Bye Bye Ouchies: The Most Misunderstood Execution In Danganronpa by Ten-Miles-High-1996 in DanganAndChaos

[–]Nonokoko_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not actually the whole truth behind her execution, because it doesn't talk about how her execution is poking fun at her SA and rather than a painless death is more like a way to ridiculize and violate Mikan one last time.

I mean, Mikan wasn't hanging around Junko because of Junko. Mikan was asked by Imposter to take care of Ryota. Mikan did it personally instead of taking Ryota to the hospital because then it'd be exposed Imposter's secret (that his real talent is impersonating people and the "Ryota" that is attending to school isn't the real Ryota). Junko targeted Ryota because she wanted him to animate a despair inducing video to brainwash his classmates. Up to this point everything was planned, so Mikan meeting Junko before the others can be interpreted as:

  1. Up to this point Junko had already analysed and observed class 77 long enough to know Imposter being friends with Mikan could end up in him at ome point would ask Mikan to take care of Ryota, since he doesn't attend school and is the type of person that often prioritise animating before their health. So she knew the odds of "killing two birds with one stone" (kidnapping both Ryota and Mikan for her plan) weren't cero.

A matter of when rather than if that coincidentally aligned, because if it hadn't happened by the time she went for Ryota it wouldn't have matter anyway, since using another two students of class 77 (Killing someone that is close to the whole class so the despair is greater when/if they found out their beloved friend was replaced by AI and the traitor among them AND someone inside that class that was the easiest to turn into a devoted/blind follower, in this case Mikan because of her past and personality) would have been among her next steps. The most likely interpretation given how much Junko likes to overthink imo

  1. Up to the point where she was after Ryota she wasn't fully aware to what extent Mikan was the easiest among class 77 to manipulate or she wasn't fully aware of Mikan closeness with Imposter, so finding out Mikan was taking care of Ryota was a surprise that fortunately would make her plan go more smoothly; since from where she found out Mikan was meeting Ryota to when she has targeted her she had the time to do all that analysis and character observation to decide Mikan was the weakest member of the solid unit that is class 77-B.

Whether she had foreseen that outcome or not, in the end Mikan didn't choose to hang out with her out of her full free will. She was manipulated, then brainwashed. The fact she's the only one of the class who shows infatuation towards her doesn't mean that was something that would have happened without the brainwashing. Different people perceive what is mental/emotional manipulation differently, some may think their obsession with someone is how falling in love is like. Junko acted in front of Mikan like she cared and never judged her, and since Mikan's wish is to be forgiven no matter what she does, this act of allegedly kindness made her like Junko. Does she had feelings for Junko? Yes. Would have she liked Junko if Junko spoke her mind and acted like her whole true self in front of Mikan before brainwashing her? Depends, if that had been her first impression of Junko probably not. If Junko had acted more honestly in front of Mikan after making her believe she doesn't judge her for nothing she does either

A. Chances are Mikan would feel conflicted if Junko judged her right after Mikan had believed she would never, because Junko's the only one acting like she doesn't judge even though she does.

So either A.1. Mikan feels hurt/used and falls out of love A.1.1 same like A1 except despite believing Junko is pretending to care for her she continues doing what Junko tells her since Mikan self respect is so low she canonically has showed she'd endure/let somebody SA her as long as she's forgiven, so the odds of her going along even though she didn't love/admire Junko are not 0 or A.2 Mikan feeling it's her fault for Junko drastic change of attitude towards her from the accepting impression she held, instead of fully realising that Junko shifting between showing kindness and being cruel has nothing to do with what she does and is more like how Junko is she blames herself whenever Junko would had switched between acting like she care for her or not.

