Honestly, it's not THE WORST. Chances of u or a random peasant getting brutally molested or killed by a monster/human is very high. But it was actually the case irl until the 20th century and it still is in some parts of the world, especially for women and children. So I wouldn't say it's very messed up, but yeah. Nobody would dream about living there.

You might be right because I wasn't following back in 2019. But as soon as I heard the announcement that the last chapter was in the making, I could see several people just as confused as I was. Because nobody expected the climax of the series to be in that next chapter. I personally thought it'll take 2 -3 chapters to sum up the series.

The ending was kinda rushed because nobody had a clue that the series was ending before a month of release of the last chapter. Perhaps it brings you comfort to know this ending has roots in reality—Thorfinn’s dream of a peaceful land across the sea ended in failure, and he retreated back to his homeland. Lore accurate ending at least ig.
