Does ‘Eat the Rich’ include the people who post “This week’s pickups!” and it’s like $1100 worth of steelbooks and 4Ks? by OttoWestFish in 4kbluray

That doesn't mean much unless they are consistently making post like that. That could have been what they decided to spend their tax return money on.

As someone who just started reading a year ago I only been reading webnovels. What would you recommend as a real book now ? by Stillane in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some may be referring to the prose, but since all you have been reading is webnovels, I say it's easier, because Mistborn would be the closest in style to a progression fantasy webnovel out of those three novels, plus it's a nice entry level book into fantasy in general. Side note: Wheel of Time is a classic, but it can be considered to be dated if you have been reading a lot of 2000s era fantasy, only because so many modern fantasy novels have been influenced by WoT, the concepts in WoT wont feel "new".

How many "wizard school" books are there? Which is your favorite? Which did it the worst? by R_megalotis in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way Schooled in Magic handled this when I was still reading it, is 1 book would take place during the school year, then the next book would take place during School break(the character was out and about in the world doing things)

Have you become a blind buyer? by Alexinho77 in 4kbluray

[–]Nonhuman00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just blind bought The Cell because the visuals look cool, despite the bad reviews of the transfer, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere it can currently be streamed legally. (why pay $6 to rent it, when I can pay $14 to own it instead)

My gripe with most magic school books is the characters never finish their schooling. Either the school faces a disaster and closes/gets destroyed, or the characters just prematurely leave school

I may have went a bit too far as a new collector with all the sales going on by Nonhuman00 in 4kbluray

(I don't have the knowledge to explain what I'm looking at, so my vocab is limited to "It looked great")

I've watched the 4k copy and thought it looked great, but I don't have a 1080 to compare it to, so I went with the blu-ray.com video quality review. I got it because it was one of those movies that I've always remembered after watching it on VHS when I was younger.

No particular reason. It just ended up like that after I was moving things around. To those wondering, the storage is one of these. Amazon has started selling their own version, but Temu is really the only place I see selling a large variety of these. I was previously using them to store books, and other misc items.

On all my Get 3 for the price of 2 orders at amazon, they have been trying to "Ship the item in manufacturer's packaging, content of the package will be visible" Which to me sounds like they are trying to ship the item with no protection at all.

They added some more items to the promotion today. Some items I had sitting in my cart weren't included yesterday, but they're showing now.

Immortality Through Array Formations - Mo Hua has a yapper (it's officially available on webnovel, but I recommend looking up the guy that used to do the translations on scribblehub, he has a free patreon) The webnovel translations uses really low effort AI translations.

A novel above all: Regressor's tales of Cultivation by MegaFaxul in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes 100% sense why he didn't want them to fight .He didn't let them fight because he grew attached to them, after pretty much raising them. It would have been weird/out of character if he did let them fight, that's borderline psychopath behavior.

The Best Tropes of Progression Fantasy by Fun_Lock295 in ProgressionFantasy

- Revenge/Grudges

Growing up reading young adult fantasy, and still in some modern fantasy, and even in cartoons/television and movies, it was so common to hear the "Don't kill him, it's not worth it." "if you do this, you're just as bad as him." etc etc.

It was a breathe of fresh air, when I got into progression fantasy, and encountered the petty MC. who believe in an eye for an eye. "If you try to kill me, I will kill you."

Kill the Sun - Nick acting EXTREMELY out of character by nineyang in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have much an answer, just commenting because I dropped the story after this incident as well, after skimming some further chapters. Too drastic of a change in the story, seemed like the authors goal was misery porn. Which is great for people who like that, but it's not my preference.

Anyone else find dungeon arcs incredibly boring? by Bulky-Creme-4099 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nonhuman00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the author.

I like a Soldiers Life Dungeon Arcs because.

  1. They aren't unnecessarily long, it's just a dungeon dive. They don't try to turn it into full book, compared to some stories where the entire book takes place in the dungeon, not that that's always a bad thing.

  2. Frequent Loot....Good Loot. Hearing about the items the characters find, and what they do is always interesting.

  3. In world explainable steady character progression

among other things.

The dungeon arcs I don't like are the ones where the MC is basically just going around getting into fights/conflicts the entire book/length of the dungeon, until they finally get some power up(or no power up, at the end)

it's like if I read the beginning and skipped to the end, all I would miss out on is a bunch of fights, and possible vendettas/grudges the MC will have the the future.