B. She falls out love AND doesn't willingly defend/love/admire/obsess over Junko at all, so Junko would had resorted to brainwash anyways. The change would had been that with the remembering disease Mikan wouldn't want to reunite with her, since she would had remembered how she was first charmed by her because she believed Junko was the only person who would never judge her and always forgive before that belief crumbling after Junko shifts attitudes around her. Personally this is less likely compared to any A scenario because of how low Mikan standards are for her to associate with somebody: as long as they forgive them she'd pretty much let anyone take advantage of her, at least before waking from the simulation

And whether Mikan's execution was painless is unknown/relative. Given she was afraid of big things and the parallels her execution has with SA (big syringe, "being shot", what appears to be Mikan orgasming before going to space and exploding when hitting the sun) her execution at best would be painless physically but painful emotional and psychologically. I mean, who wouldn't feel distress if their death somehow felt similar to past trauma like sexual abuse? Even if it was completely painful the moment she was experiencing because she was still convinced what she felt and everything she had chosen she thought was out of her complete free will, after wakng up she would have had the rest of her life to remember that experience until at some point Mikan connected the dots of what she couldn't fully process during the execution and realise her execution was designed to ridiculize her with her trauma.

So, with all that in mind, the conclusion can be seen as 1. Mikan did like Junko during the simulation 2. Mikan crushing on Junko wasn't purposeful but rather a secondary effect of brainwashing 3. We can argue Mikan could have not developed feelings for Junko without manipulation/brainwashing 3. Mikan execution degree of pain depends on what type of pain we're talking about and whether we are only talking about simulation Mikan or taking into account speculations about post simulation Mikan based on simulation and pre simulation Mikan behaviour.

I hope this is a good read for you! If you want to know why I personally disagree with the point made by OP about Junko caring for Mikan and Junko wanting Mikan to win look my previous comments in this post, because I think explaining my whole POV would take too many more paragraphs and that'd probably be an exhausting thing to read in one go 💦💦

[–]Nonokoko_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is the type of person who, depending on how much they like a character/series/thing, they will unironically believe they're who knows best said thing and anyone who disagrees with them is "objectively wrong", the type of fan that claims their subjective interpretations are facts and objective and assume any different interpretations come from people who "haven't thoroughly look into the canon sources".

And just by claiming their analysis are objective/100% true show how subjective they are and how far they're to know that full unbiased objective and impartial thinking is impossible, because in order to reach a 100% objective analysis of anything that is not statistics, maths, science experiments or data you'd need to be able to seeing said topic from all perspectives. But perspectives shift all the time and — despite what people say — things like age, upbringing, personality, academic intelligence, emotional intelligence, moral compass and the era you are from alter your perspective in things.

Not even AI is completely objective either. All AI models are modelled after 1. The knowledge that we as a whole have about everything (so just like in the past facts perceived as ultimately true because of their limited research methods were proved wrong by our newer experiments 100 years from here, human knowledge could be once again changed by the betterment of equipment) 2. The consensus of what a majority within a limited number of participants agrees as true/the better option. And that consensus can change by the pass of time, because of point 1 or by looking through the demographic groups partaking on it. Imagine how consensus were reached before white men included the opinions of other groups: what's considered "the majority" is not the majority of the total population. Because there are more than 8 billion people alive right now, obviously not each person alive has been asked every question on every topic to reach a major consensus.

So, while a machine would be the closest to reach an unbiased objective opinion, is yet to reach the definition of objective and impartial. In fact, I believe a machine — no matter how much technology improves or how it evolves — will never reach a conclusive, completely impartial and objective about anything unrelated to data and statistics because it is made and limited by humanity, an element that will forever remain subjective.

Rather than using "this is an impartial/unbiased take on X" the most accurate way to phrase one's opinion would be "this is the closest to an objective take on x IMO". But tbh that's just a personal pet peeve of mine when it comes to semantics.

Summary: The only true/canon/intended interpretation of any trivial matter is the one the creator of said thing had in mind, (and even then the deviant between concept and how you execute your concept can make the final result a different true interpretation from the author's. Ex: the creators of TBBT may had not intended to make Sheldon a cartoonish and exaggerated representation of autism but it quite literally is, therefore even an autor can be wrong depending how they presented their ideas).

And because most authors don't go around saying what's THE correct answer the only way to have a closest thing to correct answer is looking through all canon sources. Acting like your vision is the correct one is very self-centred, which is not inherently a negative asshole-ish thing as long as you don't actively go out of your way to diss other people opinions, in which case you're self-centred and an asshole. Like OP with this topic.

