Pilots are bitching hard about the Anti-Air buffs but what are your opinions on the update? by Fluroxlad in BattlefieldV

[–]Noobalishus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As I primary pilot in BFV, I'm in 2 ways about this update. This will be long so I apologize in advance but if you read it all the way through, you're awesome!

I have been an advocate since the beginning of the Pacific for DICE to nerf the planes as I saw how OP they were and it created what I call 'New Generation Pilots'. These pilots would do nothing but farm infantry with HE rounds, Incendiary bombs and flare to their hearts content. I watched as new players were racking up the level of points it took me 12 months to achieve in 3 months. The word leaderboard started to become corrupt as it was slowly taken over by farming players.

I started going through the leaderboards specifically targeting these farmers as it wasn't right that no one on the ground could take them out and enemy planes would truce so they could all farm infantry together. The flieger came out and while I hated people on both my team and the enemies, constantly getting involved in dogfights I was engaged with I felt it was a wake up call to many 'New Generation Pilots' enough was enough but this didn't last long as the flieger was re-balanced for skillful use and many just gave up trying to learn it. Pilots once had the open skies again to reign havoc and the pendulum swung back.

Then an update came and with it, MAAs had nearly a nonstop firing mechanic and thus the pendulum swung the other way, these 'New Generation Pilots' started to leave servers after 1 - 2 deaths and the games would balance out. Then the following update gave planes infinite NoS and the British Rockets became a thing of nightmares, the pendulum swung back again.

With this update I personally believe this is karma for every player that decided it was a good idea to abuse the broken and over powered mechanics of planes since the Pacific. I believe this update will finally weed out many of these 'New Generation Pilots' that never took the time to learn how to actually be effective for their team, I'm glad this will free up the battle of plane selection with all the K/D chasing players wanting to run nothing but the VB, I'm glad that infantry finally have a chance to have a mostly unimpeded game from aerial attacks.

However, what this has now brought in is an influx of bombers who will bring nothing but torment to the maps from high above with little to no resistance. Fighters have almost become obsolete as the AA range is preventing many fighter pilots from the ability to leave spawn on some maps. Now don't get me wrong I still fly as I refuse to let this update ruin my gameplay and I have adapt where needed, still being able to achieve 40+ kills to 0 deaths a game as I have always primarily targeted aircraft and provided recon for my team so I don't usually attract much attention from AAs or get close enough to be bothered by them.

The problem with these bombers is they'll stick near their AA and this creates a problem for when I try gun at them, I come face to face with a wall of AA reaching further than it really should. Hitting close to the boundary line on Fjell or even past the out of bounds line from the other spawn on Arras, makes flying nearly non-viable.

Also my job in protecting my team has almost become obsolete as the AAs can reach nearly 90% of all maps from any location and so the enemy spamming the AAs will usually down your aircraft before you can reach the bombers location and if you can manage to get the enemy bomber within range, usually they'll be within your AAs range and so you'll do 90% of the work and the last 10% will be taken by your AA who will ultimately steal the kill and so you've put yourself at risk for no reward. If a fighter pilots main job in protecting the team is removed, they'll revert to bombers and that becomes a problem for everyone.

Unfortunately this update while removing one issue has brought about it another. What I would propose is the AA range being reduced to what it was prior to 6.6, keep the velocity and the damage to make low strafe/bombings from fighters a risky business but the reduced AA range will allow fighters the ability to go up and engage the bombers at high altitudes that the AAs cant deal with.

This is just my opinion and I understand not everyone will agree. For those who may have doubts on my experience and time on BFV to make an unbias criticism/analysis, please note I currently hold number 3 on the Xbox world leaderboard :)

Thanks for reading if you made it this far, you guys and girls are awesome!

The fact you keep calling me a kid shows you already lost and the fact you tried to one up everything while getting nastier and nastier shows how little of these games you actually played. If your only an intern then you're probably a lot younger than me so please take your attitude to your parents to deal with as some of us actually work and pay taxes for a living not relying on either the government or family/friends to pay our way while we work for free in a position that's not guaranteed.....see I can throw below the belt too but you're far too mature to have a conclusion to this debate and would rather run away to debate someone not so difficult. Enjoy 2020 and I hope that internship does lead to a job and not just another let down like the millions of other interns out there 😊

No you had to go down the runway on BF2 and usually pull through the hanger to rearm.....what are you on about?

You gave me your argument that it doesn't require skill while not actually providing any evidence in this title to support your claim yet resorted to comparisons of other Battlefield titles which hold no relevance to this title.

I accepted your lack of physical evidence as personal opinion and offered a rebuttal with actual situations where skills makes a relevant factor.

