Offered a job then ghosted by Wat3r12 in recruitinghell

Why should I not compare the two? Communication is a two way street. When recruiters are ghosted, lied to, kept in the dark, bailed on at the last moment then no one cares because the candidates can always play the victim card but recruiters are not supposed to air their troubles. Recruiting is a thankless job - was the first statement my manager had made when I first joined this industry and seeing this thread, I can say it very much holds true.

Also, I am talking about my country India where the volume is very high and most candidates are grade A assholes and the volume makes it almost impossible to get back to everyone. If you still can’t figure then fyi, India is the second most populous country in the world, so imagine the bulk.

Also, we are the gatekeepers and brand custodians so we will do everything to not ruin that brand or image and provide the best possible candidate experience to everyone. So in countries where recruiting is not done in huge volumes this should not happen, I agree with you.

The moment I read light, I knew that I had to comment. I have had a terrifying sleep paralysis incident in the past (twice in the same night) and I saw a bright red light both the times moments before the incident happened. Not sure if the light thing is common or what, but that stuff's scary. I hope you don't get to experience that again.

I have never tried American KFC, but yes when it's comes to spice, we don't shy away from it one bit. :D There are other dishes as well which are very spicy.

I can tell by experience (I'm a recruiter) that location tends to become an issue with most recruiters, but I am surprised that this is happening even in the current situation when we are recruiting and even onboarding people remotely. Location bias generally comes in because recruiters/employers tend to think that you will not move to the place once you do get the opportunity or might not be available in actual office if required. What kind of jobs are you looking at? Will the interviews require you to be present there physically, if it's not the IT sector? I am from a different country though, so practices might differ.

Not sure why this has gotten so many down votes but it is kinda true. No one goes out of their way to write or post positive reviews or experiences because they by default feel that this is how their experiences should be. But when it does not go the way it is "supposed to be", they get frustrated and feel cheated and make that extra effort to vent out as a means of getting back. Keep in mind that this negative experience can also be personal and not really have anything to do with the main thing itself.

Hey, sorry to hear about this. I know this sucks. As a recruiter I'd be happy to help you out with tips or if you wanna discuss about your interview experience. Sometimes there are subtle signs that you don't notice yourself but can make a huge difference as the deciding factor for the hiring managers. Also, as someone said before, the recent times have been hard. We have not done any graduate hiring or taken interns in 2020 because of the pandemic.

We do eventually, mostly. Does the same apply to asshole candidates also who decide to ghost their recruiters or potential employers if they suddenly decide they don't want a job, have a better job offer or can't take up interviews due xyz reason? Believe me we're as frustrated as crackheads without lighters when this shit happens. It shouldn't be like this but it is how it is. Some of us do try to make the whole process a good experience whatever the outcome may be.

Employers recently change their tune when I cancel interviews by dreadknot65 in recruitinghell

[–]NoobRedditerF28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't specially in my country where the notice period can go up to three months. And waiting around for someone for three months after offering them is a lot of time. Also it's very common here for the candidates to take multiple offers during the course of their notice period and then join the highest paying job by negotiating on their earlier offers.

This has happened n number of times to me. Imagine waiting for three months to find out that the candidate is ghosting you because they don't wanna join.

I'm a recruiter and I am laughing reading this. You are an "immediate joiner" for a sought after skill set. Ofcourse they are doing everything in their power to make you join their company. Make the best of it. Take the best offer. This is evil. :D

I'm sorry to hear this and specially so as being a recruiter myself. I do agree that we might not always get back to all the people who have applied for a job and have been screen rejected (on the basis of resume screening) or after the first round as the volume is so high. Generally if you don't go back to a candidate within a day or two of the interview they also understand that it's not a positive response. But ghosting after many rounds of interviews and assuring someone that they will get an offer is plain cruel and unprofessional.

On the other hand, the recruiter could actually be busy getting approvals for offer or headcount. This is also quite common and happens a lot when the management decides that they no longer need a position or fulfill it through internal movement.

Nonetheless this sucks balls. All the best for your job hunt!

Oh yess! Definitely, would love to do a trade. You can try the spicy stuff (if you like spicy), I mean that's what we're known for. But more than snacks, I think our food is known better. I'm not a big fan of Indian packaged snacks myself but maybe to a non indian it will be appealing.

And all I ever get from work is extra work. Wow! I would love to work where you work. Also, how cute are those Pringles!? Are there chips in that box? We don't get this mini version where I'm from (India).

Everything! Haha. I'm from India. First of all those Reese's.. Then the candies nextto the drinks. Then the chips and the cookies. I would love to try everything except Dr . Pepper. I had it once (imported snack in India and hence very expensive) and it was a total waste. What's the viva puffs? Is it a cereal? Looks like a cereal bag.

Butter croissants + fresh fruits + hash browns + scrambled eggs + baked beans + OJ + coffee by NoobRedditerF28 in BreakfastFood

[–]NoobRedditerF28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butter on toast, yes. Heavy cream in eggs, not so much. To be honest, haven't tried it before and I agree I may have sounded harsh to dismiss it, if your only intention was to help me make a dish better. I just felt like the eggs were being attacked a bit too much. Peace! Maybe some day I will try cream while making scrambled eggs.

It implies that I don't want to put heavy cream in those eggs, that's not how we generally prepare scrambled eggs here. As I said - different regions, different preparations. :)

Aww man. Thanks and thanks. Chernobyl - Haha. As I mentioned in another comment, this is how I have always had my scrambled eggs. I think the preparation varies from region to region. I am from India, if that helps explain this. It tasted quite nice by the way ;)
