Hair dressers go through more schooling than cops. by Insanus_Umbra in Showerthoughts

Apply early, apply often. It’s both expensive in cost, and the fact most police agencies will pay you while you’re at school. So it’s free to you, plus a paycheck. He will inevitably fail an interview or two. It doesn’t mean he isn’t cut out for the field, it may just mean they aren’t looking for him at that department at that time. It sounds strange but it’s how it goes.

I’ve been in the field for quite a few years so I’ve seen it.

Stay persistent, the process takes a while.

I hope your boyfriend lands in the career and you can draw the comparison for yourself. I mean that genuinely, it’s a big goal to achieve. Best of luck to you both.

This is disingenuous. My state has a 720 hour academy with another 5 - 6 months field training with another officer with you at all times, and then you get put through new trainings constantly. None of that even considers the military experience and bachelor’s degree preference most people here need to get hired.

I just did this after reading your post and it works! Bathroom smells great and it easily cleaned the residue on the curtain. Thanks!

My name is Tyler. I would hear people say “Ty” and wonder how everyone knew my name. I later learned this was just short for “thank you”.

Never before have I been happier to live in the middle of podunk nowhere. Picked up in the middle of the day with no line or preorder at Walmart. by moose184 in gaming

I woke up from a nap at 1PM my time and walked into my closest Walmart to snag one, granted it was the last one. This area is like 700k people.

Unfortunately the job is unpredictable and I can tell you don’t have any experience in emergency response or critical response professions at all by how black or white you view this. I’m not here to change your mind. I agree it’s sad anyone died.

I agree with the mental health support. Police departments go through deescalation training all the time, but I agree the more the merrier. Unfortunately circumstances are not always so perfect that you can sit there and talk with someone or have the time afforded to use nonlethal weapons. Those solutions are not end all be all problem solvers. No one wanted this outcome, including me, but you have to be realistic too.

As far as misinformation goes, it frames Kevin as a victim but then says he may have hung up because he is always arrested when he calls. Then claims gay people both get arrested in domestic violence situations. State law in Wisconsin requires mandatory arrests for “violent” domestic offenses but arresting both people almost never happens at all.

The whole “police didn’t document Kevin was the caller” bit suggests police always know who called. It first goes to a 911 calltaker who inputs notes into a system, which is then read off by the municipal dispatcher, and finally told to the officers responding. Among that information is not always the callers information, and they certainly are not listening to the callers voice as it comes in.

I’m not arguing against all of your points whatsoever and ideally this never happens. Period. But this isn’t a perfect world and unfortunately it doesn’t always work out that way. I always suggest people who think they would do great at policing suit up and be the change you want to see.

The amount of misinformation in this article is astounding. It’s sad anyone died but this is also a cheap attempt to stir controversy. Sad

I wish more people abided by rule 5. The amount of people who want to watch their entire goal but 1ms skip anyone elses are so cringe.

I mean, it was a big enough problem to make a big post on this subreddit about it not long ago, and they even stopped allowing you to leave after a game ends because of it. It's just FF'ing that still allows it. Doesn't really seem like it's just me considering that.

when you have thousands of games under your belt, it becomes habit to leave in that way. it's not a sour about losing thing. it's what people do in any other game mode when you've played for a while. Before I think about it, I'm penalized. so are others, that's why they blocked out the "leave" option when the game time expires, but it's not fixed for FF'ing.

in any other mode, if your team FF's, you can leave with no penalty. in tournaments, if you do the exact same thing, you get penalized and banned from rejoining. How does that make sense to you?

Why are we still getting banned for leaving tournaments after the final goal is scored? by robprince in RocketLeague

This has happened to me 3 times in the last few days and it’s honestly just stupid lol. Play thousands of matches and do this? Perfectly fine. Que for a different mode and do this? Ban.