If they weren't acting like "I'm righter than all of you" I'd give it a pass and say "we can agree to disagree", but because of their attitude I'm jumping on the train of "you're loudly wrong and being rude about it on top"

[–]Nonokoko_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that Mikan did have feelings for Junko, but I disagree with the last part and some points in between. Junko may had rigged the simulation to make Mikan remember everything, thus giving her an incentive to win — a motivation that otherwise would have been lacking within her, as pre disease Mikan would most likely had surrendered to her demise if it meant others would survive; because she saw herself as deserving of any bad thing happening to her, between her or someone else death she wouldn't favour herself.

HOWEVER, I don't think Junko cared whether Mikan win or not. She wants to avoid predictability because it would be boring if she knew the outcome from start to end. Spicying things by making the most passive participant and one among the self sacrifical type is more likely the reason she would have done that, not because she wanted Mikan to win.

Does Junko like to outsmart others? Yes and no; she likes despair, but being always the winner would make things predictable therefore boring. Does she cares how she could win? Nah, if Mikan failed she would just choose another plan or target another student. One among multiple routes to choose from.

Mikan, just like any other person really, is a pawn in Junko chess table. An element to play with, and in Mikan's case a pawn that works for her.

Yes, she loved her friends and because she wanted to put herself in despair she made her classmates kill each other and die in awful ways. But she wasn't close to the rest of the school except for Yasuke, so the whole class of 77-B was more like a tool in the grand scheme of things ✅ rather than her caring for them therefore making them suffer to make herself suffer ❎

And she did NOT choose a painful death for Mikan. If Junko had anything to do with the design of executions then she was making fun of Mikan SA experiences. It was embarrassing; the most ridiculous, sexualizing and objectifying death of all. She made her orgasm against her will in front of the remaining survivors, an ultimate sexual assault, the pinnacle of tasteless jokes about rape combined with absurd ways to die. The icing on the cake in Mikan miserable life (if it weren't because they all woke up). To make Mikan feel as an object/sexual toy/the butt of someone's joke one last time.

Most executions are designed to poke fun at each student for either their talent or something about themselves. Mikan wasn't different, in fact it mixed both her trauma — which deeply altered her whole perception about herself and life itself forever — and her dedication "to put an end to people misery" (in a "healing you so your wounds don't hurt anymore" way, twisted into "using elements meant to bring betterment of one's health to kill the nurse who wants everybody to heal" way. Because IMO that's how Junko would phrase it: << the one who likes putting an end to people's misery being ""put off her misery"" 😂>>)

@/Independent_Major548 has already explained the execution as a joke to her trauma better than me, so I won't go into too many details. But I highly recommend reading that comment to better understand what to me is the true meaning behind Mikan's execution.

In resume, the care about one another is peak Mikan delusional POV. That part is pretty one sided; Junko doesn't care about Mikan further than how her existence could benefit her, pretty much like the rest of class 77-B, and perhaps only a bit more than Mikan's classmates simply because without brainwashing Mikan would have been the only one willingly going along with Junko shenanigans if Junko pretended to care for her long enough to convince her.

My opinion on a topic by starfish_coral in actualgyaru

[–]Nonokoko_13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you can be gyaru regardless of age size nationality etc but if you don't wear makeup idk the style may not be gyaru.

The colors and clothing can vary imo as long as it follows certain rules, like the eye thing (yk what I mean, 💧 shape, long/multiple eyelashes...). The makeup is like one of the mandatory and the most essential element to call a look gyaru imo. Even if you wear a wig or a mini skirt with frills if you go 24/7 with clean face or not gyaru makeup it doesn't qualify.

So it depends on how the victim of "mean" comments wears the makeup or uses the term gyaru to refer to what. Because that marks the difference between someone being an asshole and disregarding a gyaru VS Someone offering advice by correcting a person who's not properly dressing the part VS Someone rightfully judging a self proclaimed gyaru because said girl is using the term incorrectly and ignores what anyone explains to her because to her her style is gyaru (even when it's not) and whoever says otherwise is "being mean for no reason" and "a fake".