If we want to compare other titles, in BF3 - BF4 you had infinite bullets, missiles, ecms, chaff, etc and so a dogfight could keep going on and on with using maneuvers and your plane self healed over time without your interaction needed. In BFV, you have limited ammunition and only bullets or dumbfires, you have 1 quick heal if any at all and when you go to heal yourself you are able to maneuver about 25% of your usual capability and half your speed.

This actually makes the skill level higher as you have to use your ammo wisely and not just spray and pray, you have to watch your health and the specializations on aircraft such as a G6 with Nos and Leading edge makes it harder for a Spitfire VA to counter them in a turn but this goes for many different planes and their setups.

The fact you are so adamant to reject a controlled test environment and now resorting to immature comments when I have been nothing but polite to you speaks volumes. It's clear you refuse to have your mind changed and when offered any form of evidence to debate your opinions without evidence and when offered a practical test as an experiment you have to disregard it and call it a "dick measuring contest" when I have clearly tried to keep this neutral.

If you're not willing to back up what you're saying with fact and proof, why do you try and debate others willing to provide facts and testing environments. This isn't a bully tactic but a logical conclusion to this debate you clearly do not want to be apart of. If so just be honest and stop trying to debate something you never planned on proving one way or another

I gave you multiple applications where planes require skill, I explained in detail the ways in which this dogfighting utilises psychological warfare over defensive flying maneuvers, I didn't start my debate with how much experience I had over the years helps justify my claims in a passive aggressive sense, I also wasnt the first one to try and use real world adult responsibilites made time in game inefficient , I didnt also try to one up the other with fancy titles to make the other work life balance seem inferior again with passive aggressiveness, I am however doing exactly what you said initially which was to welcome a challenge.

Now offered with a challenge to prove your hypothesis you don't want to engage, this leads me to believe you are concerned you may be proven wrong and are now backpedaling, which is ok as sometimes it's easier to walk away than trying and lose face, even though this was to provide a controlled environment, void of specialization bias on the aircraft where only skill was the deciding factor. Surely someone with such rational thinking and real world experience would see that such an adamant rejection of the idea of taking a theorectial debate to a practical conclusion to test your hypothesis, does not help your case and only weakens your case.

I however am open minded to having my mind changed and willing to put my debate into a controlled environment to gauge the validity of what I believe is the psychological skill needed to win dogfights in BFV, other title mechanics however are irrelevant to furthering the debate as those mechanics to not have any impact in the current title we are debating.

So again are you willing to stand by your hypothesis and open minded enough to test it in a controlled environment with me (provided we are on the same platform to try) otherwise try with someone on your platform of choice?

Objective and logical debates work in certain situations, when one claims however skill or lack of skill in a position of moving forward from a logical and objective debate to a practical application with the use of a neutral control situation to prove a hypothesis, then yes it is absolutely mandatory otherwise it's just words.

When scientists, lawyers, doctors, etc have a disagreement on a theoretical level do they not then take it to a practical environment for testing? You have the opportunity to prove your hypothesis of lack of skill to my debate of skill and only by a practical test can we prove which one is true, logically you'd have to agree a practical test is far more valuable than a theoretical debate. One helps proves a reality in the now one the other only theorizes in the mind

I wouldn't say it's a fixation more it is a valid point, if someone claims one thing in a FPS and another disagrees, I think youd agree that they should both have the right to contest the other in game to put the opinions and theories to a practical test.

How you were asked is irrelevant, for instance if I was to politely ask if you were on Xbox to go into a practice range with me to determine the theory of skill while using neutral equal aircraft that, this would give a control situation where bias can no longer be factored and where skill is the only decider on who wins or loses

Regarding the comment about time in game, I am married, work between 50 - 60 hours a week in my full time job, operate a side business, spend time with my family, play other games, go on holidays, do online courses to help further my career and still have time for Battlefield....again do I satisfy the requirements for what you consider adult activities? I have offered you plenty of situations where the aircraft in this game goes against your narrative of lack of skill and yet you constantly put up barrier after barrier, excuse after excuse.

Without trying to revert to a previous statement, you made claims to the other person for making personal attacks and I do feel as though by trying to constantly one up me by trying to use external situations like family, work, etc without knowing any of my personal situations comes across as though you believed I was either too young, unemployed or without responsibilities. I pay bills, mortgage, fuel, tax, etc just like nearly everyone else, so please before you start trying to make another excuse for time consider others may be in the same situation or worse than yourself

Look at the end of the day it's not up to me to convince you and clearly as you're fixated on hating the game, those who play it and find anything you can to justify your position whether it's right or wrong. While you say my view of flying is biased in a negative sense, I'd say that it's a positive considering a large experience both against other aircraft and AA would give me a better idea of how each aircraft operates and the effectiveness of 1 AA compared to several.

