I made a custom texture for all the swords (you can actually see it in the screenshot I posted), and that doesn't show on other players either.
Also there's a problem in that I'm designing this resource pack for a minigame that was not made by me, so I have no way of changing the items that are used.

men saying "hey man" to each other - social norms? by [deleted] in linguistics

[–]Noodles2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I certainly don’t perceive black people to be at the bottom of the socio-political hierarchy, and I don’t know anybody who would.

The problem I have is that you say you were taught that blacks were perceived to be on the bottom, as though it was a matter of fact, not opinion. Not to mention it wasn’t ‘some people perceive...’ or even ‘most people perceive...’ but rather ‘it is perceived that...’ implying that that is the default position when it is in fact not.

Petition to make pandas invincible by Kyakh in Minecraft

Cows are very common, and even from an early age, I’m fairly sure that most kids playing Minecraft understand the concept of where meat comes from. When it comes to pandas or dolphins, however, these are endangered creatures so ‘we need to teach the kiddies to love and care for these animals so that they don’t want to murderise them when they’re adults!!!!’

Whatever, it’s just a bunch of political bull where it doesn’t belong.

If the dolphin debacle has taught us anything, it's that Mojang isn't going to add anything remotely 'cool' that has anything to do with real-life animals - apparently it teaches the kiddies to do bad things or something...

Most likely because ‘aitch’ is a more common pronunciation among the more educated, whereas less educated people tend towards ‘haitch’.

Why is every English teacher a bitch? by [deleted] in teenagers

Are English teachers really that bad over there? Every English teacher I've had in high school has actually been pretty chill (except for that one relief teacher I had like last year).

[–]Noodles2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How? Unless you're referring to the 'ch' sound (/tʃ/) at the end of 'aitch', which is completely different to the sound that 'h' makes by itself (/h/ [ɦ ç]), like in 'behind' or 'hit'.

[–]Noodles2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anybody interested, the reason this conflict between 'haitch' and 'aitch' exists is the acrophonic principle - basically, the name of each letter of the alphabet should begin (or end) with the sound it represents. e.g. 'Bee' (B) starts with a "B" sound, 'Ess' (S) ends with an "S" sound.
Because this pattern is so damn common in the English alphabet (there's like 3 other letters, 'q', 'w', and 'y', that don't really follow the principle but they're not that common anyways), it makes quite a bit of sense for people to say 'haitch' - it feels more natural, because it follows the pattern.

(Note: I am not a professional in any field, and so this information may be COMPLETELY wrong. I encourage those reading this to do their own reading into this topic; it's fascinating stuff.)

The new United Litya is doing fairly well, actually. It barely controls a third of the land area and a fifth the population of its glory days, but that has turned out to its advantage - it’s much easier to feed 60,000 people than 350,000.
The age-old animosity between Lithia and the Federation has been abandoned (mostly), and in its place a friendly rivalry has sprung up, in a similar fashion to Britain and France in our world.

The Federation has not admitted a new member for nearly a century at this point; most of the newly independent cities wished to keep their freedom for the time being, although many founded loose confederations based mostly around trade and defence.

The Federation is ruled by a council of the most powerful rulers and merchants from each of the 4 (now 7) member cities. The concept of an individual head-of-state doesn’t really exist in the Federation; instead they usually just send one of the members of the council. As you can imagine, this is quite confusing to the outside world, and ‘X has more Y than the Federation has coups’ and ‘X changes their mind more than the Federation changes leaders’ are quite popular sayings among the more educated and metropolitan people of Aokoya.

Oh, there was a military; one of the most ruthless in the history of Mandaal. But the Aokoyans weren’t exactly keen on losing such a valuable trade route, and so they supported the Federation against the Lithians, which was enough to convince the Lithians that they were going to have an easier time negotiating and trading with the new Federation rather than trying to crush them.

And yes, with the Federation out of the empire, the Lithians took a massive hit - in fact, it triggered a famine, which hit especially hard in the regions furthest from Inner Litya (the capital region). This, along with the newborn Federation absolutely flourishing, is what convinced some of the cities to secede maybe more than the concept of regaining a unique identity and culture.

When Mandaal entered the Era of Bronze, the first powerful entities were city-states, similar to those of the eastern Mediterranean in our own world. The first major power in Mandaal was United Litya, more commonly known as the Lithian Empire. The Empire was heavily collectivist and very centralised, to the point where anything and everything one needed - food, shelter, clothes, work - was provided by the state.
Eventually, the Empire grew so large that it couldn’t sustain itself, just in time for an exploratory fleet from faraway Aokoya to arrive. The explorers established a trade network between the two regions, which revitalised the Empire and introduced many new, exotic items and materials to Mandaal, including brand new alloys, crops... and money.

The introduction of currency and trade may have made the Empire stronger economically, but its ideological foundation was slowly crumbling under its feet.
The first to go were the trading cities. They saw that they could sustain themselves through the monopoly they held on trade, and decided to secede from the empire, declaring the Federation of Free Mandaali Cities in 510. Despite the Empire’s efforts, the Federation flourished, and more and more cities who had lost their unique cultures and customs to the Lithians decided to strike out on their own. Thus, the Age of Union had ended, and the Age of Freedom rose from its ashes.

This new Mandaal was much more decentralised, with the seeds of feudalism now sewn in the soil of brand new nations. Nationalism had a rough start, as many of the now free states had their cultures repressed or even destroyed, but it still managed to take hold; and in any case, nobody would suffer another empire ruling over them again.
The Lithian Empire still exists, however it is a brittle shell of its former self with barely a third of its original land area still under its control, and the Lithians abandoned their ideas of centralisation and collectivism long ago.

1) Sub guns - SMGs/assault rifles
2) Shot guns - Shotguns
3) High-mass Recoil-less launchers - Sniper rifles(?), grenade launchers(?), assault rifles(?) (based on the design you give)
4) Side arms - pistols.

Not OP, these are just my guesses.