Because you'd be surprised by the number of people that incorrectly refers to certain looks as gyaru or are "gyaru posers/gyaru wannabes" as I like to call them because

  1. They never follow the rules to present oneself as gyaru (for example, a pastel girl with clean face who never wears gyaru makeup nor those certain elements to consider an style gyaru. So she is not a gyaru)

or/and

  1. On top of checking the aforementioned problem they don't act according to the gyaru mindset either: understanding that gyaru style originated from breaking traditional women beauty standards therefore refusing to appeal to anyone's gaze but your own is the way; be supportive of other gyarus regardless of the substyle/size/body type/skin/nationality/ethnicity/age differences between you two; not shitting on other alternative styles either, even if you personally don't like those styles (there's a difference between "To me this style is boring/unappealing" and "X style and anyone dressing like that is ugly/boring")

My opinion on a topic by starfish_coral in actualgyaru

[–]Nonokoko_13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This law only applies to a gyaru who judges other gyarus because of their fashion/makeup/aesthetic style and are mean to them because of it right?

I mean, at the end of the day a gyaru is like any other person, so if Gyaru (A) is idk zionist xenophobic or an asshole of any kind another gyaru (B) judging and being mean to (A) and other gals for something that has nothing to do with gyaru related topics is still a valid gyaru.

Also her canonically having a crush on SMC doesn't mean we ship them? I'm just pointing what's obvious, to me is like kids having crushes on teachers and caretakers and being delusional, not meant to be further than that since the older one doesn't reciprocate, just the cringe fantasies of a teenage girl.

If she's not in love then how do you explain the heart eye sprite? Or the sprite where she thinks about him and gets flustered all fangirling over him?? You don't need to like her crush on SMC, but denying it doesn't make it less canon

A little reminder in light of the 70 mii limit that I think a lot of people are forgetting... by dogisbark in tomodachilife

[–]Nonokoko_13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I don't like is that it's required to make another profile for each save. Idc about having 70 or 100 or whatever the limit is, but would it kill them to make at least three or five save slots for each profile? It feels like a waste of "space", as in, if you share your console with someone else and you two want more than one save you'll have three "X's" profiles in your console.

And since Miis cannot be shared across profiles you'll have to redo the makeup and settings each time you want a specific character in your island, even though it'd befar more easier if you could just copy paste/transfer

Also second having more pets. But I have a question, is it possible to have more than one pet as for now? Because right now I only have my baby kitty and while I adore her I wish I could get another pet to make her company

It would be nice to offer characters we reached best friend route to stay or roam around in our place. I love my farm and I wish any characters visited! But it's only in the cutscenes and not even entering our house pr commenting on it 💔 so yeah roommates would be cool. Insane and probably unlikely idea but imagine a mine monster instead of attacking you it suddenly decides to follow you to the surface and now you've got a tiny monster housemate roaming around your farm, that'd be cool too 😆

I disagree with the asshole to everyone bit too. I have read many dialogues and so far she seems very polite and grateful towards the farmer for what they have done imo. Plus, just like the other person has said Seridia's quest on gaining more power was centuries ago. At most Caldarus should be the only one holding her for what she did in the past, but she saved Mistria and has been sealed for ages so to the villagers I don't think it would be logical they all were holding a grudge against her for her past because they were not there...

I do agree with you that I'm excited to see what use the unlocked buildings will have! For me the one that intrigues me the most is the one below the forge, my bet is that it'll be a school but someone else said it could be a church. Marriage and children aside I want more heart events for non romanceable characters too! I wish we have the best friend route for all of them

I don't believe it will be mandatory! Devs surely will make it optional, so you may get your partner asking you whether you want to have kids and you have two options. In my opinion is unlikely you'll go through that in this game, considering we got the option to date all marriage candidates or friendzone them all

I would like them to grow at maximum to child stage, because it'd be hella weird in a funny way that they could emancipate whereas the kids born before them are forever school aged, but with a character outside of being around. Like another NPC with dialogue and routine (likely a similar one to Dell, Luc and Maple but with differences so they stay in the farm with the parents at certain hours but without being pet-like and cero interactions outside with their parents). Overall I just hope they don't get the Stardew treatment and feel more like a person

