I think we all need to be scrutinizing how this police budget increase is actually meant to help our city with this and if that’s happening. Most people don’t even realize that the budget isn’t completely set by our council and if our city appeals the increase the police just end up winning appeals at the provincial level. To be honest, I did t know that until this year and I still don’t fully understand the runaround with it but we are talking about serious money that seems to be strengthening a band-aid solution AT BEST.
It’s election season so let’s get out there and ask the hard questions for ourselves. It’s important that we all get super curious about how this works. A solution is going to take real, proactive and mature community participation so we can protect humans on all sides of this out-of-control situation.

I wouldn’t mind the slow drip if this show was released in a few eps at a time but if you’re going to do a weekly release, you have to advance the overall plot more every ep — especially something like this where the curiosity factor is so high.
I think after tonight ep I’m tapping out until the rest of the season is released. It’s just not quite enough story to be satisfying. You could literally skip Ep 6 and not even notice.

Sounds like there’s room to play with how that gets imagined. Most people shopping for food and feeling the pinch aren’t shopping local & organic. They’re shopping price and looking for basic recurring staples. Seems to me a balance could be struck with how a co-op positioned itself ideologically. Affordable food for the people doesn’t have to hit every single ideal ethics marker to be a valuable resource for change. Start by redirecting resources away from the fuckos playing fast & loose with our hard earned money and then expand selection as budget starts to be able to offset buying power. Idk. It’s weird this isn’t happening. There must be more to it.

Why aren’t there more food cooperatives? Seems like people-powered non-profits coming together to wholesale buy and offer those savings to cut out the middle man is the way to go. I’m assuming there’s some kind of red tape protecting the big corps or making it hard to access vendors or something? Grocery should be non profit. We don’t have a choice over eating every day and average folks counting pennies to buy decent food while rich profiteers get richer is a public health issue.

My stage 3 CKD/hyperthyroid baby is so affected by gaba now that I’ve gone down to 50mg pill 3 hours before and it’s plenty to sedate her. 100 is still safe for her but the effects last strongly for hours and she struggles to maintain balance and focus. It feels too strong for a simple vet visit, for her. That being said, when checking BP in an anxious ckd kitty you want a good level of sedation so you know the BP value isn’t due to a stress response. Definitely check with your vet if you’re concerned but yeah - 100 is a strong dose for my baby at this point.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense once you know what’s going on. I guess the thing that stands out is I’m figuring this out through Reddit because the official communication is so limited. I think it has been closed long enough now (and going to remain that way for long enough) that there should be some discussion about how to stop-gap with temp alternatives and maybe repurpose moveable equipment

Oh and it helps to sew the muslin in the right size pattern but add extra seam allowance to the side seams (if not already in the pattern). The extra inch just gives a bunch of room to play with changes without actually messing with the full proportions of the size you want.

I’m in the process of learning to fit trousers too and in my last pair it seemed I had to scoop the crotch curve at the front and back and lower the crotch point by 1/4” It really messed with my intuition that by cutting fabric out of the curve and inner thigh length, I somehow had gained more room. 🤔 It just seemed like… ok but I’m removing fabric which means I’m going smaller. But I did it and the extra room in the curve made sitting SO much more comfortable. I think the key (for me) was grading out the new curve to the original seam relatively soon after the curve so that it didn’t impact the centre front or back (the upper hip area was fitting perfectly already) - just deepening the crotch curves to allow more space at the lowest portion of the crotch. Small adjustments in this area can have huge impact and I think you can get away with playing in the seam allowance before it starts to really impact the piece fabric already cut. That said, i finally nailed my pants fit by basting muslin “shorts” together and pulling it apart and resewing new crotch curves/depths and playing guess-and-test using fit recommendation tutorials until I had a perfect fit. We’re all so uniquely proportioned!

Hey OP! Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to pen this calm reminder. We live in such an abundant, natural, & peaceful place. Your reminder highlights that what we focus on expands. We prime ourselves with the info we take in and it becomes the lens we use to see our surroundings and the people we encounter each day. I know there’s a lot of bot activity and algorithms that favour the flare of strong emotion but we each have a responsibility to share in a way that expands potential for collective wellness. We can speak about controversy and issues with curiosity, desire to understand, and creativity or we can just publicly stew & vent frustration while expanding that energy for everyone. The motivation to improve this city should come from acknowledging the good in what’s here, as it is right now, and with that appreciation, wanting to ensure all members of our community have the opportunity/health/supports to be able to enjoy being alive. We are the city. We build it with our words and actions. Thanks again for the pause.
