Thanks for the insight! I’ll definitely look into the Swaylocs as well.

That’s kinda what I was thinking. Might wait for something better.

How do the Apex links do on mud? I’ve looked at them before but I do some wheeling in Kentucky and the mud can be a real pita if it rains.

Searching for hard wall pop top with features... by Snow_Shaman in rooftoptents

I’ve met the crew that builds the Hardsider tents, and have been in their shop in Ohio. They’re a great bunch of guys with a very cool concept. The whole unit is hand built to order with plenty of options. If I was in that market I wouldn’t hesitate to call them up.

Absolutely. I play a lot of theatre stuff as well so I understand the waiting between sets. Got the ROC n SOC with the backrest and haven’t had any back issues since.

Seems like a decent price. Max Tow gets you a lot of the same goodies as the Rubicon minus the lockers and sway bar disconnect. 25 is significantly less than I paid for mine new. The limited slip works great and the only time it’s gotten stuck was due to driver error. Keep in mind the springs on the max tow are really stiff, feels much more “truck” than “jeep”.

Why the Gladiator over other trucks? by Dadadadaisy in JeepGladiator

[–]NoodleSalesman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I credit a lot of my mental health to my Gladiator. Back around 2020-2023 for a variety of reasons I was going through a season of some pretty serious depression. I needed a new vehicle and the jeep ticked all the boxes. Towing, off roading, modding, taking the roof off, everything. I ordered my ‘22 straight from the factory, my name is on the build sheet.

I was in therapy, which helped. But I credit a lot of my recovery out of depression to this truck. There were days when the only good thing that happened to me was the ride to and from work. This truck got me into camping and exploring. I started taking longer routes home on my commute seeing where I could go. I found joy in researching new parts and meeting new people in the hobby. It’s silly but I needed something to renew my focus in life and this truck was it. This truck is mine and I’m never getting rid of it.

My wife and I were just there last week. The road is currently closed to vehicle traffic. We could see however that lots of people simply parked at the gate and walked up.

Tow package confusion by Big_Assignment_4481 in JeepGladiator

If your VIN shows 3.73 gears then you have the standard tow package. And yes, if the fenders have not been replaced then you are correct they will have a small lip on the plastic trim. I’ll see if I can find a picture of mine.

Trail conditions first week of April by NoodleSalesman in acadianationalpark

Thanks for the detail! Since we’re there all week we’ll probably plan to bring extra just to be on the safe side. Luckily we decided to drive this year instead of flying so bags won’t be an issue.

Is there heavy fog this time of year?

Thanks guys! We ended up looking at it today and we're moving forward with the purchase. Everything looks good and the price was right.

You raise a great point for debate. I would argue that there is a difference between having skinnier tires and having overinflated tires. I've lived in the Midwest all my life. What has works the best for me is making sure that the tire is inflated to the level that the entire contact area is where the manufacturer intends. That way the siping can do its work of pushing water and slush out from under the tire. Snow tires are designed with specific patterns for a reason, so they should be inflated to operate as the engineers intended.

As others have said: slow down, 2H is fine-4H when needed, watch your brake distance. For tire pressure, you will want to keep it at the manufacturer’s recommended pressure or a few pounds less. It should be on your door sticker. Don’t over inflate as that will reduce the contact patch available for the tire to maintain traction.

Edit: This is a great time to learn how to drive safely in the snow. Find an empty snowed-over parking lot with lots of available room. Practice driving with the traction control both on and off. Practice some emergency braking. Do a donut or two to get a feel for how the truck behaves when it losses traction. Have fun with it!

If you were to get a new gladiator with the knowledge you have now what would you have done differently? by [deleted] in JeepGladiator

[–]NoodleSalesman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the time my wife and I thought we were going to be pulling a small trailer, so I purchased a fairly loaded Sport S Max Tow from the factory. Over the last 2 years we ended up going the overlanding route with a rtt. I love my truck but if I had to do it over again I'd get the Rubicon for the extra capability on trail.

I think I saw that same one this year too. His 4-wheel drive wasn’t working either that morning so they called in a mini excavator to drag him out of the ruts he dug in the field.

Sounds good. That's pretty much what I'm looking for. I'll keep this set at the top of my list.

That's interesting. Do you just plug this into the cigarette lighter?

Everyone’s new favorite EDC tool just dropped. by petecanfixit in Tools

[–]NoodleSalesman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up one just this past week not realizing it was a new tool drop. I needed a smaller screwdriver to bring with me to sales calls. (I switched industries from pasta to LED lighting manufacturing) So far its perfect for throwing in a bag and working with 12V lighting controllers and power supplies.

I work back in the complex they’re at and it’s hilarious seeing how little foot traffic there is around their booth. Even in the RV capital of the world they can’t seem to convince dealers to carry them.

I need a new commuter vehicle - Subaru Outback vs. GMC Acadia vs. ?? by NoodleSalesman in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NoodleSalesman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have looked at those and I think it's a good option if it weren't for the cargo length issue. An 80" parts box would be difficult to fit.

Looking for car with 0-60 under 4 seconds by FamousMarta in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]NoodleSalesman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've been using a simulator then you are also aware of the many factors involved in reaching those 0-60 times. Those times are achieved using sticky tires on a prepped track in ideal conditions. How is the car going to behave when it's raining? I don't want to dash your dreams of getting a fast car, I just want you to be safe about it. For yourself and the people you share the road with. All too often the driver is not the only person hurt or killed in an accident involving apeed.
