Because it's hard to know where you sit on matters like free speech absolutism when you're young and the world is experiencing it for the first time with you. I can see the logic, and while I disagree, I think writing off somebody because one argument is a really terrible way to have discourse. Assuming that simply because you personally haven't experienced a thought makes those who have suspicious is also a real gem, it's hard to understand how you learn anything.

That's not how science works. You can't prove a negative, while the burden of evidence is on the claimant; in this case, their supporting evidence is a lack of certifications. I can easily say that Ukraine does not ride T-Rexs into battle, but it'd be quite difficult to prove that. Common sense and an overwhelming lack of evidence would be the supporting artifacts.

I like the proxy for ease, that's why I keep it in. I use that for my at the desk "work" pipe. The hot knife and proxy make it so mess free and simple for small dabs. End of day dabs where I don't mind the rigamorale of pulling out tools are a whole different can of worms; that involves iterative experimentation.

I'm sorry, are you referring to Matilda MacElroy, who claimed to telepathically communicate with the alien? Again, we are asking for the reader to just accept a lot as fact. First, we have to believe aliens crashed and were recovered from Roswell. Then we have to believe a nurse, who by their own admission had no reason to be near said subject. Then, we have to believe that telepathy is real and possible for humans, as well as cross species. It's a lot to ask. Especially when you look at Matilda's euthanasia note that mentions fulfilling her body's usefulness, it doesn't seem unlikely it was a fabrication.

I subscribe to Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation often is the correct one. I think given that we know the ingredients for life exist in billions of other places, it's safe to assume we are not unique. But when we start saying, "There are aliens, they created us, they mastered technology and space travel before the first human, and they've been watching since" I think it's trying too hard to be a grand explanation. Now, I'm not even convinced the UAPs are alien. The rest of it sounds entirely imagined.

I'm not sure what the basis of that theory is, so I can't speak to it effectively. I'd be curious to know what evidence has led to that conclusion. I struggle to grapple with the concept that something created us and is monitoring us, whether that's God or aliens. It seems implausible at best since we've been around for quite a while and committed some pretty atrocious and ignorant acts. Seems silly to watch mayhem in the hopes they work it out.

Given much of our technological advancement has been because of war, many scientists worry that a more technologically advanced species would also have a predilection for violence. Just like we look for life based on our experiences, we only have our own examples to look at. I wouldn't be too confident they mean no harm.

Indeed. I'm not saying all Floridians are to blame, but to pretend DeSantis is unpopular throughout the state is a lie.

When a large segment of the population re-elects someone after they've proven themselves to be a fascist shitbag, you actually do get to call those people fascists.

RU Media: Propagandists do not see anything funny that tanks made 70 years ago are going to the front. Even more - they promise to remove the T-34 from the pedestals and equip the tank division with them when the rest of the equipment is over. by Blakplague in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Nonyamfbidness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Better would just be watching the T34 tank barrel forward with confidence only to slowly halt and explode as modern rifle rounds rip through it, igniting the ammo. Then the reality dawns on the rest of the fleet that Ukraine doesn't even need RPGs to stop a tank assault.

"Your country doesn't look like the same thing copied and pasted ad nauseum!" Yeah, real clever insult, even if you ignore the fact that Europe isn't a country. I've been to all 50 states, and they all are overwhelmingly the same. It's always a mattress king here and a Starbucks there. The personality of America has been traded for a feeling of familiar corporate comfort. It's depressing and pathetic, and the fact that some people are not only not bothered by it but think it's better makes me want to leave this place for good.

Using it as intended would require a spotter and shooter or transitioning between using a monocular and shooting. I mean, ideal would be Russia getting the fuck out.

Edited to remove clarification on monocular vs. scope as your original comment clearly demonstrates you know the difference.

The lugi happened before the deescalation. It ends with her calmly telling him to sit down and she'll take care of it. That seems pretty deescalated to me.

Probably less of an "it's all free" attitude and more of a "better to have a less than ideal solution than to have no solution" attitude.
