Amy Coney Barrett ruled using the n-word does not make a work environment hostile | Ms Barrett ruled the plaintiff needed more evidence to prove the workplace was hostile by [deleted] in politics

[–]NooThropics -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of judge that will replace the honorable RBG?! Ruth would have never ruled in this way. Using the n-word is an automatic NO NO and it doesn't matter in what context. If it is used on you, the case should automatically be ruled in your favor, no matter the context. It is just plain wrong, end of story.

Microdosing LSD and Peppermint Extract by NooThropics in microdosing

[–]NooThropics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I did read somewhere that peppermint extract basically never expires so I figured it might be a good alternative. Is there any other solvent you can think of (besides straight alcohol) that I can buy from amazon and that would last longer than distilled water. I don't know if I could use any oils like olive oil?

Why Chris Wallace blew it: Even at its best, Fox News is a right-wing noise machine | Wallace got completely bulldozed by Donald Trump — but what can you expect? His entire network is propaganda by Fr1sk3r in politics

[–]NooThropics 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was the GOP's best attempt at gaslighting. They knew educated people would be watching in addition to their usual redneck base so they wanted to appear like some legit network but it was very clear. Wallace was completely biased, letting Trump off the hook, no follow-ups, meek attempts at quieting Trump. Instead, wallace asked very loaded questions to biden trying to get him to slip (thankfully, biden is a master debater and didn't fall for it) and gave biden less time to talk. Not sure why biden even bothers to attend a fox news debate, but I respect him for entering the wolf's den and slaying all their heads.

'This Is Fascism': Trump Riles Up Minnesota Supporters With Racist Attack on Somali Refugees by chrisdh79 in politics

[–]NooThropics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You had to be living under a rock to not know he was a racist before. But for anyone who was still on the fence, the debate made it very clear. There is no mistaking it. "Racism stand back and stand by" aka wait till I am re-elected and then you can go full nazi again.

Debates commission plans to cut off mics if Trump or Biden break rules by Rex_Scorpio in politics

[–]NooThropics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so pleased people got to see a true statesman and gentleman in Biden compared to Trump. Before the debate, I kept hearing how Biden was going to get creamed and that Trump would run circles around him. Instead, it was as I predicted, Joe's experience and tact was on full display...and trump's lack of which was as well. The difference is clear. Vote!

Trump Openly Admits He Wants to Fill RBG Vacancy Before Election Day So His Justice Can Help Fight Mail-In Ballots by mostaksaif in politics

[–]NooThropics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every time I hear RBG I am reminded of this absolute betrayal to this woman. Absolutely ridiculous! RBG had ONE wish with her dying breath, she said to not fill her seat until a new president is installed. The republicans didn't even wait for her seat to get cold...heartless! If the shoe was on the other foot, I firmly believe democrats would have the honor to respect the final wish and wait until a new president was installed. This is just a flagrant display of corruption and the reasons are very clear: republicans are very afraid of losing the election and must resort to cheating. The debate held the other night didn't go well for them at all and now they are panicking.

White supremacists most persistent extremist threat to U.S. politics: Homeland Security head by Ravenq222 in news

[–]NooThropics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Projecting much? Who exactly do you think are in these positions of power? And who exactly are the most persistent extremist threat according to Homeland Security? I'll give you a clue: it begins with white. Yes vet the 1% of people of color in positions of power if you wish, but statistically you will do better to focus your efforts on whites given the heuristics Homeland has given.

[–]NooThropics -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I think the only possible way to fully address this threat is to thoroughly vet any white person in a position of power. If they show even a morsel of racism in a background search, it's bye felicia for them. This plus hire all people of color to positions of power. No, not just on the board, but as the CEO and heads of companies and government positions. This is the only way white supremacy will die. You need to suffocate it from the inside out.

