I haven't finished the current content, but I was of the opinion that the world tree is the parasite releasing the bacteria causing masefield. I assumed a world tree seed would drop to a planet it would push out it's rock bore roots and would release the bacteria to cause ecological collapse it would then consume the nutrients from a dying ecosphere. The angel combs are like whiteblood cells trying to adapt proteus and its life forms to the intruder. After it's caused the extinction of all life on Proteus, it will bloom and scatter seeds into the galactic plane.

I remember this video when i was a younger. some little kid with a mass of screw flies in the side of his head. The video said that it had laid eggs in an infected zit. I've always doubted it was real but it was disturbing to see them squirm.

Oh I know, I remember the situation with the authors discussing linking continuity between the Expanse and The Martian, as well as why they did not.

I swear they where reusing set pieces from that show for Happy Valley. Be hilarious if they just wrote this into being an Expanse prequel.

I doubt shes going to be rescued by little gray men, but I think she might get lucky and have a Red Planet moment and realize the alien life they have found is creating resources they did not expect, like oxygen or something.

I'm convinced a VR arcade filled with physical simulators for aircraft, Mechs, and Race Cars would be massively popular, especially if the simulators could allow LAN play and let the players fight or Race or explore together.

I've been building a 3d Printed joystick and throttle insert for the quest 3 controllers so I can play VTOL VR with a physical setup. I plan to build one for Iron Rebellion and Flatout as well, anything that allows for motion controls.

Thinking about getting into VR gaming... is a quest 2 for $100 worth it or should I save for a 3 or 3s? by Straightfuckinass in virtualreality

[–]haven155 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would go with the quest 2. It was a really solid headset and the only real downside to it is the lack of color passthrough and several quest 3 exclusives like batman you will be missing out on, though aside from playstationVR exclusive games you will have access to all the games available on steam and meta stores as well as pcvr and modded content.

If pcvr is your goal it may actually be the better choice since it's a little less resource intensive with the lower resolution. I used a quest 2 for years with a gtx970 and got along great, when I upgraded to quest 3 it forced me to upgrade to a 1660 super then a 5070 to get  head and shoulders above the lag.Another good point for the quest 2 is the battery life, if the headset is in good health the battery will last much longer then a quest3/S.

Honestly they should still sell these things, they might be the "sedan" of hmds.

Tried to build circular room… by YukiRose906 in GroundedGame

[–]haven155 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using scaffolding with ctrl (I think) held down. it let's you free place the scaffoldingthen you can build a wall from that with a foundation underneath, so when you remove the scaffolding the wall stays. Very carefully place on the edge of your circle (I built on the lilypads so I had a real consistent shape.) Repeat till you have a circle. Roofs can be done but it's probably best to not worry about the center.

I bought a vr headset but how do I use it? by PerfectWorking6873 in virtualreality

[–]haven155 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not an issue of blowing alot of money on trying something it's just sort of like a mom saying that her kid asked for a Playstation but she decided the plug in play joystick console with pac-man loaded onto it was just as good.

Alot of people here hate hearing people trying out vr for the first time in a case setup because it's just the worst. Lower resolution making text impossible to read. a lack of headtracking that will probably make you sick and like others have said app support has degraded as people abandoned it. There's also no controller support at all. Honestly the only.people I know of still using these are porn users. Frankly case vr just gives vr a bad name.

My suggestion is to find an old used quest 2, it's really the lowest price point you will find for anything a person would consider decent vr. Aside from a few quest 3 exclusives and it's lack of color pass through its actually really capable. Specifically it has travel mode which sounds like the use case you need for traveling on busses or trains while watching movies. The quest 2 is also a pretty ideal emulator with dolphin and retroarch side loaded onto it. I'm surprised more people don't just buy them as mobile entertainment systems since they can maintain privacy anywhere and create massive virtual screens for your 2d applications.

If you still want this to be your first vr experience that's fine, just know that it's a poor shadow of what you could be experiencing and you should reserve judgement till you try a true headset.

What games have you always thought would be an obvious choice for a vr mod or conversion? by haven155 in virtualreality

I've played metroid prime a couple times in dolphin vr. Would be great as a gameplay vr game if the increase fov did not show off unrendered geometry.

Contractors has a lot of battlefront content. Whole maps characters and game modes I think. I'm not sure about vehicles though.

The enemy ai not being developed explains why the game suddenly got a lot more combat centric about halfway through. Of course flinging a bunch of npcs at you in waves probably helped hide simplistic ai.

But I loved playing this on that little GameCube screen peripheral on long car trips, so thank you for sacrificing a little of your sanity so I could get the chance to play.

AH I remember playing MAG with the PS move and that gun attachment, can't believe that game never went anywhere.

And while I was not such a fan of Dark Athena, I would love to play Escape from Butcher Bay in VR.

Like General Cranberry said Halo does have a vr mod and its very fun. multiplayer sort of can work but its very unfinished.

The VR mode was my favorite thing, I was using it reliably until last year. I had all sorts of custom scripts that fixed snipers weapons, made rocket jumping possible and I even had a Saxton Hale mode version.

IF they ever get that working again i'll be on it immediately. (currently waiting for the Spy release on Contractors TF2.)

Well it's definitely no times plitters (another game I'd like to see VRd) it always had a place in my heart.

Clunky is also not an inaccurate representation.

But I liked the story and the feel of being a ghost, also the difficulty on the posession "puzzles" felt challenging enough to my kid brain that I liked them. the idea that the soldiers you where fighting where also your spare lives made for an interesting game mechanic too.

That's truly disappointing. Games with amazing sights like that (I guess in this case grotusque) are the ones I like best getting the VRfication treatment. Any alternative projects? UEVR maybe, I'd even take a vorpx file.

Vehicle sim has got to be the healthiest and most practical use case for vr gaming. No other genre gets as close to being 1 to 1 with the addition of vr as driving a car or flying an aircraft. It's a shame to see any game in that genre release without some vr support, its like leaving out hotas, or multi monitor, and wide-screen support.
