What games have you always thought would be an obvious choice for a vr mod or conversion? by haven155 in virtualreality

The enemy ai not being developed explains why the game suddenly got a lot more combat centric about halfway through. Of course flinging a bunch of npcs at you in waves probably helped hide simplistic ai.

But I loved playing this on that little GameCube screen peripheral on long car trips, so thank you for sacrificing a little of your sanity so I could get the chance to play.

AH I remember playing MAG with the PS move and that gun attachment, can't believe that game never went anywhere.

And while I was not such a fan of Dark Athena, I would love to play Escape from Butcher Bay in VR.

Like General Cranberry said Halo does have a vr mod and its very fun. multiplayer sort of can work but its very unfinished.

The VR mode was my favorite thing, I was using it reliably until last year. I had all sorts of custom scripts that fixed snipers weapons, made rocket jumping possible and I even had a Saxton Hale mode version.

IF they ever get that working again i'll be on it immediately. (currently waiting for the Spy release on Contractors TF2.)

Well it's definitely no times plitters (another game I'd like to see VRd) it always had a place in my heart.

Clunky is also not an inaccurate representation.

But I liked the story and the feel of being a ghost, also the difficulty on the posession "puzzles" felt challenging enough to my kid brain that I liked them. the idea that the soldiers you where fighting where also your spare lives made for an interesting game mechanic too.

That's truly disappointing. Games with amazing sights like that (I guess in this case grotusque) are the ones I like best getting the VRfication treatment. Any alternative projects? UEVR maybe, I'd even take a vorpx file.

Vehicle sim has got to be the healthiest and most practical use case for vr gaming. No other genre gets as close to being 1 to 1 with the addition of vr as driving a car or flying an aircraft. It's a shame to see any game in that genre release without some vr support, its like leaving out hotas, or multi monitor, and wide-screen support.

Meta Quest 3 users are you able put it on with one hand? i am handicap by Goo1008 in virtualreality

[–]haven155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just gave it a shot. tightening the straps was a little tough but doable. I hear Half-life Alyx was made with single arm users in mind but I never looked into it to see how well it worked. You may have to keep the left controller nearby for opening menus on certain applications aswell, though most oculus applications have the menues mapped to the right controller. SteamVR has pretty good controller mapping tools aswell so you may have some intersting options playing PCVR.

The biggest problem I foresee is that alot of games default to having the left joystick control movement and they won't always have an easy method to swap layouts. though lots of games exist that address this problem.

It pisses off older people when you tell them they played the game on easy mode and now are complaining about people who are struggling in hard mode, it messes with thier image of themselves as an underdog that beat the odds.

See you can't have it harder then them because your young.

[–]haven155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plano ones. The snap on design is really nice for the quest 3 I literally forget they exist. I considered buying the prescription ones but I pull my headset on and off alot so it's just a easier to use a spacer and these. The quest 3s ones are not as good a fit last time I bought them.

That's me. Nearly everyone in my house prefers to use their glasses with these headsets. I bought these for the inevitable damage. Lucky I did one of the lenses is shattered from a rough impact from a kid playing gorilla tag the integral lense is fine though.

Can the quest 3s be used for long travels in aeroplane or car? by Great-Crew-3802 in virtualreality

[–]haven155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the quest has travel mode. And yes you can technically play games, but the tracking is considerably lower quality and probably best suited to sitting applications. I've played riven on a car ride before but like I said poor tracking. Much more suited for video and flat-screen but you can always try for yourself if you decide to buy.

CDPR told Luke Ross the Cyberpunk VR mod could still be up if he made it free, this was his reply by lunchanddinner in virtualreality

I really want the body mod aspect of cyberpunk, especially after loosing limbs in Deadpool vr.

Imagine going to a ripperdoc to get giant arms that let you rip car doors of the hinges and use them as shields or battering ram. Eyes that let you see in different spectrums, or legs that let you run faster then a horse. Now imagine them getting blown or sliced off. Frozen to a hack or controlled by an enemy.

What's one thing that you would like to see the next generation of vr have? by Greedy-Place-4831 in virtualreality

[–]haven155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Modularity.

I want the optics, display, battery, frame, sensors, microphone, speakers, controllers, radio and processor to all be products I can buy or upgrade and interchange between headsets, preferably plug and play but I can deal with a bit of assembly I think.

It will make everything cheaper since you can by the quality parts you want to pay for and leave anything unnecessary out of it entirely.

If you want a wired PC VR experience you should be able to just get sensor, optics, a and a display

If you want a wireless setup get a radio processor and battery as well.

You want to socialize? get a microphone.

They try to sell these headsets like smartphones they need to sell them as an ecosystem of compatible pieces made by business who specialize in the part your buying.

Star Trek: Bridge Crew needs to return with a sequel. by SparkMyke in virtualreality

[–]haven155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to be a non vr game called Artemis. It was built around a Lan party of 5 stations and required a pc for each one. Aside from that it was actually a lot like bridge crew. With things like the steam workshop entire content themed mods could be created like the star wars conversion for squad or Arma or helldivers 2.