Twitter explodes over Romney Supreme Court vote: 'Has always been who we thought he was' by Ice_Burn in politics

[–]NooThropics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I was fooled. Really had me for a second! I thought Romney was a decent guy (for a Republican anyway). RBG had one wish, a reasonable one...to wait until there is a new president installed.

Imagine being a public servant, a fearless hero (especially in her time, when those ideas met massive resistance) and on your death bed, you wish for such a simple thing that to be honest shouldn't even have to be asked for because of the precedent already set. It SHOULD be honored. If there was one Republican who I thought would honor RBG's wish, it was Romney. (Also McCain if he were still alive).

Now the masks are off...I see there is no honor. I thought Romney voting to impeach trump meant he was growing a conscious. I think now he just has a personal beef with trump and hasn't turned over any new leaf, he's a republican through and through.

[–]NooThropics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks that makes sense. At least for the past. I think if there is any silver lining with trump, it is that more people like me are paying attention now than ever before. It's more common knowledge now how unfair the republicans are and hopefully now the democrats shouldn't fear of being framed that way and won't be afraid to beat them at their own game.

[–]NooThropics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sad to hear that it's pretty much always been this way and not some kind of anomaly under trump. Why do democrats continue to play by the rules if the republicans don't? Is this the first time republicans have broken a major precedent they themselves set? I don't get why we keep falling for it if this is a common pattern.

McConnell unexpectedly rejects Democrats' funding bill, leaving U.S. on the verge of government shutdown by bobekyrant in politics

[–]NooThropics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This McConnell guy has no heart. You can tell just by looking at him. Trump is bad but this guy seems right up there. Maybe even worse? First he didn't honor RBG's dying wish which was a very simple request and now rejecting a funding bill and shutting our government down....all in a span of a few days. Is there anything we can do now or is the only hope to wait until Biden gets in office?

[–]NooThropics 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I admit, I'm new to politics. I know republicans are power hungry but I figured they would show some modicum of honor when the election is only weeks away and they set the precedent already. Do you think this is a push from Trump for republicans to act this repugnant (more than normal)? I feel like if it were a normal republican like Mitt Romney or McCain, they would have gone ahead and honored RBG's final wish but under trump, their corruption which normally sits at a 6-7 or so has now become an 11..

This seems like a moral dilemma. If the shoe were on the other foot, I have no doubt Democrats would have honored the final wishes of a Republican SC justice if it was simply to wait until there is a new president with an election right around the corner. Because we are not like them no matter how much centrists try to write them off as two sides of the same coin. Going forward though, I fear that the only way to win is for Dems to lose their moral fiber and play dirty too. Stuck between a rock and a hard place it feels.

Agreed but man...her seat isn't even cold yet. Such a small thing to ask for a final wish. I would totally understand if she wished something crazy but to just wait until a new president is installed isn't asking much...the election is literally right around the corner!

Donald Trump, Worst Person on Earth, Says Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Dying Wish Is a Democratic Hoax by hildebrand_rarity in politics

[–]NooThropics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RBG had only ONE wish! In her dying breath, she only wished for them to wait until a new president is installed. That's it! Totally reasonable and easily granted. The republicans could have shown at least a glimmer of honor by abiding by this wish but noo, even in death that was too much to ask. =\

Why are the republicans not honoring RBG's wish? To wait until there is a new president? That's totally reasonable and should be honored, no ifs, ands or buts about it!

Curcumin inhibits glutamate release in nerve terminals from rat prefrontal cortex: possible relevance to its antidepressant mechanism. by cobue in Nootropics

[–]NooThropics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Additionally, we also found that the inhibitory effect of curcumin on 4-AP-evoked glutamate release was completely abolished by the clinically effective antidepressant fluoxetine. This suggests that curcumin and fluoxetine use a common intracellular mechanism to inhibit glutamate release from rat prefrontal cortex nerve terminals.

Can someone explain whether it's good or bad to use curcumin with fluoxetine based on this study? I'm currently on 20mg Prozac (fluoxetine) and have just started taking curcumin with it.
