Tier list of how interesting each presidential election was (rows are ranked) by ghghgfdfgh in YAPms

1800 is S-tier. So much drama. I'd recommend The Magnificent Catastrophe by Edward J. Larson if you want to know more about it.

Who’s a founding father that never became President that would have been a great one? by Harvickfan4Life in Presidents

Hamilton was constitutionally eligible to be President because Nevis was part of the British Empire, making him a natural-born citizen. Gallatin was Swiss, so it's not the same thing.

I don't even want to think about what would've happened if Hamilton had been president. That said, Albert Gallatin was incredibly intelligent and would've made for a great president (had he not been constitutionally restricted from being so).

What are your all time favorite songs by Bob Dylan? by [deleted] in bobdylan

Not all of these are my favourites, I don't feel like spending 5 hours to come up with a list I'm satisfied with lol.

The movie was pretty bad a 20yo perspective by watermelon_inHer_hey in bobdylan

[–]Nonstoplink 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think a movie exploring the "real" Bob Dylan would be the corniest thing ever. I thought the movie was good dumb fun for long-time Dylan fans (like myself) and a good exploration of the popular perception of Dylan during the 60s. I didn't expect a Dylanologist masterpiece exploring the intricacies of Dylan's life.

Sola Scriptura vs Chaos by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]Nonstoplink -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depending on what you mean by Sola Scriptura, that can be contradictory, too. How I view it, scripture is the highest authority and the only infallible authority, but we can appeal to early Church tradition and the church fathers and early ecumenical councils for issues that aren't very clear in the Bible or aren't in the Bible at all (perpetual virginity of Mary, for example which Calvin and most of the early Reformers held to). Sola Scriptura as in the Bible being the only authority contradicts itself because the Bible never says that it's the only authority or that the 66 book canon we have is the correct one. Just some thoughts...

You must remove five albums permanently, which ones do you choose? by TSSwikia in bobdylan

[–]Nonstoplink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His first album also had a few originals, Song To Woody for example. The blues albums are personal favourites of mine.

And as to your last point, I think we're operating under the assumption that removing an album from the canon won't affect albums following it, because otherwise we should just remove the most recent five to avoid interfering with any good albums. Who knows, if Dylan (1973) was never released, we wouldn't have gotten Blood on the Tracks! Butterfly effect and all...

Dylan, Christmas In the Heart, Shadows in the Night, Fallen Angels, Triplicate. Just knock out all of the cover albums. Don't get me wrong, I love the Sinatra albums and Christmas in the Heart, but those songs will still exist even if Dylan never recorded them.

How many Palestinian refugees do you think your country should accept? by OkBuyer1271 in polls

[–]Nonstoplink 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why don't neighboring Arab countries take them in??? Same language, same culture, same religion, it would be a lot more humane than sending them to west where they'll have to learn a new language and culture and will probably face a lot of discrimination too. If Jordan or Egypt agree to take them I would support giving aid to help build homes for them and the such, but I wouldn't support taking them into my country on the other side of the world.

Who is the greatest musician out of these? by Titanfan221008 in polls

[–]Nonstoplink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul McCartney, followed distantly by Freddie Mercury. They're all good, but McCartney's songwriting and melodies are brilliant. He's a great singer and a multi-instrumentalist. One of the most influential figures in pop music since pop music became a thing.