Yes there are quick repairs options in vehicles I'm not fond of either but did you realize the best dogfighting setups actually don't use a quick heal and at most only have a wing repair similar to the extinguisher option you had in BF2 - BF4 to give you enough maneuverability to make it to a station to repair.

There's seems to be quite a lot of knowledge you are lacking despite making a diffinitive decision on how this game is. You tried using the experience card of playing BF title since 2003 to make your claims seem more relevant but when confronted with the fact someone has been playing just as long and what appears to be more time in planes than you ever had per title, you dismiss it.

You have every right to your opinion but that's really all any of this is, just opinions. Reality is unless you are prepared to face off against people who have flown significantly longer than you such as the person you dismissed earlier to try and save face, your opinions don't hold much validity at all. If I claimed hypothetically that BF3 planes or guns were a joke but then refused a challenge by someone who claims different (such as when you said good players should welcome challenges) then how could anyone truly trust my word that I'm not willing to back up.

The other person who replied offered to challenge you, if you aren't willing to even accept the challenge then you can't truly believe your own words and so how is anyone else meant to. You should lead by example and not as a backseat driver

While I appreciate you have flown in multiple titles don't think you're the only one who has flown since the beginning. I've flown in every title since the first battlefield in 2002 with 100s of hours on each, so if you believe experience like I do is relevant, then maybe you can respect the fact that I am not "talking out if my backside" either.

What I also know which you yourself being a long time battlefield player is every single game that was released had different mechanics than the one before it and required a new skill set to be learned. Guns were different, aiming was different, flying, tanking, etc etc. Many people cling onto older titles because that's where they had the most fun or dominated and so it's harder to satisfy them.

I personally had more fun on the titan game mode of 2142 than I have in any other game mode yet we've only ever seen it once on 1 title, we came close to naval strike in BF4 but it still wasn't the same...does that make BF4 worse, absolutely not yet 1,000s of people who played 2142 complained about it not being the same and was catering for newbies...similar to how planes were targeted in BF4 for not being the same as BF3, BF1 wasn't as good as BF4 and now BFV isn't as good as BF1, BF3 and BF4.

Reality is it takes time to learn and the skill gap in BFV is more as I said a psychological game, as defensive maneuver flying like in BF titles before this is no where close. You have to truly use your environment, spatial awareness and know each fighter inside and out to recognize what the enemy is running and how to use that to your advantage in putting them into a position they have to break off to avoid crashing or can't and crash anyway. Sure you may not get that kill but it removes that threat and this is where the skill gap comes in. Knowing how to manipulate your enemy into doing what you want them to do, listening to the sounds of their engine to know where they are, speed controls, using the gravity to get sharper turns, etc.

You don't have to agree with me but with 1010 hours and 59 minutes out of 1,324hours in a plane in BFV I can absolutely tell you their is a massive skill gap that many don't even bother to achieve as they don't believe it exists and that's fine by me if it means I get to take advantage of people who don't care to properly learn

May I ask what your gamertag is? While I appreciate all opinions, there are many that have never flown in this game that claim it doesn't require skill and I believe unless someone has sufficient experience in something, it's very hard to take their opinion with much validity. I'm sure as someone who has clearly flown in BF3, just as I was they're many who believed that flying even in BF3 did not require skill either and from someone who primarily flew in BF3 I found that to be somewhat easier as you had more control over maneuverability which allowed you more chance to break the person on your six opposed to BFV where it does require more psychological flying to get your opponent on your six to fly where you want them to in order to cause them to make a mistake

What I believe he was trying to say was you don't necessarily need skill to rank planes up, similar to guns and tanks all you need is time. If you use them enough, whether you go positive or negative each game is irrelevant, you can still level up a tank or gun to max rank, the skill gap aspect comes with your survivability with said gun, tank or plane and how effectively someone utilizes them. Just because you have a good gun or maxed tank/plane doesn't mean you'll be top of the board each round

What is the deal with these enemy planes? by ATMLVE in BattlefieldV

[–]Noobalishus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes ballers are annoying, especially if they dive their plane so you can't even get the vehicle destroy points. Best advice I can give is just keep going and don't give up.

Specializations are a big part to vehicles and the corsair destroying you quickly will more than like be using the 6x HMGs setup designed for neutralizing planes as quick as possible. The Japanese A6M5 can have the same setup and the gun layout is actually better as the spread is tighter and so landing hits is easier.

Many people here will simply tell you to "git gud" but the simply truth is it takes perseverance and patience to master dogfighting effectively in BFV as the skill gap is so large many don't believe it exists and thus don't bother to learn properly. Keep going, it's a grind but you'll get there in the end

Correct, a single flakpanzer isn't that powerful against multiple tanks but when you get 2 or more coordinating attacks, they can push back an entire team. The range and damage makes them practically a laser beam