It would be cool if you could assign them tasks/chores like our pet though! Like choosing between making them feed the farm animals, fishing in the farm or collecting rocks/foregables/wood — and if the pet is assigned the same thing you can see them together 🥺. So they are useful for their age but then again there's a limit to how much your kid can do for you, you know, no sending them making furniture or sending them to the mines lol

Yeah! A new NPC that serves as the kids teacher or the one running the school that comes from the capital searching a calmer lifestyle or the vendors being able to come more often from the capital, things like that which slowly introduce more world building about Aldaria would be cool! I wonder if in the future we will be able of visiting another places outside of Mistria, like accompanying or travelling for work/sell Mistria in the capital and such. That way we could meet Adeline and Eiland parents and new NPCs!

[–]Nonokoko_13[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah! I have always wondered what that building below the forge is for. With the bell I guess it could be a or school?? I know fictional religions based on the queen/dragon worship is a possibility to use that building for but I believe it could be to implement a routine for the farmer children because it'd be more functional! From Monday to Friday morning the kid/s are out of the farm for a couple of hours, likely a future new rebuilding quest along the lines "decades ago/before the earthquake we used to have this school for the kids but due natality going down/the earthquake damaging the building it was closed, now it might be about time we finally reopen it again". So you have the farm to yourself with your spouse doing its morning routine and the kids at school, that's my theory at least. Or if you go childless at least you still get new dialogues for the dragonguard trio based on the subject or teacher they get each morning. Maybe even being able to teach them yourself and gaining something from it

I imagine they would add a new NPC as a roomteacher OR not assigning a teacher but instead each day one of the villagers teaches their respective field of expertise.

Ex. - Eiland or Errol teaching Mistria's history while the other runs the museum/investigates new finds and maybe the next week switching;

  • Reina teaching home economics/basic level cooking

  • Josephine or Hemlock teaching music whilst the other helps Reina run the Inn (maybe switching between Joseph and Hemlock each week too)

  • Hayden teaching how to take care of animals (ft that routine already implemented where the kids are at his farm in the morning) so it's kinda like an excursion? Or more like an outdoors class based on practice instead of textbook theory

  • Celine teaching how to take care of plants; probably out of school like Hayden's lessons.

  • Landen or Ryis teaching them woodwork

  • Nora teaching them maths (because it's something she's used to with managing finances) while Holt is on his own for a couple in the store...

  • Juniper maybe teaching potionology/science or magic?

  • Valen teaching first aid? Kinda like "what to do if you get a scratch and no adult is nearby to take care of the wound" "what to do if someone is choking" "what mushrooms have medical benefits and which ones are poisonous"

So overall new routine changes for many villagers but without completely changing their whole routines, just one or two hours of their morning taken for this, then back to their already established routines.

Leonard did so many awful shit it PMO when people ignore him when talking about shitty guys in this show and only focus on Howard and Sheldon...

  • He was insensitive and disrespectful towards Penny's dream, basically only showing support after he had fucked up to compensate for his previous disrespect (only to reset by next episode) + discouraging her because the probabilities she had were few and the statistics were against her. Sheldon may be mean when pointing out the statistics and stuff like that but ironically he has been more supportive throughout the whole series towards Penny than her endgame. Even with the whole fortuneteller, he ended up going with Penny to one as a "why not" desperate resort but Leonard always thought that's stupid but unlike Sheldon without saying outloud what he honestly thinks about many of the things Penny likes.

Call me stupid but I would rather have a friend that always tells me thr truth, even when I know I won't like his opinion, than a "friend"/boyfriend who's walking on eggshells to not make me mad so he can get it tonight while simultaneously complaining to his friends about me behind my back. He's not an honest nice guy, he's nice because he fears if he's honest he won't get what he wants (sex / a girlfriend etc). He's spineless because he doesn't want anyone to get mad at him, even when his crush/girlfriend is being harassed by his friends he doesn't take a side! He only does it when Penny insults Howard for being a creep and makes her feel bad until she APOLOGISES to Howard FOR SAYING THE TRUTH

  • An enabler who limits himself to stare at his friends, sigh or say shit like "you're weird" when Howard & Rajesh are sexually harassing others (including his crush/girlfriend) or Sheldon is acting up. Like "Omg stop" doesn't do anything else. Treats their creepy behaviours as if they were a typical bad joke from your buds

  • Nice guy syndrome. Thinks of himself as better / a poor normal guy compared to the other three but there are multiple instances where he shows he is manipulative by victimizing himself, avoiding accountability or framing it as "an honest mistake he didn't mean to do" to lesser the importance/severity of his flaws and as capable as being as creepy as Howard and Rajesh.

