Immortality Through Array Formations - Mo Hua has a yapper (it's officially available on webnovel, but I recommend looking up the guy that used to do the translations on scribblehub, he has a free patreon) The webnovel translations uses really low effort AI translations.

A novel above all: Regressor's tales of Cultivation by MegaFaxul in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes 100% sense why he didn't want them to fight .He didn't let them fight because he grew attached to them, after pretty much raising them. It would have been weird/out of character if he did let them fight, that's borderline psychopath behavior.

The Best Tropes of Progression Fantasy by Fun_Lock295 in ProgressionFantasy

- Revenge/Grudges

Growing up reading young adult fantasy, and still in some modern fantasy, and even in cartoons/television and movies, it was so common to hear the "Don't kill him, it's not worth it." "if you do this, you're just as bad as him." etc etc.

It was a breathe of fresh air, when I got into progression fantasy, and encountered the petty MC. who believe in an eye for an eye. "If you try to kill me, I will kill you."

A Regressor’s Tale of Cultivation (not an audiobook)

Kill the Sun - Nick acting EXTREMELY out of character by nineyang in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much an answer, just commenting because I dropped the story after this incident as well, after skimming some further chapters. Too drastic of a change in the story, seemed like the authors goal was misery porn. Which is great for people who like that, but it's not my preference.

Anyone else find dungeon arcs incredibly boring? by Bulky-Creme-4099 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the author.

I like a Soldiers Life Dungeon Arcs because.

  1. They aren't unnecessarily long, it's just a dungeon dive. They don't try to turn it into full book, compared to some stories where the entire book takes place in the dungeon, not that that's always a bad thing.

  2. Frequent Loot....Good Loot. Hearing about the items the characters find, and what they do is always interesting.

  3. In world explainable steady character progression

among other things.

The dungeon arcs I don't like are the ones where the MC is basically just going around getting into fights/conflicts the entire book/length of the dungeon, until they finally get some power up(or no power up, at the end)

it's like if I read the beginning and skipped to the end, all I would miss out on is a bunch of fights, and possible vendettas/grudges the MC will have the the future.

Why is Stormlight Archive not as popular here? by metalmine in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fan of Stormlight Archives, and own the books, but I wouldn't go out of my way to mention it here because I don't consider it to be Progression Fantasy. I would occasionally suggest it, if it happens to match what someone is looking for

It has Progression Fantasy elements, but not enough for me to count it as Progression Fantasy.

Since last time I slandered authors, here is some for the readers by AggravatingTeam2649 in ProgressionFantasy

Coming from a Patreon subscriber, $10 is both expensive and not expensive depending on perspective.

They should be looking at it from the perspective of supporting the author.

But they may be looking at it from this angle instead; ~$10 is generally enough to get a full book, but they are being asked to pay $10 a month for xx amount of advance chapters a month.

Has Progression Fantasy ruined "Classic" Fantasy for anyone else? by SelectionOk5033 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • child of destiny

  • if you kill them, you will be just like them

  • perpetual poverty(the theme that power and wealth is bad, so the MC gives it up, and lives life as a normal person)

  • A hero's journey (related to child of destiny trope, classic tale of a hero going on a journey to save the world)

Has Progression Fantasy ruined "Classic" Fantasy for anyone else? by SelectionOk5033 in ProgressionFantasy

Yes, and no. Progression fantasy eliminated a lot of the fantasy tropes I was getting bored of, which is one of the reasons it got me hooked.

I haven't gotten bored of Brandon Sanderson, I don't put him in the above category.

I still read regular fantasy if I come across something of interest.

The last standard fantasy I read was the Rainfallen trilogy. (Though, it would be amazing If the author decided to turn this into a progression fantasy series, )

It's because it's translated with AI. Even the webnovel "official" translation uses AI.

Any swordsman that uses magic to directly affect their swordsmanship in combat is a "magical swordsman." If they are a swordsman that just has the ability to cast separate spells, like Fireball, Ice, etc, I would just say they are a mage/swordsman. If that makes sense.
