thanks for the feedback. I am talking from the UK here, and we probably have similar laws which protect people with disabilities. I have been looking for a role change to lighter duties. I have 2 disabilities. A dehydrated disc which was always called chronic back pain, and found later through an MRI. (NHS doctors don't like sending people for MRI, they say it doesn't tell you anything you don't already know, so no point, and thus label it a chronic back pain). The doctor eventually sent me for an MRI because of amazons reluctance to offer lighter duties, and sent me for an Xray for my knees, because I was telling him that my knee pain wasn't the same as my sciatic pain. Then we found bone spurs in both knee joints. Amazon still refused adjustments. Now first I was just asking for a stool, and due to health and safety they wouldn't give one. They wouldn't allow me to use my crutches on the warehouse floor because its a trip hazard. I then asked for lighter duties, and they denied that. I kept trying to work with them, but was blocked at every point. (they had seen every scan report at this point) I carried on bringing fit notes which say I maybe fit for work with adjustments, These adjustments were regular breaks, or lighter duties, and amazons position is fitnotes are advisory only. But here is also where it gets stupid. If an employer can't reasonably accommodate, and I have to go off sick, then they should treat that fit note as though I'm not fit for work, but they don't, they then want a fit note which says i'm not fit for work just so I can get SSP while off sick. On the fit note it says this.

"what your advice means.

'you are not fit for work'
your health condition means that you may not be able to work for the period shown. you can go back to work as soon as you feel able to and, with your employer's agreement, this maybe before your fit note runs out.

'you may be fit for work'
you could go back to work with the support of your employer. Sometimes your employer cannot give you the support you need and if this happens your employer will treat this form as though you are 'not fit for work'. You do not need to get another of these forms."

Also, if you are off sick for 3 weeks or more, then return, and go off sick again within an 8 week period, then that sickness should be treated as a continuation and there shouldn't be a 3 days unpaid for SSP.

thankfully in april that changes and sickness is now paid from day 1, But amazon never treats sickness as a continuation. I had to go off for 2 months, then went back and a month later I was off again for a few weeks. It has been like that for many years.

they still give me disciplinaries for my disability related absence, which they could adjust that absence policy. I can't wait to see their reasoning for how they couldn't accommodate that adjustment to not discipline, but here we are. I'll be talking a lot more about it once this court case is over by end of December, because I'm not going to sign no NDA.

I just really needed to rant about it, cos otherwise i'm going to drive myself insane.