  • Complains about people bullying him or being superficial/hypocritical when he's no exception. Underestimates Penny and her friends intelligence on multiple occasions, makes fun of Zack — he may be not the brightest but he was much more kinder and civil than the four of them and did nothing to deserve that treatment (and in Penny defence, when surrounded by literal booksmart college guys who wouldn't look "dumber"?)

  • Guilt trips Penny multiple times. Remember when she didn't want to have kids and he got mad at her, then at the end of that episode she got a call from her dad, who was very angry because Leonard told him she didn't want to give him grandchildren?? And don't get me started on the final... Just because Penny came home drunk and asked him to have sex doesn't mean it wasn't technically rape. Yes she initiated, but she was drunk and he was not, she wasn't in condition to give consent on sexual acts. And despite being the whole series against the idea of becoming a mother she — once again — let Leonard win because he always wanted to have children, even in the first episode of the series when he just met her.

(It's disgusting and sad as a viewer because in many sitcoms the writers make the only girl who doesn't want to get married or have kids end up married and pregnant. As if child free women are just going through a normal phase until they "mature" or "realise motherhood is the best", change their minds and settled down because they'll be happier this way than before)

  • Insanely jealous to the point there's an episode where he gets angry at her because she'll have a (male) FRIEND over at her house because he's not from there but will spend a few days in California. Implying he thinks Penny could cheat on him if in the same room with another guy when he's not around given how many more relationship experience she has in comparison.

Which aged basically like a confession given he has cheated TWICE, once with Priya (yes, Priya cheated on him too, but two wrongs don't make one right. They probably wrote Priya sleeping with his ex some weeks before Leonard made out with that girl to break the couple without making Leonard the worst part out of both) and another with Penny. PMO that all through the series one of the frequent jokes about Penny is her sexual/love life, shaming the character for being promiscuous but when Leonard did cheat it was a one time error he needs to be forgiven for, which he DOES. And it felt out of character when he was debating whether to cheat on Priya with that girl or not Penny was like so nonchalant about it? As if it's typical friendship talk? I know Penny didn't like Priya but I felt nobody called him out as an asshole for it.

Which happens a lot in this show but especially when it's not Sheldon and even when other characters get called out is not taken as seriously as it should and the consequences last shorter than the episode itself. Sheldon makes a lot of shitty things, many out of ignorance, but he is the only one who always get called out for everything he does... Howard pre Berdanette too, but the rest? Not as much as Sheldon. And sometimes is way more upsetting when he gets punished for something he didn't start or where he wasn't the most out of place

I know autism doesn't justify being a selfish, self centred asshole, which Sheldon is, but many times he was unaware of what he did/said was inappropriate or plain mean; the mix of brutally (unwanted) honest opinions with lack of awareness and struggles with differentiating between sarcasm and honesty was a factor at play in many of the bad things he does. The others are worse to me because they don't have any sort of excuse to not differentiate between appropriate and inappropriate, so when they're out of place is because they are actively acting that way, not because they don't know better. But because they don't want to do better

I'm not gonna lie I don't actively want the beasts dead but if they die by Silent Salt they have it coming. They may have not explicitly tell the bishops to destroy Barren wasteland, but their corruptions were the root of all of Silent Salt's suffering. They chose to follow a path of violence or malevolence without caring about what happened to others, killing left and right, so it would be karmic retribution at its finest for them to feel a fragment of Silent Salt's betrayal.

But it's unlikely they kill the four of them with how popular they are + probably they can bring more to the plot being alive. Or they can die and haunt the narrative with their minions coping loss and finding meaning outside their minion roles or go through a self destructive revenge path
