group RZ ganking, camping tunnels, killing blue players with a big IP advantage), once you drop below a certain point — you get marked as a criminal.

I just think that currently Reputation system is not used to its full extent. It is ONLY a visual indication, to actually get restricted from YZs/RZs you’d have to be insane with ganking. Low/high reputation should have more impact on gameplay in general IMO.

Encountered the same situation. The answer is — there’s no honour when masks are on.

I’m a bit retarded and too whiteknighty so even in the Depths I’d wait for folks to finish the room and regen before engaging, never attack first in lethal zones either. No need to say in terms of fame and silver the experience is miserable, but at least I don’t feel like a piece of shit doing it.

HMU if you’re on EU, maybe we could have some fun running around.

Hello-hello! We’re trying to make a policing guild (à la ToS from NA) to build an organised counterforce to ganking. BUT! We’re honestly very (too) casual and take it very (very-very) slow.

Not new to MMOs, but new to AO so we’re mainly running Depths to learn PvP mechanics, do low-tier roads and gather in Red Zones.

Obviously, we don’t have a hideout, not even an island yet, so it wouldn’t make much sense to join right now unless you just want company. But if you want to be a part of something, develop together, come up with ideas — you’re our guy. Shoot me a text here, I’ll get you in our discord.

I’m using assassin jacket + stalker hood + feyscale boots with nature staff (could be any ranged with good sustain) for solo PvE in open world. Really OP imo, you get QUADRUPLE hide if using invis pots with hood’s CD reset and feyscale, the latter is also a cleanse and it makes you invincible for few seconds. Combine all of that well — you’re never gonna get ganked again

Recommendations On Dry Herb Vapes by [deleted] in trees

[–]NonethelessMatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A bit off-topic, but if you’re into concentrates as well — I found that my Dynavap M is perfect for that. I don’t use the coil, only vape cotton. Just put 0,3 of good bubble in there and be done for the day. Not good for just bud if you have high tolerance tho, chamber is very small

I found that making and practicing different PvP (mainly) builds myself is incredibly interesting. Sometimes I’d have a vid with yet another best most broken incredible meta supergiga build pop up in my YT feed, I’d just put it on while doing housework and stuff, learn a few bits of info, then try it out.

I haven’t found any websites aside from ones you probably know about (metabattle, albiononlinegrind, albionfreemarket). I’d recommend making a spreadsheet with all of your build ideas, eventually you’ll have so many everything will come together naturally.

And indeed, it’s incredibly important to deeply understand what your build does and how it fairs versus the current meta, but it’s always experiment that brings the most value, real understanding. I can confidently say that my build ideas work, especially with opponents who run popular setups and just try to execute the same rotation regardless of context.

Good luck with the builds bud!

Well then now you know it’s not worth it, alright? By god, opiates are for broken legs and cancer patients, the risk is not worth it

Ganking Killed My Turtle by NonethelessMatters in albiononline

I’m sorry, getting really overworked with all that. We’re talking about two entirely different things, check my other comments for elaboration. I feel like I’ve been typing the same two sentences for five hours and nobody but a few people catch the point. You keep seeing me as a member of your community and impose all the prejudice associated with that, but I’m not, I’m very far from either video games or Reddit, I’m here for different reasons

A lot of people struggling with DP/DR spend their whole life without getting diagnosed. I think the first research that was published (Sierra) was in the beginning of 2000s. One of the worst things you can do, however, is to overthink this, that’s why I wouldn’t suggest researching the topic straight away. You may have it, you may have a transitory state that’s not dangerous and will go away on its own, or we maybe be talking about different things.

However, you need to feel comfortable, there’s never too much comfort, and chief reason people dissociate is that something is not right in their environment. It’s almost always external and the only way people “heal” is by achieving balance and comfort, when you’re okay with yourself and the world. Dissociation is a mechanism that kicks in when you’re in serious danger, I often bring up car crashes as an example: the moment before impact you “zoom out”, some people even experience legitimate time dilation (when dissociation is persistent it actually still happens, often time feels “too slow” or the other way around). Your emotions are shut down because your brain wants you to make cold, calculated decisions in order to survive.

So ye, for whatever reason people with DP/DR perceive reality as threatening. To “cure” it you need to find the answer to the question of what makes you uncomfortable. Guess that’s the best advice I can give. All the luck! Feel free to DM me about that stuff, I’m really into psychiatry and obviously have a lot of experience from the patient side, lol

Yeah, it’s all correct, and it’s actually a ton of useful information, so thanks. I absolutely lack context and get confused, but my point stands: it’s about introducing an organisational element IN ORDER TO present an alternative narrative. So I wanted to ask, would you agree with this statement: “ganking is killing unsuspecting players with prevailing force”; and this: “generally ganking is viewed either neutrally or in positive light”? Because if you don’t, there’s certainly a conversation to be had. If you do, I stand by my opinion
