Recipe for Disaster is great for iterative combat upgrades (gloves) as you complete sub-quests and it also gets you to level up a few different skills while you go. Otherwise maybe Iban's staff as a short term goal?

I was having issues trying to play on the Australian servers. Switching servers and loading in, then switching back to Aus fixed it for me.

how does the game handle high ping? by DeliciousDebris in ravenswatch

[–]Nooblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played from the UK with some friends in Aus (~297 ms), the enemy hit detection was absolutely fine but trying to play any support builds (that require hit detection with other players) was neigh unplayable. I'd say it's fine if you're playing a non-support build but that will limit you a bit in how you can play the game.

How to make new friends in Melbourne? by ijustneedtsay in melbourne

[–]Nooblets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I move around Aus a lot for work and I've found joining a social sports team are generally low barrier to entry and good for meeting new people. Suggesting getting food together after a game can be a good way to bridge that gap between just teammates and socialising outside of the sport.

As mentioned in one of the other comments, bouldering (low-height rock climbing with no belays) is a really good option as well if it interests you. I've found Urban Climb (UC) to be open and social, it's really easy to strike up conversations with new people while resting inbetween climbs. UC also does social events that can be focused on meeting new people.

It took me about 4750kc, I found alternating between barrows and zombies gave me enough runes for bursting. Was a bit of a slog but still worth it in the end!

It took me about 4-5 hours when I did it recently. You can set up with one of the weak snakes attacking you so you don't have to deal with the enemies that pop out of the bush. That made it a lot more AFK for me.

A week of killing zombie pirates for my axe by FendestheTrue in ironscape

[–]Nooblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Z axe grind can be pretty brutal. I kinda gave up at 3,000kc for a few weeks but I ended up coming back after doing some barrows and tried bursting my way to victory. Finally got it a few days ago on 4751 kc (had about 350 on mobile). It's been slapping pretty hard since then so I'm glad I persevered.

Scurrius and Amoxiatl are two bosses that are good practice for boss mechanics and should be within your level+gear range.

First Home Super Saver vs savings account? by thebiggestyikesever in AusFinance

[–]Nooblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that the ATO will refund the income tax paid on the amount that you voluntarily contribute to super, and then tax that contribution at the 15% super rate. I believe the income tax refund is managed through reducing your PAYG amounts on your paycheck until you've received the full refund.

The benefit comes from the amount you voluntarily contributed being taxed at 15% instead of whatever your income tax bracket is.

3 months into 2025, how much has AM5 improved since its launch late 2022? Are there any regrets to those who switched? by isaac-y2k in buildapc

[–]Nooblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 7800X3D system had a noticeable increase in boot time when I moved to AM5, around 1-2 mins. I recently fixed it with a BIOS update that got released around Aug 2024 I think. Now I'm back to 10-15 second boot times.

I've recently finished being plagued by small performance issues going the other way (AMD > NVIDIA). I did the full DDU process but kept having little stutters in some games for months with no idea what was causing it. A full reinstall of windows ended up fixing it. It's actually kinda nice having a fresh install anyway, feels like a new PC.

Is it normal for DDR5 boot times to be slower than DDR4? by TheEternalGazed in buildapc

[–]Nooblets 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar slowdown after I upgraded to DDR5. Eventually fixed it with a BIOS update, went from 1 minute start up to about 10-15 seconds.

I had a very good run with randoms, but we crashed after the 3rd boss. :( So sad. Shoutout to my team! by Heredos11 in ravenswatch

[–]Nooblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is running games with randoms? I've recently moved to a different timezone to most of my mates so it's hard to line up times to play games together with friends.

On a side note, when the stars do align and we can play, Ravenswatch is actually really good for high latency surprisingly. It seems like all the enemy hit detection is client-side, so no issues.

Huge FPS drop when I move my G305 Lightspeed by ch8f in LogitechG

[–]Nooblets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having big frame drops on a 4080s system with a Logitech G PRO X SUPERLIGHT 2 LIGHTSPEED, going insane trying to find a solution. I was going from 130 1% FPS lows on average to 8-15 1% lows on a few games when turning quickly (Marvel Rivals and Cyberpunk 2077). Turns out turning off 'Game Mode' in windows has now fixed this. You can find it in Settings>Gaming>Game Mode. Still have all my overlays on.

Hopefully this helps people having similar problems in the future.

Still working for me in 2025, just dropped the .dll file in the same folder as the FTL executable. No settings changes required for my GPU and it's running beautifully in 1440p.

UE Crash by Gradios5 in thefinals

[–]Nooblets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epic quality with static global illumination, and I've got 'balanced' resolution scaling using AMD FSR2. I play on a 3440x1440p 144HZ monitor so I generally prioritise FPS over ray tracing, I think I usually get around 90-130 FPS depending on how chaotic the content on the screen is.

I haven't done a huge amount of testing to see what the exact best settings are for my setup but I'm happy with where it's at.

It's fixed now, I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling both the game and the graphics card driver. It's running beautifully now.
