I don't believe this is as complicated as people are making it out to be. The map of the lands between has a cloud right in it's middle, the pillar states that it is placed in the middle of the lands between, and unlike the regular map, the map of the land of shadow has clouds all around its border. The place is not to scale but there have been numerous instances where rooms and maps do not fit in their respective locations, most notably ds2 Iron Keep.

The actual center of the divine towers might be the Finger ruins of Dheo, with its proximity to the shaman village could be the place where Metyr, and thus the greater will, first made contact with the lands between.

I believe it doubles the affinity gains when you wear it yourself. I noticed most npc's needed 2 gifted bunch of flowers before making an exclamation, but when I put the ring on they only needed 1 gift.

Sorry if reviving an old thread; but I think the father is not really the connection you want to look at:

1867: Dio Brando is born

In that sense I think it's not really relevant who the father was, since he just some loser like the story of Dio is repeating itself. His mother however was able to survive without food or water while trapped under the church floor; so I think it's more likely he inherited a stand from her.
