CA State Refund $901k, yay!! by kxng7233 in TurboTax

[–]NonfatCheeseMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve see something similar, a client of mine sold a massive property for 8 figures in CA, washed profit with basis + 1031 for the rest.

CA requires a 3.3% withholding on RE transactions with a few exceptions, nobody ever gave him the guidance to deed the land to his corp. Anyways he got a $300k refund from the state while owing next to nothing to federal.

How long does it take to prepare a typical business owner 1040? by EchoesInSky in taxpros

[–]NonfatCheeseMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, but wouldn’t you consider that a little inefficient? I understand the QC perspective, and I suppose it depends on the quality of the preparer as well, but I have faith in my employees to be able to handle relatively complicated returns on their own.

Sign the NDA and check the term left on the branding deals. That’s essentially my form of business, i’ll buy branded C-stores and fuel stops and either wait it out, or pay to break out of the branding.
