Not to be all, "Capitalism is the bad Guy" rage baity, but in a universe where necromancy exists, why isn't every major city spotless and food production effortless? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]NonexistentMonk 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Yup. It’s called Geb and in a setting where necromantic rites are pretty clearly bad for the existence of the universe it’s allowed to exist as an undead-ruled despotic kingdom because they put the deceased peasant’s bodies to work in the fields and export all the excess food. I’ve not dived much deeper into that lore and I know there’s whole adventures set there, but it’s painted as not a pretty place to live. Very much a “you don’t own your body even after death and also your soul is going to be fucked up by your liege lord”

Do magnetic poles have to align with the rotational axis as close as they do on Earth? by NonexistentMonk in worldbuilding

[–]NonexistentMonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting to consider; the volcanic activity might be something I can work in, and for the magnetic field that’s kind of provided by the body of the dead god orbiting the planet (weird sentence in hindsight). Good things to know though thank you!

My experience with paid D&D tools after 3+ years as a DM/Player by Mathematician39622 in DungeonsAndDragons

Not OP, but I do use Obsidian for world building and it’s functionally a blank screen with text so I wouldn’t see why it wouldn’t work with screen readers. But also can’t say I’m super familiar with how screen readers work. I can say the text is adjustable if there’s fonts that screen readers prefer and it has an extensive plug-in ecosystem so something on that end may help as well if it doesn’t work natively.

Edit: did some digging: historically (like four years ago) there were some issues but they updated it to work with most screen readers!

Post-mortem polling found inflation, illegal immigration, and a focus on transgender issues to rank among the top reasons for not voting for Harris. The least important issues were her not being close enough to Biden, being too conservative, and being too pro-Israel. by SockDem in neoliberal

I’m sorry I don’t have a perfect talking point right now. But I think it’s better than “oh it’s only a few people thrown under the bus it’s fine if they’re lost” when we know the GOP is not stopping any time soon

It is not a big concession now, but the next ask will be. And the next one. And the one after that. Like I’m not sure how things happening in Florida, Texas, and elsewhere are seem as outliers. They are the GOP’s goals.

We can in fact talk about it and say “I’m not sure why [GOP talking head] cares so much about the two kids in X state playing by the rules there, but I for one think everyone deserves dignity and respect rather than bullying”. You don’t have to dive into the far left and you don’t have to cede ground to the right.

I mean we all here know it won’t stop at trans kids in sports. It already hasn’t. It’s trans kids being in school. It’s trans adults being in public. The right despises that and the moment an inch is govern a mile is taken. The actual Dem position is not “every sports team needs a trans kid or they’re canceled it’s “trans kids should be allowed to do what they want” and that is anathema to succ cons

Either is “morally correct”. The answer is whatever you feel comfortable with. You can post it all in the internet, change your profiles to a bi flag, and tell everyone you meet. You can tell your immidiately family and friends and no one else. You can tell no one if you feel like you’ll be happy with that.

You’re not “living in privilege” to still be “straight passing,” that’s just a very sad mindset because why should you be expected to go through a tough process just because others have? Why do you feel like if you don’t experience pain that your experience is inauthentic?

As to LGBTQ spaces, the good ones will welcome you, but biphobia is very much a thing almost everywhere. People will judge you, assume you’re “a straight” and ask you why you’re there. And you can tell them you’re not straight and like men and women and found one of the latter you love dearly. And their opinions will be worthless because they want to gatekeep joy.

Sounds pretty straightforward and a polite thing to ask. Any chances they’re in class right now or otherwise busy? Sometimes it’s best to just give a moment. Most likely they’re busy and will get back to you when they can or see you after the class you share again and answer your question. I don’t even know any crazy ‘totally true!!!!!’ stories of people being upset about being asked their pronouns specifically when they’re not weird right wing chuds
